Roles & Playstyle Of Flins and Its Strengths and Weaknesses
Flins Is A Lunar-Charged On-Field Burst DPS
Flins is best used as an on-field DPS for Lunar-reaction teams. He mainly deals Lunar Charge damage from reactions produced and his Elemental Burst.
Pros and Cons of Lunar-Charged DPS Flins

| - Easy-to-use character that does not require complicated rotation while playing. |
| - Works best with Lunar-charged focused teams but can also work on various teams as long as Hydro is in it like Hyperbloom. |
| Cons |
| - Requires another Nod-Krai character in the team for Passive Activation. |
| - Without Ineffa as a sustain option, team damage greatly decreases. |
| - Outside Lunar-charge damage, his damage is fairly low. |

When building Flins as a DPS, his best set is the new Nod-Krai artifact set, Night Of The Sky's Unveiling. This is due to his unique gameplay of spamming Elemental Bursts to deal Direct Lunar-Charged Damage. He also doesn't need Electro DMG Bonus for a mainstat since Lunar-Charged isn't affected by it. The stats you need to build on him is ATK, CRIT Stats and Energy Recharge.
EM Is Good But Has Plenty Of Outside Sources
Elemental Mastery is also a good stat to have for increasing the damage of Flins. However, you can get this stat often from buffs provided by teammates like Sucrose and Ineffa. Stack up on Elemental Mastery but do not prioritize it over ATK.

Best Weapon for Flins
Flins' scaling on ATK means his best weapons are CRIT and ATK stat sticks. For both Lunar-Charged and Electro DPS builds, his weapon options are the same for Premium and F2P weapons.
Premium Weapons for Flins
| Weapon | How to Get Rating | |
|---|---|---|
| Best | Bloodsoaked Ruins | Get from Limited Banner - Boosts Lunar-Charged Damage and both CRIT stats of Flins. - Regenerates Energy for Flins, allowing him to spam his Elemental Burst more. |
| 2nd | Staff Of The Scarlet Sands | Get from Limited Banner - Signature Weapon of Cyno that's obtainable when his Banner is available. - While Flins scales on ATK for his damage, building Elemental Mastery is recommended for him since it can help reach the needed EM for Lunar-Charged's damage bonuses. |
| 3rd | Fractured Halo | Get from Limited Banner - Signature Weapon of Ineffa that's obtainable when her Banner is available. - Since Flins does not create a shield, this weapon serves mostly as a CRIT DMG and ATK stat stick for him. |
| 4th | Lumidouce Elegy | Get from Limited Banner - Signature Weapon of Emilie that's obtainable when her Banner is available - Good stat stick for CRIT Rate and ATK. |
| 5th | Staff Of Homa | Get from Limited Banner - Signature Weapon of Hu Tao that's obtainable when her Banner is available. - Stat stick for CRIT DMG and Attack. The extra HP% is welcome since Flins is an On-Field DPS who may have to take hits when failing to dodge or when the shield breaks. |
| 6th | Primordial Jade Winged-Spear | Get from Banners - Standard Weapon banner that can be obtained from Limited Weapon and Standard Banners. - Mostly acts as a CRIT Rate stat stick and has a ramping ATK buff. - Needs multiple hits on enemies to activate the Damage Dealt buff. |
| 7th | Deathmatch | Get from Battle Pass - CRIT Rate stat stick that can increase Flins' Attack greatly depending on the numbers of enemies are on the field. |
Flins' best weapon is likely his Signature Weapon and if he does scale similarly like Ineffa, who needs both ATK and Elemental Mastery, his other Premium Weapon options are likely to be CRIT and ATK stat sticks.
Free To Play Friendly (F2P Weapons) for Flins
| Weapon | How to Get Rating | |
|---|---|---|
| Best F2P | Prospector's Shovel | Nod-Krai Craftable Weapon - Boosts ATK and Lunar-Charged Damage for Flins. - While it doesn't boost CRIT Rate, Flins' artifact set can easily be built with more CRIT stats instead. |
| 2nd (Event) | Tamayuratei No Ohanashi | Get from Limited Event - Obtained from Version 5.4's flagship event. - Energy Recharge stat is good for more Elemental Bursts cast to deal more Direct Lunar-Charged Damage. |
| 3rd (Event) | Missive Windspear | Get from Limited Event - Obtained from Version 3.1's flagship event. - Greatly increases ATK and Elemental Mastery. - For Electro DPS build, this weapon is better to use compared to Tamayuratei No Ohanashi. |
The new Nod-Krai craftable polearm works great with Flins since he is a Lunar-Charged DPS. Other F2P weapon options for Flins are ATK or Elemental Mastery Stat Sticks for increasing his damage dealt.
All Weapon ListFlins Best Artifacts
Since Flins primarily scales with ATK% as an On-Field DPS, it's easy to see that the Artifact Sets good for him are ATK and damage boosting sets. Since Flins mainly deals Lunar-Charged damage, he does not need Electro Damage bonus since it does not affect transformative reactions. See the recommended Artifacts set below:
| Artifact | Recommendation Details |
|---|---|
Night of the Sky's Unveiling | ★★★★★ - 2-piece effect gives Elemental Mastery, which is ideal for better Lunar-Charged damage. - Gives extra CRIT Rate depending on the party's Moonsign level, with Ascendant Gleam (2 Nod-Krai characters) providing the most CRIT. - Lunar Reaction DMG is also slightly buffed when another Nod-Krai character (Off-Field support) in the party equips and activates the 4-piece effect of the Silken Moon's Serenade set. |
Any ATK% set Any ER set | ★★★★ ・ - Flins' playstyle is a mix between Normal Attacks and Elemental Burst spamming. - ATK and ER sets can be used to allow him to deal damage while also spamming his Elemental Burst. |

For Sub-Stats, Focus on ATK and CRIT stats then Energy Recharge
While Energy Recharge is important on Flins due to his playstyle of spamming Elemental Bursts, he still needs ATK and CRIT Stats to boost his damage. Additionally, Flins is an Electro character and Electro Resonance gives him more Energy gained so you can focus on his other stats first before Energy Recharge.

As a dedicated Lunar-Charged Support who can also provide Shields, Ineffa is one of Flins' best slot-in for his teams. She can also contribute to the team's damage since she is also a Sub-DPS character. Sucrose is the best VV holder for Lunar-Charged since her teamwide Elemental Mastery buff can greatly alleviate the EM requirements for the team. Aino is the best Hydro Support at C6 due to the Lunar-Charged buff but can be switched out for Yelan if you have her.

Team Rotation of Flins and Combos
Basic Team Rotation for On-Field DPS Flins
| Basic Rotation For On-Field DPS Flins |
|---|
| 1.Start with the supports in order of longest ability duration to the shortest one. 2. Swap to Flins, then use his Elemental Skill to first enter the Manifest Flame state, Normal Attack at least once, then use the Elemental Skill again while in this state to enable his special Elemental Burst. 3. Use Flins' special Elemental Burst. This one shouldn't have a close-up animation. 4. Do the special Skill into special Burst combo one more time as Flins while weaving in Normal Attacks between each action. 5. Repeat from Step 1. |
As an On-Field character, Flins' rotation is focused on gaining Energy and dealing damage with his Special Elemental Burst. Similar to Varesa, his Normal Elemental Burst is unused since it has a longer animation and takes up time in rotations while dealing the same amount of damage as his Special Burst.
Because Flins gains Energy from his Normal Attacks, it's recommended to spend the downtime during the 6-second cooldown of his Special Skill to do Normal Attacks. This is to ensure you have enough Energy for the next Special Burst, while also having some left over for the next rotation. You can also dash cancel after the 4th Normal Attack animation to save a few seconds.
Basics of Using Flins (Beginner Guide)
DPS for Lunar-Charged and Enables Lunar-Charged Reactions

Flins is a DPS that can deal Direct Lunar-Charged Damage through his Elemental Burst. Just like Ineffa, he converts the team's Electro-Charged Reactions into Lunar-Charged.
Doesn't Use Electro Damage Bonuses for Lunar-Charged Damage
If using Flins as a Lunar-Charged DPS, it's important to know that Electro Damage Bonuses do not affect Lunar-Charged. Since his kit deals a lot of Direct Lunar-Charged, only ATK and CRIT Stats are needed for Flins.
Read More About Lunar-Charged Here!Use Elemental Skill to Infuse Flins' Normal/Charged Attacks with Electro

▲ Flins' Normal & Charged Attacks changed to deal Electro Damage.
Flins' Elemental Skill infuses his Normal and Charged Attacks with Electro, making him a Reaction Driver as well. Assuming based on the trend of other Infusion characters, Flins' multipliers for his Electro Infused Attacks might be in his Elemental Skill instead of his Normal Attack Skill.
Elemental Skill also Changes his Elemental Burst
A similar character with this ability is Varesa who can change her Elemental Skill when you achieve the conditions needed. It appears that Flins changes his when his Elemental Skill is cast and the special Elemental Burst has fewer Attacks but a shorter cooldown.
Elemental Burst Deals Direct Lunar-Charged Damage

Flins' Elemental Burst deals Lunar-Charged Damage directly without needing the reaction. This makes any Lunar-Charged damage boosting Skills or Equipment able to boost it aside from Flins' own ATK stat.
Special Elemental Burst Has Fewer Hits But Lower Cost & CD
Flins changes his Elemental Burst after using his Elemental Skill. The special Elemental Burst has a lower Energy Cost and lower cooldown as well. However it has a lower amount of hits, making it weaker but more spammable.
Elemental Skill, Burst and Abilities Guide for Flins
How To Use Flins' Skills & Passives?
- ▼Dedicated On-Field DPS for the new Lunar-Charged Reaction.
- ▼Elemental Skill gives Electro infusion.
- ▼Elemental Burst has a special version that costs less energy.
- ▼Special Elemental Burst is generally better.
- ▼Requires Party to have the Ascendant Gleam Moonsign level.
- ▼Attack main stat artifacts may be better than EM.
- ▼Has special overworld interactions.
Dedicated On-Field DPS for the New Lunar-Charged Reaction
| Basic Rotation Of Flins |
| Note | Flins gains Energy in his Manifest Flame form via his Normal Attacks. He has some downtime between Skill usages, so it's recommended to fill this gap with Normal Attacks to get Energy for the Special Burst, regardless if his Normal Attacks barely do much damage. |
|---|
Flins is the first designated Lunar-Charged On-Field DPS, so it's easy to understand that he wants to focus on triggering the Lunar-Charged reaction over anything else. The bulk of Flins' damage therefore is condensed into his Special Burst, which deals considerable Lunar-Charged damage. His optimal combo emphasizes on using his special ability versions to reach his full damage potential.
Activate His Manifest Flame Form with His Elemental Skill
| Icon | Elemental Skill Summary |
|---|---|
Default Skill Ancient Rite: Arcane Light | Flins summons the ancient power of his lamp, entering Manifest Flame form: - Normal and Charged Attacks deal Electro DMG (cannot be overridden), Plunging Attacks disabled. - Interruption resistance increased. - Elemental Skill in this state changes to "Northland Spearstorm" (Special Elemental Skill). |
Special Skill Northland Spearstorm | - Only available after entering the Manifest Flame form. - Summons spears forward, dealing AoE Electro DMG. - Replaces Elemental Burst with "Thunderous Symphony" (Special Elemental Burst) for 6s. - Base CD 6s, unaffected by other effects. |
Flins' Elemental Skill effectively has two versions. The first one is the default skill that is immediately available. Activating Ancient Rite: Arcane Light enables Flins' Manifest Flame form or state, where his Normal and Charged attacks are now infused with Electro. In this state, his Skill is changed to Northland Spearstorm, which deals Lunar-Charged damage.
What this means is you always want to use Flins' Special Elemental Skill after you first enter Manifest Flame form and whenever the 6-second cooldown is done. Note that the actual damage of the Special Skill isn't anything meaningful, making this ability essentially a way of accessing or unlocking his Special Burst.
Elemental Burst Has a Special Version That Costs Less Energy
| Icon | Elemental Burst Summary |
|---|---|
Default Burst Ancient Ritual: Cometh the Night | - Flins unleashes the true power of his lamp: - Deals AoE Electro DMG. - After a short delay, deals 2 middle-phase (29.2% attack scaling at talent level 10) and 1 final-phase (210.5% attack scaling at talent level 10) AoE Electro DMG. - All DMG is considered Lunar-Charged DMG. Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam Effect: If thunderclouds are nearby, deals 2 extra middle-phase Lunar-Charged AoE Electro DMG. |
Special Burst Thunderous Symphony | - Replaces Default Burst for 6s after using Northland Spearstorm (Special Skill). - Consumes less Energy. - Deals 1 AoE Electro DMG instance as Lunar-Charged DMG. Moonsign Ascendant Gleam Effect: If thunderclouds are nearby, deals 1 extra Lunar-Charged AoE Electro DMG instance. |
Like his Skill, Flins' Elemental Burst has two versions. The first one, Ancient Ritual: Cometh the Night, is the default Burst that costs 80 Energy while having a close-up animation that's typical of a 5-star character's Burst. The second version, Thunderous Symphony, is made available after using his Special Skill and costs only 30 Energy. Both Burst versions have a unique additional damage effect whenever the party is at the Ascendant Gleam Moonsign level, which is why having another Nod-Krai character in Flins' party is key.
Special Elemental Burst is Generally Better
| Default Burst VS Special Burst | ||
|---|---|---|
| Default | Special | |
| Energy Cost | 80 Energy | 30 Energy |
| DMG | About the same as the Special Burst. | About the same as the Default Burst when used twice per rotation. |
| Ease of Play | Combo with Default Burst is a little more difficult to execute. | Combo using Special Bursts is easier to manage. |
| Energy Recharge Needed | Around 170%+ ER | Around 125%+ ER |
| Animation | Standard 5-Star Elemental Burst close-up animation. | No close-up animation. |
Flins is very similar to Varesa, as both prefer their discounted Bursts for varying reasons, but primarily due to efficiency. But Flins' Default Burst isn't completely unusable, as it works fine for overworld or casual content. In harder modes like the Stygian Onslaught, though, it requires stricter combos and higher Energy Recharge than needed for his special Burst, which is more than what he needs to cast his Special Burst twice per rotation. This makes the special Burst not only stronger but also easier to play and build around.
Requires Party to Have the Ascendant Gleam Moonsign Level
▼ Ascendant Gleam Moonsign Benefits| What Does Flins Get at Ascendant Gleam? | |
|---|---|
Thunderous Symphony (Special Burst) | Flins' Special Burst deals an additional instance of AoE Lunar-Charged damage. |
Symphony of Winter (Passive) | Lunar-Charged reactions triggered by Flins will deal an additional 20% DMG. |
New Moon's Embrace (Moonsign Resonance) | When a non-Moonsign character casts an Elemental Skill or Burst, they increase the Lunar Reaction DMG dealt by all party members based on their own elemental type, up to a total of 36% DMG increase. This effect cannot stack. |
Silken Moon's Serenade(Best Support set) | Gleaming Moon: Devotion (4-piece effect) 120 EM to all party members when party is at Ascendant Gleam Moonsign level. |
Night of the Sky's Unveiling(Best set for Flins) | Gleaming Moon: Intent (4-piece effect) 30% CRIT Rate to equipping character when party is at Ascendant Gleam Moonsign level. |
Like other Nod-Krai characters, Flins increases the party's Moonsign Level by 1 when added to a team. But unlike the recently released Nod-Krai characters, Flins always wants to have another Moonsign (Nod-Krai) character in his party due to all the benefits he gets from having the Ascendant Gleam Moonsign level active. His team building is naturally more rigid as a result, especially due to the limited number of Nod-Krai characters as of the current version.
If you want to keep his damage viable, ensure you have at least one of his ideal Nod-Krai supports in the same party.
Moonsign Guide & EffectsAttack Main Stat Artifacts May Be Better Than EM
Flins' best teams will usually have a surplus of Elemental Mastery (EM) buffs available. In this case, it's sometimes better to aim for Artifact pieces with ATK% as the main stat, rather than EM. Additionally, the Lunar-Charged reaction isn't affected by the DMG% buff from a Goblet, so Flins also wants an ATK or EM goblet over an Electro DMG% one.
Below are just some of the possible EM sources in a Premium Lunar-Charged Flins team. This doesn't account for sub-stat rolls, so the final total EM you'll have on Flins may be higher.
▼ Sources of Elemental Mastery| EM Sources for Flins Teams | |
|---|---|
Flins | Whispering Flame (Passive) Increases his EM by 8% of his ATK. Maximum of 160 EM. |
Silken Moon's Serenade | Gleaming Moon: Devotion (4-piece effect) Increases all party members' EM by 60/120 when the party has Nascent/Ascendant Moonsign level. |
Night of the Sky's Unveiling | 2-piece effect Equipping character gets 80 EM. |
Ineffa | Panoramic Permutation Protocol (Passive) After using her Burst, increases Ineffa and other party members' EM by 6% of Ineffa's ATK for 20s. |
Sucrose | Catalyst Conversion (Passive) After triggering a Swirl reaction, Increase the EM of a party member (except Sucrose) by 50 for 8s provided their element matches the one that was Swirled (in this case, Electro is ideal). Mollis Favonius (Passive) If Skill or Burst hits an enemy, increase all party members' (except Sucrose) EM by 20% of Sucrose's own EM for 8s. |
Has Special Overworld Interactions
Like Lauma, Flins has special overworld exploration interactions unique to him. Some of these interactions range from him being able to understand the Wild Hunt monsters, being able to talk amicably to the ghosts at the Final Night Cemetery (and receive special World Quests from them), and being able to interact with the Lightkeeper lanterns scattered around Nod-Krai, among others. So while exploring the new region, it's recommended to have either Lauma or Flins in the party for a more immersive experience.
Should You Pull for Flins's Constellation Or Best Weapon?
Prioritize Constellation 1 For Damage
| Signature VS Constellation |
|---|
C1 > Bloodsoaked Ruins > C2 |
C1 Allows You to Do 3 Special Bursts Per Rotation
Flins' main source of damage is his special Elemental Burst. C1 allows you to do one more shot of the short Elemental Burst, effectively increasing the damage of Flins by x1.5. However, since you will use more Elemental Bursts, building more on Energy Recharge will be required to maximize this effect.
Depending on the support you have, pulling for Signature Weapon can be more Stable
The supports that are normally paired with Flins, such as Sucrose (with Viridescent Venerer) and Aino, have a short uptime of buffs and debuffs. More often than not, the third Elemental Burst will not be affected by buffs, making it weaker compared to the first two short Bursts. If you are planning on using those characters with short uptime, Signature Weapon can be a better choice.
The Best Stopping Point is To Have Both C1 and Signature Weapon
The energy provided by Signature works amazingly with the Constellation 1 of Flins. If you want to vertically invest in Flins, a combination of Signature and Constellation 1 is the best stopping point.
