How to Chat
- Send Message via Chat Log

There are two ways to chat in Monster Hunter Wilds: Using the 'Chat Log' and sending 'Shoutouts' via Radial Menu. The methods differ depending on whether you're using a controller or a keyboard.
Send Message via Chat Log
Open Chat Log from Menu
Open the menu and select 'Chat Log' from the Communication tab.

Holding the Menu button also opens the chat log. However, if the 'Environment Overview' is displayed, you'll need to wait until it disappears to access it.
Set the Recipient and Send the Message
Set the recipient, enter your message, and then press Enter or X to send.
Shoutouts and Stickers Also via R2
While the chat log is open, press R2 to open the Communication screen. Use this to send Shoutouts or Stickers instead of typed messages.

Customize from Item/Equipment
Open the Item/Equipment screen from the Menu and select 'Customize Radial Menu'.
Radial Menu GuideSelect Palette and Register Shoutouts
Select the palette you want to register, then assign the 'Shoutouts' from the 'Communication' section.
Switch to the Palette You Want to Use
Close the customization screen, switch to the registered palette, and you can choose the Shoutouts.
Speak via Chat Log
Enter to Start Chat Log
If you want to chat using the keyboard, press Enter to start the chat. As with the controller, it can also be started from the menu in the Communication tab.
Key Binding Can Be Changed
If you select 'Direct Chat Mode' in the options, you can enter messages directly using your keyboard. Recommended if you want to use the controller for hunting and the keyboard for sending chats.
Open 'Controls'
Open 'Controls' from the menu screen.
Keyboard Settings → Direct Chat Mode
Open the second page of 'Controls' and select 'Direct Chat Mode' from 'Keyboard Settings'.
Send Shoutouts with Radial Menu
Open Radial Menu With F Key
You can send Shoutouts registered in the Radial Menu using the F key. Customizing the Radial Menu can be done from the Menu 'Item/Equipment' → 'Customize Radial Menu'.

If you use the Short Cut Mode in the keyboard settings, you can open the Radial Menu by pressing any key. Recommended if you want to use the controller for hunting and the keyboard for specific purposes only. In addition, in this mode, you can open the chat log by pressing the Enter key.
How to Send Automatic Shoutout
- Open Communication tab in the Menu
- Select Shoutouts in 'Auto Shoutout' Tab
- Automatically Sent When Conditions Met
You can automatically send chats in Monster Hunter Wilds by setting the Auto Shoutouts from the Communication tab.
Open Communication tab in the Menu
Open the Menu and open Communications.
Select Shoutouts in 'Auto Shoutout' Tab
Open 'Auto Shoutout' and select the Shoutouts you want to send automatically using the d-pad on the controller. Switching them on and off can be done by pressing the L stick.
Automatically Sent When Conditions Met
Shoutouts will be sent automatically when the conditions are met.
How to Open Chat Log
- Open From Menu
- Hold Menu Button
- Press 'Enter' on the Keyboard
- Can open with any key by changing the Settings
There are three ways to open the Monster Hunter Wilds chat log: 'Open from the menu,' 'Hold the menu button,' and 'Press the Enter key on the keyboard.'
Open From Menu
You can open it by opening the menu and selecting 'Chat Log' in the Communication tab.

For controllers, holding the menu button will also open the chat log. If the Environment Overview is displayed, either skip it or wait until it finishes displaying.
Press 'Enter' on the Keyboard
If you are using a keyboard, pressing Enter will launch the chat log.
Open With Any Key
If you set it to 'Direct Chat Mode' in the options, you can enter messages in the chat log directly from any keyboard. This is a recommended setting if you want to use the controller mainly for hunting and the keyboard for specific uses only.
Can You Hide the Chat?
Chat Cannot Be Hidden
The chat messages in Monster Hunter Wilds cannot be hidden. If you want to turn off the chat, you will need to switch to playing solo.
You Can Narrow Down the Display
Press the R stick in the chat log to narrow down the chats that are displayed. You can reduce the number of messages you see by setting it to 'Link Members,' etc.
Block to Hide Specific Players
You can use the block function to hide a specific user's chat. However, only manual messages will be hidden while Shoutouts will be displayed.
Communication → Select Member List
Open 'Communication' from the menu and select 'Member List'.
Select Target and Block From Sub-Menu
Select the person you want to block using the D-pad and select Block from the sub-menu to complete.
