Iron Hammer I is recommended for early game due to its high Attack and Critical Draw skill. The skill can temporarily increase Affinity of up to 50% when activated! The weapon itself can easily be forged as you progress through the early chapters.

It's best to go with the Nihil Hammer by Chapter 3. It has excellent Sharpness and comes with the Focus skill. Its Attack is also good so it can be used against most monsters except those who are strong against Water.

The Doshaguma armor set is great at the early stages of the game due to its skill. The Hammer can do Offset Attacks with Upswing to take advantage of the Doshaguma's Might skill.

Use the Pre-Order Bonus Hope Charm

The Pre-Order Bonus Hope Charm gives the Self-Improvement skill that increases Attack and Defense. It's a good Talisman to use during early game.

For Chapter 3, the Guardian Ebony Odogaron set is great to use. Its 4-part set bonus skill "Burst Enhancement Skill II" will cause Burst to last for another 5 seconds and increase Attack. It's a skill that the Hammer can fully take advantage of.
