How Weapon Usage Rates Are Tracked

Weapon Used in Quests

Questing to Increase Weapon Count

In Monster Hunter Wilds, weapon usage counts are determined by the weapon equipped at the start of a quest. The weapon equipped at the beginning of the quest is categorized as the primary weapon, and the other weapon counts as the secondary weapon.

This differs from the Main/Secondary weapon labels in the equipment change interface, so be mindful of this distinction when tracking weapon usage.

Changing Weapons During Quests

Even if you switch weapons during the quest, the main and secondary weapon counts do not change. Similarly, even if you return to camp and change your weapon, the newly equipped weapon type will not be counted.

Returns and Defeats Do Not Count

Weapon usage counts are based on quest completions. Returning or losing a quest does not count toward weapon usage.

Arena and Challenge Quests

Arena and Challenge Quest

Weapon usage count includes weapons used in Arena and Challenge Quests. Be cautious if you don't want to track certain weapon types.

Arena Quest Guide & Rewards

If Main/Sub Weapons Are the Same

If the main and secondary weapons are the same, each will count as one use. To focus on a single weapon, set both to the same type.

Usage Counts Cannot Be Reset

You cannot reset your weapon usage counts. If you really need to reset them, you'll have to restart your gameplay from the beginning.
