Three new monsters can be found in Oilwell Basin! Rompopolo and Arajakan were featured heavily in the trailer, as well as the area's mysterious apex monster, "The Black Flame".
New Monsters ListNew Location: Oilwell Basin
Oilwell Basin is the third locale of Monster Hunter Wilds. The location seems to be around a volcano with hot lava field and oil-filled swamp-like areas.
New Village: Azuz, the Everforge
A village of smiths that stretches around a giant forge can be found in the Oilwell Basin. The people in Azuz are skilled in bone and ore processing, and oil refining techniques that's been handed down from ancient times.
Release Date is on February 28, 2025
Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on February 28, 2025. This was announced in the recent Playstation State of Play along with the game's fourth trailer. Prices for the different editions have also been revealed.

There are a total of 14 weapon types that will be available in Monster Hunter Wilds. Although they are the same weapons as in previous installments, they will have new moves and features in Wilds!
Switch Between Weapons Mid-Fight
For the first time ever in the series, players will be able to switch to a second weapon type during fights! This can be done while riding the Seikret, which will carry the other weapon.

Suitable for hit-and-run tactics or even guarding, the Great Sword is highly adaptable.
Long Sword Weapon Trailer

With a sharp eye and good timing, you can counter incoming attacks.
Landing certain attacks will raise the level of the Spirit Gauge.
Once the Spirit Gauge turns red, some of your attacks will be strengthened.

Use sidesteps to make small positioning adjustments.Guard against even the most powerful of attacks. Utilize a variety of powerful shell-based attacks.

A multifaceted weapon that can morph between two different modes.
Axe Mode excels at long-reach attacks.
Sword Mode lets you unleash faster attacks.

A mobile weapon you use while controlling a creature known as a Kinsect.
Gain powerful buffs by harvesting extracts from monsters.
Vault into the air to perform jumping attacks at will.
Light Bowgun Weapon Trailer
A mid-range weapon that can fire various ammo types.
Highly mobile and great at quick attacks and dodges.Use Rapid Fire energy to fire in quick succession. Energy regenerates over time and when you successfully land hits.
Heavy Bowgun Weapon Trailer
A long-range weapon that fires ammo from a distance.
On top of the Auto-Guard function, you can also guard incoming attacks manually.
Expend energy in Ignition Mode to fire special ammo. Energy regenerates over time and when you successfully land hits.
Bow Weapon Trailer
A mid-range weapon that uses a variety of arrow-based attacks.
Charge your arrows to increase their damage. The bow also boasts high mobility.
Hitting a monster with a Tracer will cause arrows to home in on it. Tracers will explode after being dealt enough damage or after enough time passes.
New Weapon Features & Moves
Focus Mode
Focus Mode is a new feature available across all weapon types. With Focus Mode, hunters are able to aim their attack or guard. Monster Weak Points and Wounds are also highlighted during it.
Focus Mode GuidePower Clash
With weapons that can guard, hunters can initiate a Power Clash by guarding against certain monster attacks. During the clash, hunters can push a monster back and stagger it, opening it up to a follow-up attack!
Offset Attacks
With some weapon types, if you do a specific attack in time with a monster's attack, an Offset Attack can be done to stagger a monster.

Arkveld | Type: Unknown (Extinct Specie) A monster known among the commission as the White Wraith, described as having unique chain-like appendages extending from its wings. A species long thought to have been extinct, its ecology remains shrouded in mystery. |
Rey Dau | Type: Flying Wyvern "From the look of it... That must be this region's apex predator." A Flying Wyvern that rules the Windward Plains as its apex predator. It has adapted to the lightning that accompanies the Sandtide, with most sightings having occurred during the storm. Its ability to discharge electricity in powerful attacks pose a threat to even the most experienced hunters. |
Uth Duna | Type: Leviathan "This is its territory. And we're intruders...". A Leviathan that rules the Scarlet Forest as its apex predator. It has adapted to water-rich environments and is sighted most often during the Downpour. It makes use of the moisture and its own bodily fluids to create a protective veil around itself. |
The Black Flame | Type: Unknown Known to the people of Azuz as the Black Flame, it reigns as the apex predator of this region. |

Quematrice | Brute wyverns with disproportionately long tails. They spread a flammable substance, then ignite it by dragging their tails along the ground. They can often be seen fighting with other, smaller carnivores over carrion. |
Lala Barina | A Temnoceran that resides in the Scarlet Forest. Its thorax, which can be opened at will, resembles a rose in bloom. |
Balahara | Desert-dwelling leviathans that use their supple serpentine bodies to create quicksand traps for unwary prey. |
Doshaguma | Rigged, territorial fanged beasts that exhibit an aggressive disposition and inhabit a large range. Sometimes observed in large packs. |
Chatacabra | A large species of amphibians that use the adhesive quality of their saliva to affix stone on their forelimbs in order to power up their attacks. |

Locations in Wilds have two versions: An environment where monsters swarm and fight and an environment full of abundant life. The weather also changes to different levels. It seems that the monsters you can find on the field are affected by the environment.

Windward Plains, The First Area To Explore
Windward Plains Area | ||

Windward Plains is the vastly sandy field that the Research Commission will explore first. This area consists of several areas of different environments, such as a desert, grassland, and a rocky terrain. There will be 13 areas here.
Scarlet Forest
The Scarlet Forest is a rich rainforest found upstream of Windward Plains. Since the two are connected, it's likely that the Scarlet Forest could be explored early in the game. It's inhabited monsters, such as Lala Barina and Uth Duna.
Oilwell Basin
A field where oil gushes from the ground. The Oilwell Basin experiences the Firespring Inclemency wherein flames engulf the oil fields. Rompopolo and the other monsters that inhabit it have adapted to its harsh environment.
New Multi-Dimensional Map
The mini map has been changed to a three-dimensional one that automatically rotates. The difference in elevation is easier to see with the new map!

Automatic Travel to Target's Location
The Seikret has a feature that allows hunters to travel automatically to a location that has been marked by them. This will make traversing the field much easier!
New Focus Mode!
Focus Mode is a new feature available for all weapon types, allowing you to aim your attack and guard abilities. By aiming it at a monster's weakness, you can target it and deal a special attack for big damage. Focus Mode also allows you to adjust your distance and aim at the monster.

In Focus Mode, the wounds you created on the monster will be highlighted in red. Successfully attacking wounded parts can activate a special move.
Slinger
The Slinger is a new feature that allows for item collection and environmental triggers from a distance. It can also be used while riding your mount, the Seikret.

It will also traverse automatically to a set location on the map.
