What Is A Spur Gear?
A Gear That Belongs To A Prototype
Spur Gear is a Fontaine material that can be found around the Fontaine Research Institute. Based on the Spur Gear's description it is said that these Spur Gears, C (x2) and T are parts of a prototype called Initial Skill Sample No. 2 and it got split out to various locations due to its vast external force. For the Spur Gear C, just defeat all the Hilichurls and the Meka enemies in the campsite to unlock the chest, where the gear is located.

To get the Spur Gear C, you just need to defeat all the Hilichurls in the Hilichurl camp and also activate the terminal machine so it will unlock the chest where the gear is located.
How To Activate The Terminal
You need to get the Energy Storage Terminal on the right side of the main camp (facing the main camp). Then go back and place it in front or near the terminal so it can be accessible. Click activate, when the metal ring moves to where the light is, then wait for the right timing and then quickly hit it. You can use Barbara for this challenge!

Destroy All The Storage Drums Inside To Unlock The Chest
After defeating all the enemies in the HIlichurl campsite, go inside the camp and then destroy all the storage drums in order to unseal the chest.
How To Use Spur Gear?
Assemble It To The Prototype
The prototype is located in the 3rd location. Upon collecting all the 3 Spur Gears, you may proceed to the top-most part of the prototype and assemble/insert it.
Use Any Pyro Character To Ignite The Fireworks
You can use any of the Pyro characters you have in your roster to ignite the fireworks. Make sure to leave the area once you ignited the fireworks to avoid getting any damage.

You can also use the water pump on the right side of the camp to make it easier to travel to the top of the prototype. Just rotate the handwheel to the correct position to unlock it. Also, a hydro slime will appear after unlocking, so make sure to defeat it as well!
Spur Gear - Rewards & Achievement
Unlock An Achievement
Upon completing this challenge, collecting the 3 Spur Gears, and assembling them to the prototype, you will be able to unlock an achievement called Undocumented Feature.
Mysterious Ore
Obtain a Mysterious Ore in the 3rd Spur Gear location as well!
