What Are Pneuma And Ousia?

New Energy Properties Found In Fontaine

Pneuma and Ousia are new energies found all around Fontaine. They are the basis of many of Fontaine's Meka entities. Just note that only one of the energy types is present in each Meka entity, not all of them.

Fontaine Release Date & Location

Pneuma

Pneuma energy is presented as energy that looks similar to Hydro. It's blue and spawns bubbles all around it.

Ousia

Ousia energy looks to be made of light, and is colored yellow with sparkling light surrounding it.

Found In Machines & Meka

Pneuma and Ousia are the main power sources of most of the mechanical entities found in Fontaine. This applies to Aerial Transport, Meka enemies, and puzzles around the nation.

Comes In Blocks

Pneuma and Ousia can be acquired from energy blocks found around Fountaine. The energy of the blocks can easily be identified based on their color.

Part Of The Arkhe System

Lore-wise, the Pneuma and Ousia are the two opposing energies of Fontaine's Arkhe System. They are an essential part of Fontaine since they are the energy source of the nation's different mechanisms, pushing forward the country's innovation.

How To Use Pneuma & Ousia?

Overload By Attacking With The Opposite Alignment

Mechanisms powered by Ousia or Pneuma can be overloaded and disabled by overloading them. This can be done by attacking them with the energy type opposite to the one they have. For example, a Pneuma-powered Meka can be overloaded by attacking it with a Ousia-powered attack.

Get Pneuma & Ousia From Energy Blocks

You can imbue your character with Pneuma and Ousia energy by gaining the energy from specific blocks found around Fontaine. You can then unleash energy in your next Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack upon hit.

Different When On Ground & Water

Pneuma and Ousia energy can be used both when on ground and underwater. However, how they're used when underwater is different. Instead of attacking, you just need to approach the machine while imbued with the right energy.
