Durin Has Flexible Team Options

Durin's ability to be placed into multiple teams that appreciate Off-Field Pyro application allows him plenty of flexibility when it comes to team choices. He also contributes a non-negligible amount of damage, which further increases the value he brings to a team.

His Sub-DPS capability received a noticeable upgrade following the release of Nicole, and pairing him with her makes up a strong, Pyro and ATK%-focused core for a good number of old and new DPSes, even enabling some to become viable again in the current state of the meta (for endgame content).

As of the current version, the above setup is arguably Varka's best team if judging by damage potential alone. This is due to the Nicole-Durin pairing being a very effective duo that provides meaningful buffs and comfort (thanks to Nicole's shield) that by design synergizes well with Varka's intended playstyle.

Durin's personal damage should also be at least half of the total team DPS thanks to a lot of Nicole's buffs affecting the entire party, which includes her ATK% buff and the DMG% boost from the Celestial Gift set.

Anemo DPS Team Rotation (Varka)

Varka	Wanderer Xiao Chasca Venti (On-Field)	- Almost all of the Anemo DPSes have no problem slotting in both Durin and Nicole in their teams, and it's likely that this might even be one of their stronger possible comps. - Varka is, of course, going to be the best option due to him being a Hexerei On-Field DPS designed to take full advantage of the Durin-Nicole pairing.
Prune	Venti Ifa Lan Yan Sucrose Faruzan	- Prune, especially at C6, provides a substantial DMG% and ATK% buff that synergizes well with Varka across all his team variations, not just his Pyro team. It makes sense that she is his best Anemo teammate, but Venti is the strongest alternative that should be on par with Prune up until her C2. - You can still make do with other Anemo Off-Field supports that can equip Viridescent Venerer or other useful buffing sets. - For the other Anemo DPSes, Faruzan should take Prune's slot on the team since their damage is primarily Anemo DMG, which Faruzan substantially buffs.
Nicole	Bennett Thoma	- Despite her ATK% buff amounting to the same total as Bennett's, the additional damage provided by her shield, enabling Varka to perform uninterrupted attack combos, and her buffs being teamwide, which lets Durin contribute more Off-Field DPS, all work together to make this team more meta competitive in terms of DPS. - Bennett will still be your best Nicole substitute overall, though the lack of a shield and Durin being unbuffed will be noticeable.

The team above was designed to have strong inherent synergy between the three Hexerei members, notably through the way their abilities benefit each other's. It also has a unique gameplay characteristic where the On-Field DPS (Lohen), has a kit mechanic that's dependent on the Off-Field DPS' (Durin) damage.

Because Lohen was given the exact talents and elemental application needed to be the premier Cryo On-Field DPS to pair alongside Durin in his Dragon of Dark Decay form, this comp will be the best use case for it, and other variants may be underwhelming as a result.

Her being Cryo also activates Cryo Resonance, which gives a teamwide CRIT Rate boost. - As a rule of thumb, you'll want to replace Citlali with another RES Shred support like Xilonen or Sucrose with Viridescent Venerer equipped, or a secondary Cryo Off-Field support that can either add more Cryo application or other meaningful buffs. - Optionally, you can also replace Citlali with a Dendro character like Emilie to enable Burning to happen. This way, you can shift the team focus into a Reverse Melt team instead with Lohen triggering most of the Melt hits.
Lohen	Wriothesley Ganyu	- Since Lohen is intended to be the best option for Melt Durin, other alternatives are very likely to produce worse results damage-wise. - While other dedicated Cryo On-Field DPSes won't have similar synergy with Dark Dragon Durin, you can still use either Wriothesley and Ganyu as a Lohen substitute in less intense endgame content such as the Spiral Abyss or Imaginarium Theatre.
Nicole	Bennett Kazuha Furina Sucrose Albedo Xilonen	- It is difficult to replace Nicole for the Lohen-Durin pairing since, as ATK scalers, they greatly benefit from Nicole's teamwide ATK% buff and an active Pyro Resonance. Expect the alternatives to have worse results. - Bennett's ATK% buff is about the same in total ATK provided, but because his buff only affects the active character, Durin's own DPS suffers. This isn't ideal, considering he's the one triggering the Melts. - Beyond Bennett, you can consider supports that can enable some form of offensive buff that affects the entire party, such as universal RES shredders or generic DMG% supports like Kazuha and Furina. - If you have him, Albedo is also a decent addition when paired with Xilonen since his personal damage can slightly compensate for lower Durin damage output if you don't have Nicole.

Durin's high uptime Pyro application that follows the active character has great value in Kinich's teams considering his very mobile playstyle that demands all the field time, making Durin one of the better Pyro supports for Kinich (and Emilie).

Durin becomes an even stronger teammate option for Kinich if you have Nicole to compound ATK% and DMG% buffs, a shield for smoother Kinich combos, and to enable Durin's Hexerei: Secret Rite passive that increases the amount of RES he shreds.

Kinich-Emilie Burning Team Rotation

Emilie	Iansan Nahida	- Other Dendro options do not interact with the reaction as much and instead serve as Dendro appliers for Kinich. They would also be equipped with Deepwood Memories instead. - Alternatively, you could also consider Iansan as well. This will shift the DPS focus solely on Kinich, who can get some use out of her ATK buff and her ability to trigger the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City set. └ Note that due to the Burning aura and how the Scroll set works, the effect will not have permanent uptime. You need to use Kinich's Burst at the start of the rotation for Iansan to proc it properly.
Nicole	Bennett Iansan	- Nicole allows the Kinich-Emilie Burning team perform close to its peak potential at a baseline, and the ease-of-play value that Nicole's shield grants to Kinich also cannot be understated. - The best substitutes for Nicole in terms of damage are ATK buffers like Iansan or Bennett, with Bennett having a stronger advantage as a true healer-type character, unlike Iansan, whose heals are very minimal in comparison.

Overload Teams are best played with Chevreuse, since she provides Electro and Pyro RES Shred alongside a teamwide ATK% buff that both Durin and Varesa can make use of.

Iansan	Bennett Fischl Ororon	- Iansan is Varesa's best teammate due to her Nightsoul mechanic that helps her charge her special Bursts a little easier. - Iansan brings a sizeable ATK% buff to the team, alongside some healing. Bennett has the same functions, but is limited by his Burst area, making him a less optimal choice for the very mobile Varesa. - Apart from the two ATK buffers, you can also slot in an Electro sub-DPS in a pinch if you have neither, but expect the DPS potential to be lower.
Chevreuse	Nicole	- Chevreuse is considered the most important piece in an Overload team typically, due to her Pyro and Electro RES shred, healing, ATK% buff and CRIT DMG boost at C6. - However, you can in fact replace her with Nicole in this setup to receive a teamwide ATK% increase and DMG% buff from the Celestial Gift set. Nicole also lets Durin activate his Hexerei passive for a more potent RES shred.

While Durin can't shred Hydro, he's still a viable option for Off-Field Pyro application in a Mualani team since he can sustain the application pretty easily, while also contributing a decent amount of personal damage. He fills the same niche as Mavuika on the team, albeit you lose out on Mavuika's DMG% buff and her own DPS.

With the buffs he received from the Witch's Homework system, Albedo also becomes a convincing partner alongside Durin in a Mualani Vaporize team since he'll now provide a decent amount of personal DPS, Elemental Mastery on Burst, and Geo Resonance with Xilonen.

Vaporize Team Rotation (Mualani)

Xilonen	Zhongli EmilieMona	- Xilonen is arguably Mualani's best teammate, since she provides Hydro RES Shred, the Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City buff, healing, and contributes to Mualani's Nightsoul passive that increases her damage. - Alternatives are going to range from generic shredders like Zhongli or Sucrose, Dendro units to enable Burning for additional DPS such as Emilie, or a Hydro buffing unit like Mona to enable Hydro Resonance, for the HP% increase.
Albedo	Chiori Sucrose Mona	- The last slot in a Mualani team is often considered a flex slot, which implies the slot isn't strictly designated for a specific character or type. - Albedo with his new buffs is one of the more ideal options, but you can also slot in an additional RES shredder and Elemental Mastery buffer like Sucrose, a Sub-DPS like Chiori, or a Hydro buffer like Mona.

Combining the Overload reaction with the Vaporize reaction can result in a decent performance since these reactions can coexist. But since the Overload has no Chevreuse for RES Shred, and the Vaporize has no true Elemental Mastery buffer, it is obviously weaker than their dedicated teams.

It's still a viable team option, however, and is likely able to clear most endgame content apart from Stygian Onslaught Difficulty 5 and 6.

Rotation Of Overvape Team (Arlecchino)

An Overvape team will typically be very flexible when it comes to teammate composition, but it's still recommended to have a balance of elemental application, buffing capability, and sustain to see decent overall results.

A Geo team can slot in Durin, for his Geo RES shred, and Albedo for his personal DPS that'd been buffed thanks to the Witch's Homework system. Having both on the team is a strong Geo Core since they enable each other's Hexenzirkel passives. Navia gets the most benefit out of it since Durin helps to trigger Crystallize, which she uses to fire her enhanced Skill shots.

This Geo Team variant (with an ATK% scaling Geo DPS) also saw a noticeable damage increase following Nicole's release, mostly due to her strong synergy with Durin.

Geo DPS Team Rotation (Navia)

She can do this on her own through Burst, but you'd need to build her with Energy Recharge in mind for it, and that can cut into her DPS a bit. - If your Navia has enough ER to use her Burst every rotation, a different Sub-DPS like Fischl can be a choice.
Nicole	Bennett Mona Fischl Furina	- Nicole is the premiere option in a lot of teams that can flex Durin, and this team is no exception. However, since Navia's gameplay is quite flexible, you can readily substitute Nicole with other generic buffers like Bennett and still see serviceable results. - Other Hexerei characters should also be considered since they can equip the Celestial Gift set (just not with perfect set effect uptime). - Furina's HP drain mechanic for her Fanfare stacks requires a healer, so pairing her with Xilonen is often the most recommended step to take if you want to deploy Furina in this setup.
