Team Rating
Description
▼ Anemo-Pyro Team★★★★★
- Varka's strongest team setup overall thanks to how much he benefits from the RES Shred, ATK% and DMG% buffs from the Durin and Nicole pairing.
- Prune is designed to be Varka's dedicated Anemo Support that grants even more ATK% and DMG% buffs. She is equivalent Venti in terms of buffing value once she has her C2, and is arguably the best Anemo buffer for Varka at C6.
- The Pyro Resonance teamwide ATK% buff places this team even further ahead of any other PHEC Varka team.
▼ Anemo-Cryo Team★★★・・
- 2nd best "Duo Element" PHEC team for Varka is Cryo since its Resonance effect gives a CRIT Rate buff.
- There aren't many very synergistic Cryo supports for Varka, but it's still a viable team setup for him.
▼ Anemo-Hydro Team★★・・・
- 3rd best "Duo Element" PHEC team for Varka is Hydro since it has powerful buffers and Sub-DPS characters.
- The Hydro Resonance Max HP increase isn't very appealing for Varka who scales with ATK.

Varka is similar to Chasca and can deal more than just Anemo DMG with his attacks while in his enhanced Skill state. His two ascension passives restrict his team options to a combination of 2 Anemo characters, including himself, and 2 other teammates that are both either Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or Cryo.

Varka Genshin ImpactNote! The strongest main stat for Varka's Goblet in his Pyro team should be Pyro DMG Bonus. But the difference between an ATK% or a Pyro Goblet will depend on the sub-stat lineup. Choose whichever provides the better stats.

As a Hexerei character, Varka naturally checks all the ability requirements needed to realize the full potential of the Durin-Nicole pairing. This team supplies Varka with a lot of ATK% and DMG% buffs, as well as being an extremely comfy team to pilot thanks to the interruption resistance given by Nicole's shield.

Since Varka's entire gameplay loop focuses on his attack combo while in his Skill state, being able to execute said combos results in a noticeable DPS increase.

Anemo-Pyro Varka Team Rotation

No.Procedure
1Start with Nicole. Deploy her Skill. Burst is optional, but for maximum DPS, it's best to skip it.
Nicole goes first if she doesn't have Thrilling Tales (TTDS) equipped. The rotation order with TTDS would be [ Durin → Prune → Nicole → Varka.]
2Switch to Durin. Use his Elemental Skill, then deploy his Burst. Use his Skill again to enter Dragon of White Flame mode for the Anemo and Pyro RES shred.
If Nicole has Thrilling Tales equipped, you can do Burst into Skill (x2) instead.
3Use Prune's Skill, then Burst.
4Swap to Varka. Use his Skill. Use Normal Attacks to deal damage, occasionally weave in a Charged Attack or special Skill when it comes up.
One ideal Varka combo is: Skill → [ Normal Attack (x1) → Charged Attack ] → [ Normal Attack (x4) → Skill ] x2 → [ Normal Attack (x1) → Charged Attack ] x2
5Repeat from Step 1.

PrunePrune (C2+)VentiVenti
IfaIfa
Lan YanLan Yan
SucroseSucrose
- Varka has a decent amount of Prune substitutes, but all of them won't be as good in terms of buffing potential.
- Venti is still usable alongside Varka since his DMG% buffs and personal damage place him around more or less equivalent to Prune pre-C2.
- Ifa will equip Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City, then use his Skill followed by one Normal Attack to provide the DMG% from the set.
- Lan Yan provides a shield and a bit of RES Shred with the Viridescent Venerer set.
- Sucrose activates Varka's Hexerei passive, but her Elemental Mastery buffs and her small DMG buffs aren't very impactful for Varka overall.
DurinDurinThomaThoma
MavuikaMavuika
XianglingXiangling
- Durin activates Varka's Hexerei: Secret Rite passive, while also providing Anemo RES shred on top of his decent personal damage contribution that is nothing to sneeze at when Nicole is providing a teamwide ATK% buff.
- Other Pyro supports with some manner of offensive or defensive utility can be deployed in place of Durin; just do not expect it to be equal in performance.
Nicole NicoleBennettBennett
DehyaDehya
- Nicole's teamwide ATK% buff and shield are all things Varka greatly appreciate, especially if Durin is there to put the ATK% buff to good use.
- But you can still use Bennett in place of Nicole since they offer the same total amount of ATK%. Bennett's healing can also act as decent sustain, just note that you'll be losing the comfort provided by a shield.
- Dehya is a worse but serviceable option just for interruption resistance, but she won't be able to buff Varka unless she has the Tenacity set equipped.
Does Varka Need Durin-Prune-Nicole?
Varka needs Durin, Prune, and Nicole to form his current best team. All these supports perfectly accommodate Varka's teambuilding restrictions that require 2 Anemo characters plus 2 PHEC characters that share an element (for several DMG% buffs), and a Hexerei teammate, which enables Varka's Hexerei passive and lets him gain full use of the Rising Winds 4-piece effect and access to the CRIT DMG buff from his Signature Weapon.
Nicole's teamwide ATK% and DMG% (from the Celestial Gift set) buffs greatly benefit both Varka and Durin, so not only does Varka gain a decent DPS increase, but Durin also contributes more personal damage which overall makes Varka's team's DPS much better than what it was on his release.
Prune is also vastly better than Venti the more Constellations you have of her. Furthermore, they're only equal in terms of value if Venti can deal damage with his Burst, which may not always be the case in certain endgame scenarios.
As of the current version, Varka needs Durin, Nicole and Prune to reach his maximum DPS potential. This setup allows him to be competitive with the top meta teams and makes it easier for him to clear certain endgame stages at baseline investment.
Varka Genshin ImpactNote!Apart from securing all of the three supports, another way of increasing Varka's DPS is by securing Gest of the Mighty Wolf, Varka's Signature Weapon. See why his Signature is better than his Constellations for early vertical investment here.
Is Varka Worth Pulling Without His Best Supports?
Assuming Free-to-Play standards, Varka without Nicole, Prune and/or Durin likely results in a performance similar to other A tier characters. Whether or not he'll be worth pulling for when your account is missing one or all of his best supports will depend on the state of your account and personal in-game goals.
- You really like Varka as a character and enjoy his playstyle.
- You aren't concerned with the meta or clearing Stygian Onslaught at Difficulty 5 and 6.
- You're missing an Anemo DPS and/or already have at least two or three other strong, SS or S tier teams for endgame content.
- You plan to eventually get at least Durin or Prune in the future, or have plans to vertically invest into Varka's Constellations and Signature Weapon to compensate for Nicole, Prune, and/or Durin's absences.
- You have either Durin, Nicole, and/or Prune. Having at least two of them in a Varka team can provide decent enough results to clear certain endgame modes, barring Stygian Onslaught at Difficulty 5 and 6.
- You managed to get his Signature Weapon.
- You want to clear Stygian Onslaught Difficulty 5 (at the very least) consistently and as soon as possible. It's better to invest in the more meta teams, especially Lunar DPSes who are currently heavily meta-favored or Mavuika who is still able to bruteforce content with her optimized attack combos.
- You're more interested in other teased characters or reruns.
- You're mostly Free-to-Play and can't see yourself vertically investing in Varka's Signature Weapon or his current best supports.
- You want to save for upcoming meta-changing characters, especially since Snezhaya is about to release.

Varka Genshin ImpactNote! The strongest main stat for Varka's Goblet in his Cryo team should be Cryo DMG Bonus. But the difference between an ATK% or Cryo Goblet will depend on the sub-stat lineup. Choose whichever provides the better stats.

Cryo Resonance is a decent alternative to Double Pyro since the 15% CRIT Rate can work with the Rising Winds set to allow Varka to build more CRIT DMG. However, its buff is reliant on enemies being afflicted with Cryo, making it a weaker option compared to Varka's Double Pyro team.

RosariaRosaria
- Escoffier and Shenhe have many Cryo support alternatives.
- It's best to bring a sustain and a damage buffer when picking 2 Cryo supports.
- Citlali can buff Cryo and Anemo DMG with her Passive's shred and the Scroll set's effect. She can also create a shield to protect Varka.
- Among the 4-Star Cryo characters, Rosaria provides a CRIT Rate buff, while Mika and Diona provide healing as well as their own buffs.
- Mika provides an ATK SPD buff that allows Varka to deal more damage, while Diona can create a shield for resistance to interruption from enemy attacks.
PrunePrune (C2+)VentiVenti
SucroseSucrose
- Venti and Sucrose can work as a replacement for Prune. Sucrose is a weaker option since her EM buffs and modest DMG% buffs don't amount to much in comparison.

When replacing the Cryo characters, any of them aside from Citlali can hold the Scroll set, though the effect will be much weaker. The best alternative Cryo supports are Citlali and either Mika or Rosaria.

Varka Genshin ImpactNote! The strongest main stat for Varka's Goblet in his Hydro team should be Hydro DMG Bonus. But the difference between an ATK% or Hydro Goblet will depend on the sub-stat lineup. Choose whichever provides the better stats.

If you don't have good Pyro or Cryo characters to pair with Varka, a Double Hydro team is a good option, especially with Furina, who both buffs and deals significant damage. Sigewinne is the strongest Hydro healer whose healing applies to the whole team, which helps stack Furina's Fanfare mechanic.

Anemo-Hydro Varka Team Rotation

2Swap to Furina and use her Skill, followed by her Burst. Dash to cancel the animation after her Skill.

FurinaFurinaYelanYelan
XingqiuXingqiu
- Yelan is a decent alternative since she has a DMG% buff on her Burst and contributes some personal damage at the same time.
- Xingqiu provides interruption resistance instead of a DMG% buff but can still be worth considering if you have no other Furina replacement.
SigewinneSigewinneSangonomiya KokomiKokomi
BarbaraBarbara
MonaMona
- When using Furina, a team-wide healer is necessary to maximize her Fanfare stacks for the DMG% buff.
- Sigewinne is a strong option for this role. Kokomi and Barbara are also viable options, but may be less efficient due to their single-target healing, which leads to fewer Fanfare stacks from Furina.
- Mona is an option if your other Hydro character is not Furina, as she can provide her own short-duration DMG% buff. She can also activate the Hexerei effect alongside Varka, which makes the second Anemo slot more flexible.
PrunePruneVentiVentiIfaIfa
JeanJean
Lan YanLan Yan
SucroseSucrose
- Prune should only be replaced if Mona is in the team.
- Venti is the obvious best alternative for the same reasons previously stated in other team substitution options.
- Ifa can be used as the Scroll set holder to buff Anemo and Hydro DMG, but his healing is weak and can't keep up with Furina's HP drain.
- Lan Yan can be used as a shielder and Viridescent Venerer holder.
- Jean's healing can keep up with Furina's HP drain, and her Burst can also cleanse any elemental applications from Varka.
- Sucrose activates Varka's Hexerei passive, but her Elemental Mastery buffs and her small DMG buffs aren't very impactful for Varka overall.

When substituting characters, make sure at least one Hexerei character is used (Prune, Venti or Mona), and if Furina is on the team, bring at least one good healer to offset her HP drain. A shielder in place of a healer would keep the team at low HP; Furina also won't be able to generate Fanfare past a certain team HP total. Use a shielder only if Furina isn't on the team.

Something this site focuses on is that you "need" venti. You can use sucrose for hexerei activation and keep double anemo
