Flins is a 5-star Electro character who wields a Polearm in Genshin Impact. His gameplay focuses on being an On-Field DPS, specializing in applying Electro and dealing Lunar-Charged damage with his special Elemental Burst. His Elemental Skill, "Ancient Rite: Arcane Light," enhances his Normal and Charged Attacks, while his Elemental Burst, "Ancient Ritual: Cometh the Night," unleashes the power within his lamp to deal powerful Electro damage, which is considered Lunar-Charged damage. Lorewise, Flins is a Lightkeeper from Nod-Krai and fights against the Wild Hunt, a group of Abyssal monsters that encroach upon Nod-Krai.

In battle, Flins is an On-Field DPS that mostly deals damage with his special Elemental Burst. Similar to Ineffa, he can also enable Lunar-Charged reactions when Electro-Charged is triggered with him on the team. His skill infuses his attacks with Electro while both of his Bursts can deal Direct Lunar-Charged DMG.

Flins' Roles, Playstyle, Strengths and Weaknesses

Flins Is A Lunar-Charged On-Field Burst DPS

Flins is best used as an on-field DPS for Lunar-reaction teams. He mainly deals Lunar Charge damage from reactions and his Elemental Burst.

Pros and Cons of Lunar-Charged DPS Flins

Pros
- An easy-to-use character that does not require complicated rotations.
- Works best with Lunar-charge-focused teams, but can also fit into various teams as long as a Hydro character is present, such as in Hyperbloom, Overload, or Vaporize teams.
Cons
- Requires another Nod-Krai character on the team to activate his passive ability.
- Without Ineffa as a sustain option, team damage greatly decreases.
- Outside of his Lunar Charge damage, his personal damage is fairly low.

When building Flins as a DPS, his best set is the new Nod-Krai artifact set, Night Of The Sky's Unveiling. This is due to his unique gameplay of spamming Elemental Bursts to deal Direct Lunar-Charged Damage. He also doesn't need Electro DMG Bonus as a main stat since Lunar-Charged Damage isn't affected by it. The stats you need to build on him are ATK, CRIT Stats, and Energy Recharge.

EM Is A Good Stat, But Can Be Sourced Externally

Elemental Mastery is also a good stat for increasing Flins' damage. However, this stat can often be obtained from buffs provided by teammates like Sucrose and Ineffa. While it's beneficial to have some Elemental Mastery, do not prioritize it over ATK.

Flins Best Artifacts

As an On-Field DPS that scales with ATK%, the best Artifacts for Flins are sets that boost his ATK and overall damage. Since his main source of damage, Lunar-Charged, is a transformative reaction, he does not need an Electro DMG Bonus. See the recommended Artifact sets below:

- Columbina replaces Aino as the team's Hydro applier. Her buffs to Lunar Reactions will increase the team's overall damage.

As a powerful Lunar-Charged Sub-DPS, Ineffa is an excellent partner for Flins since both of their Passives boost Lunar-Charged DMG. With Columbina applying Hydro and buffing reaction damage, both Flins and Ineffa can deal significant damage. Sucrose acts as the Viridescent Venerer holder, shredding enemies' Electro RES and providing a large EM buff to the team.

Team Rotation of Flins and Combos

Basic Team Rotation for On-Field DPS Flins

Basic Rotation For On-Field DPS Flins
1.Start with the supports in order of longest ability duration to the shortest one.
2. Swap to Flins, then use his Elemental Skill to first enter the Manifest Flame state, Normal Attack at least once, then use the Elemental Skill again while in this state to enable his special Elemental Burst.
3. Use Flins' special Elemental Burst. This one shouldn't have a close-up animation.
4. Do the special Skill into special Burst combo one more time as Flins while weaving in Normal Attacks between each action.
5. Repeat from Step 1.

As an On-Field character, Flins' rotation is focused on gaining Energy and dealing damage with his Special Elemental Burst. Similar to Varesa, his Normal Elemental Burst is unused since it has a longer animation and takes up time in rotations while dealing the same amount of damage as his Special Burst.

Because Flins gains Energy from his Normal Attacks, it's recommended to spend the downtime during the 6 second cooldown of his Special Skill to do Normal Attacks. This is to ensure you have enough Energy for the next Special Burst, while also having some left over for the next rotation. You can also dash cancel after the 4th Normal Attack animation to save a few seconds.

Basics of Using Flins (Beginner Guide)

Lunar-Charged DPS & Reaction Enabler

Lunar-Charged DPS

Flins is a DPS who deals Direct Lunar-Charged Damage with his Elemental Burst. Similar to Ineffa, he also converts the team's Electro-Charged Reactions into Lunar-Charged.

Lunar-Charged Damage Doesn't Scale With Electro DMG Bonus

When building Flins as a Lunar-Charged DPS, it's important to know that Electro DMG Bonus does not affect Lunar-Charged damage. Since his kit deals a significant amount of Direct Lunar-Charged damage, you should prioritize ATK and CRIT stats for him.

Read More About Lunar-Charged Here!

Use Elemental Skill to Infuse Flins' Normal/Charged Attacks with Electro

Elemental Skill Infuses Electro

▲ Flins' Normal & Charged Attacks changed to deal Electro Damage.

Flins' Elemental Skill infuses his Normal and Charged Attacks with Electro, allowing him to act as a Reaction Driver. Based on how other infusion characters work, the damage multipliers for his Electro-infused attacks are likely part of his Elemental Skill talent, not his Normal Attack talent.

Elemental Skill also Changes his Elemental Burst

This is similar to Varesa whose abilities can change after meeting certain conditions. After Flins casts his Elemental Skill, his Elemental Burst is altered to have fewer attacks but a shorter cooldown.

Elemental Burst Deals Direct Lunar-Charged Damage

Elemental Burst

Flins' Elemental Burst deals Lunar-Charged Damage directly without needing to trigger a reaction. This means that in addition to his own ATK stat, his Burst damage can be increased by any skills or equipment that boost Lunar-Charged damage.

Special Elemental Burst Has Fewer Hits But Lower Cost & CD

After using his Elemental Skill, Flins' Elemental Burst changes. This special version has a lower Energy Cost and a shorter cooldown. However, it also has fewer hits, making it weaker overall but more spammable.

Elemental Skill, Burst and Abilities Guide for Flins

How To Use Flins' Skills & Passives

Dedicated On-Field DPS for the New Lunar-Charged Reaction

Basic Rotation for Flins
1. Start with your supports, using their abilities from longest to shortest duration.
2. Swap to Flins and use his Elemental Skill to enter the Manifest Flame state. Perform at least one Normal Attack, then use his Elemental Skill again to enable his special Elemental Burst.
3. Use Flins' special Elemental Burst, which does not have a close-up animation.
4. Repeat the special Skill into special Burst combo one more time, weaving in Normal Attacks between each action.
5. Repeat from Step 1.
NoteFlins gains Energy in his Manifest Flame form via his Normal Attacks. He has some downtime between Skill usages, so it's recommended to fill this gap with Normal Attacks to get Energy for the Special Burst even if his Normal Attacks don't do much damage.

Flins is the first designated Lunar-Charged On-Field DPS, so it's easy to understand that he wants to focus on triggering the Lunar-Charged reaction over anything else. The bulk of Flins' damage, therefore, comes from his Special Burst, which deals considerable Lunar-Charged damage. His optimal combo puts an emphasis on using his special ability versions to reach his full damage potential.

Activate His Manifest Flame Form with His Elemental Skill

IconElemental Skill Summary
Default Skill Ancient Rite: Arcane Light (Default Skill)Ancient Rite: Arcane Light Flins summons the ancient power of his lamp, entering Manifest Flame form:
- Normal and Charged Attacks deal Electro DMG (cannot be overridden), and his Plunging Attacks are disabled.
- Interruption resistance increased.
- Elemental Skill in this state changes to "Northland Spearstorm" (Special Elemental Skill).
Special Skill Northland SpearstormNorthland Spearstorm- Only available after entering the Manifest Flame form.
- Summons spears forward, dealing AoE Electro DMG.
- Replaces Elemental Burst with "Thunderous Symphony" (Special Elemental Burst) for 6s.
- Base CD 6s, unaffected by other effects.

Flins' Elemental Skill effectively has two versions. The first one is the default skill that is immediately available. Activating Ancient Rite: Arcane Light enables Flins' Manifest Flame form or state where his Normal and Charged attacks are now infused with Electro. In this state, his Skill is changed to Northland Spearstorm, which deals Lunar-Charged damage.

What this means is you always want to use Flins' Special Elemental Skill after you first enter Manifest Flame form and whenever the 6-second cooldown is over. Note that the actual damage of the Special Skill isn't anything meaningful, making this ability essentially a way of accessing or unlocking his Special Burst.

Elemental Burst Has a Special Version That Costs Less Energy

IconElemental Burst Summary
Default BurstAncient Ritual: Cometh the Night (Default Burst)Ancient Ritual: Cometh the Night- Flins unleashes the true power of his lamp:
- Deals AoE Electro DMG.
- After a short delay, deals 2 middle-phase (29.2% attack scaling at talent level 10) and 1 final-phase (210.5% attack scaling at talent level 10) AoE Electro DMG.
- All DMG is considered Lunar-Charged DMG.
Moonsign: Ascendant Gleam Effect: If thunderclouds are nearby, deals 2 extra middle-phase Lunar-Charged AoE Electro DMG.
Special BurstThunderous Symphony (Special Burst)Thunderous Symphony - Replaces Default Burst for 6s after using Northland Spearstorm (Special Skill).
- Consumes less Energy.
- Deals 1 AoE Electro DMG instance as Lunar-Charged DMG.
Moonsign Ascendant Gleam Effect: If thunderclouds are nearby, deals 1 extra Lunar-Charged AoE Electro DMG instance.

Like his Skill, Flins' Elemental Burst has two versions. The first one, Ancient Ritual: Cometh the Night, is the default Burst that costs 80 Energy while having a close-up animation that's typical of a 5-star character's Burst. The second version, Thunderous Symphony, is made available after using his Special Skill and costs only 30 Energy. Both Burst versions have a unique additional damage effect whenever the party is at the Ascendant Gleam Moonsign level, which is why having another Nod-Krai character in Flins' party is key.

Special Elemental Burst is Generally Better

Default Burst VS Special Burst
DefaultSpecial

AnimationStandard 5-Star Elemental Burst close-up animation.No close-up animation.

Flins is very similar to Varesa, as both prefer their discounted Bursts for varying reasons, but primarily due to efficiency. But Flins' Default Burst isn't completely unusable, as it works fine for overworld or casual content. In harder modes like the Stygian Onslaught, though, it requires stricter combos and more Energy Recharge than is needed to cast his Special Burst twice per rotation. This makes the special Burst not only stronger but also easier to play and build around.

Gleaming Moon: Intent (4-piece effect)

Like other Nod-Krai characters, Flins increases the party's Moonsign Level by 1 when added to a team. But unlike the recently released Nod-Krai characters, Flins always wants to have another Moonsign (Nod-Krai) character in his party due to all the benefits he gets from having the Ascendant Gleam Moonsign level active. His team building is naturally more rigid as a result, especially due to the limited number of Nod-Krai characters as of the current version.

If you want to keep his damage viable, ensure you have at least one of his ideal Nod-Krai supports in the same party.

Ideal Nod-Krai Supports as of Version 6.0 (Luna I)

Moonsign Guide & Effects

Attack Main Stat Artifacts May Be Better Than EM

Flins' best teams will usually have a surplus of Elemental Mastery (EM) buffs available. In this case, it's sometimes better to aim for Artifact pieces with ATK% as the main stat, rather than EM. Additionally, the Lunar-Charged reaction isn't affected by the DMG% buff from a Goblet, so Flins also wants an ATK or EM goblet over an Electro DMG% one.

Below are just some of the possible EM sources in a Premium Lunar-Charged Flins team. This doesn't account for sub-stat rolls, so the final total EM you'll have on Flins may be higher.

▼ Sources of Elemental Mastery

SucroseSucroseCatalyst Conversion (Passive)
After triggering a Swirl reaction, increases the EM of party members (except Sucrose) by 50 for 8s, provided their element matches the one that was Swirled (in this case, Electro is ideal).
Mollis Favonius (Passive)
Hitting an enemy with her Skill or Burst increases all other party members' (except Sucrose) EM by 20% of Sucrose's own EM for 8s.

Has Special Overworld Interactions

Like Lauma, Flins has special overworld exploration interactions unique to him. Some of these interactions range from him being able to understand the Wild Hunt monsters, being able to talk amicably to the ghosts at the Final Night Cemetery (and receive special World Quests from them), and being able to interact with the Lightkeeper lanterns scattered around Nod-Krai, among others. So while exploring the new region, it's recommended to have either Lauma or Flins in the party for a more immersive experience.

Should You Pull for Flins's Constellation Or Best Weapon?

Prioritize Constellation 1 For Damage

Signature VS Constellation
C1 > Bloodsoaked RuinsBloodsoaked Ruins > C2

C1 Allows You to Use 3 Special Bursts Per Rotation

Flins' main source of damage is his special Elemental Burst. C1 allows you to use one more charge of his Elemental Burst, effectively increasing Flins' damage by 1.5x. However, since you will be using his Elemental Burst more often, building more Energy Recharge is required to maximize this effect.

Signature Weapon Can Be More Consistent Depending On Your Supports

Supports that are normally paired with Flins, such as Sucrose (with Viridescent Venerer) and Aino, provide buffs and debuffs with short durations. More often than not, the third Elemental Burst will not be affected by these buffs, making it weaker than the first two. If you are planning on using characters with short buff/debuff uptimes, his Signature Weapon can be a better choice.

The Best Stopping Point Is Having Both C1 & His Signature Weapon

The Energy provided by his Signature Weapon works amazingly with Flins' Constellation 1. If you want to vertically invest in Flins, a combination of his Signature Weapon and Constellation 1 is the best stopping point.
