Varka is similar to Chasca and can deal different Elemental DMG aside from Anemo. His two ascension passives restrict his team options to a combination of 2 Anemo characters, including himself, and 2 other teammates that are both either Pyro, Hydro, Electro or Cryo.

As a Hexerei character, Varka can benefit from both Durin and Venti's abilities even if he doesn't scale on ATK. Since Varka needs 2 Anemo and 2 same PHEC Elements, Pyro Resonance buffs Varka's ATK, and Bennett is a great support and healer for him.

| Varka needs both Venti and Durin to form his current best team. These two characters perfectly accommodate Varka's teambuilding restrictions that require 2 Anemo characters plus 2 PHEC characters that share an element (for several DMG% buffs), and a Hexerei teammate, which enables Varka's Hexerei passive and lets him gain full use of the Rising Winds 4-piece effect and access to the CRIT DMG buff from his Signature Weapon. Venti provides a small DMG% buff for Varka on this team, but it's modest in comparison to Lauma's buffs that Nefer makes great use of. Additionally, Durin's personal damage is noticeably lower in Varka teams due to not receiving Bennett's buff, since he only buffs the active character. So while Venti and Durin are considered part of Varka's best team, they aren't 100% perfect for Varka and it's possible that he may receive even better teammates later down the line. Durin holds a slightly more fixed position in Varka's team due to his RES shred, but Venti and Bennett could be removed in favor of future supports. As of the current version, Varka needs Venti and Durin to reach his maximum DPS potential. but if you don't care for meta and aren't consistently trying to clear endgame, then they aren't mandatory pulls since they can be replaced. |

| Assuming Free-to-Play standards, Varka without Venti and/or Durin likely results in a performance similar to other A tier characters. Whether or not he'll be worth pulling for when your account is missing one or both of his best supports will depend on the state of your account and personal in-game goals. |
| - You really like Varka as a character and enjoy his playstyle. - You aren't concerned with the meta or clearing Stygian Onslaught at Difficulty 5 and 6. - You're missing an Anemo DPS and/or already have at least two or three other strong, SS or S tier teams for endgame content. - You plan to eventually get at least Durin in the future, or have plans to vertically invest into Varka's Constellations and Signature Weapon to compensate for Venti and Durin's absences. - You have either Durin OR Venti, and not missing both. Having at least one of them in a Varka team can provide decent enough results to clear certain endgame modes, barring Stygian Onslaught at Difficulty 5 and 6. - You managed to get his Signature Weapon. |

Cryo Resonance is a decent alternative to Double Pyro since the 15% CRIT Rate can work with the Rising Winds set to allow Varka to build more CRIT DMG. However, its buff is reliant on enemies being afflicted with Cryo, making it a weaker option compared to Varka's Double Pyro team.

When replacing the Cryo characters, any of them aside from Citlali can hold the Scroll set, though the effect will be much weaker. The best alternative Cryo supports are Citlali and either Mika or Rosaria.

If you don't have good Pyro or Cryo characters to pair with Varka, a Double Hydro team is a good option, especially with Furina, who both buffs and deals significant damage. Sigewinne is the strongest Hydro healer whose healing applies to the whole team, which helps stack Furina's Fanfare mechanic.

When substituting characters, make sure at least one Hexerei character is used (Venti or Mona) and if Furina is on the team, bring at least one good healer to offset her HP drain. A shielder can also be used, but a healer is preferred due to Furina's HP drain.
