When farming Nu Udra, it is recommended to use the trap in area 4 to deal high damage while the monster is sleeping. Therefore, prepare a weapon that can quickly put the enemy to sleep in addition to your main weapon.

Paralysis or Sleep Weapon for Palico

WeaponsDetails
Felyne Barina NeedleFelyne Barina Needle- Paralysis may stop movement
Felyne Nerscylla WedgeFelyne Nerscylla Wedge- Sleep may stop movement

We recommend Paralysis and Sleep effects for Palico's weapons. This can create opportunities for you to deal additional damage.

Use Attack up Item Before Starting

Demondrug has a long effect and takes a little longer to use, so be sure to use it at Base Camp beforehand. Might Seed and Demon Powder are less likely to be wasted if you use them right before getting off the Seikret.

Flash Pod Doesn't Work

Flash Pods don't work against Nu Udra, and the only means to stop it from moving are Traps and Stuns, which is extremely troublesome. Due to the limited means of restraining it, there is no way to continue attacking safely, so it is ideal to end the battle quickly using Environmental Features and having high firepower.

For meals, choose meat + fluffy egg that can increase your attack power. Any Finishing Touches are fine, but we recommend Eastern Honey as it has a large recovery amount.

Strategy and Tips for Temp Nu Udra

Farming Strategy

1Start the Quest in Area 4
2Sleep Ammo → Use Trap
3Attacks are Fast, so Don't get greedy
4Pierce the Head and Legs
5Craft Ammo and Traps Frequently
6Destroy Tempered Wounds at Right Time
7Capture Before It Relocates

Start the Quest in Area 4

Set Quest Initial Position to Area 4

Tempered Nu Udra cannot be restrained by Flash Pods and it gives you little time to attack safely, so try to end the battle quickly by making it sleep in area 4 and inflicting heavy damage using the trap. It is not necessary to do this, but it will benefit all three battles when turning it into an investigation quest, so by doing this before turning it into a quest, you can shorten the total time required.

How to Start Quest in Area 4
Walkthrough
1
Recommended equipment and how to get them around Temp Nu Udra

After locating the monster, hit them with a Luring Pod. Then it will become hostile, so move while luring it to area 4. If you get too far, they won't follow you so be careful.
2
Questification

When you arrive at area 4, damage it and turn it into a quest. We have confirmed that if you put the enemy to sleep and use the trap, you won't be able to turn it into a quest, so be sure to turn it into a Quest using a weapon.
3
save survey quest

Return when it becomes a Quest (*you can defeat it if you want). If you save the quest from your history, it will become an investigation quest that starts in area 4.

Sleep Ammo → Use the Trap

▲Be careful not hit the monster with the Hook Slinger

First use Sleep Ammo, then to hit it with the trap, take out your Sleep Ammo Heavy Bowgun, place a Shock Trap in front of the machine and attack. Guard against breath attacks and long-range attacks. If it gets caught by the Shock Trap, use Wyvernheart to deal damage, and as soon as it gets back up, make it sleep → Switch weapons → Place the Pitfall Trap a little further away, then use the Hook Slinger to activate the trap.

You can also make it sleep without the Shock Trap

If it is in a position where the trap hits, you can also use the Sleep Ammo immediately. However, since most of the time they are in a Turf War when you arrive, there are not many opportunities to do so. Also, be careful not to let the monster running away from the Turf War get caught in the Shock Traps.

Set Another Trap After the Other

▲Craft Immediately after Placing Trap

While attacking using a Pitfall Trap, place a Shock Trap at a slightly distant position right when you use up your Water Ammo magazine. By placing it a bit far away, it will be easier to create the next attack opportunity.

Attacks are Fast, so Don't Get Greedy

Nu Udra attacks quickly while it's on fire, so if you get greedy, there is a very high possibility to take damage. Therefore, be aware of any incoming attacks to avoid or guard them.

Pierce the Head and Legs

When shooting at Nu Udra, you can deal damage efficiently by targeting the head which is weak, or the legs where you often find Tempered Wounds and are easy to hit. Since you want to end the battle quickly, it is important to maintain the Critical Distance so as not to reduce damage efficiency.

Craft Ammo and Traps Frequently

Be sure to craft Water Ammo before it's used up, and Traps as soon as you put it down. If you cannot use it when you need to, it can attack you or move to another area.

Destroy Tempered Wounds at Right Time

If you destroy Tempered Wounds when you are not using traps or Paralysis you will have additional opportunities to attack. So be careful not to destroy them all at once.

Capture Before It Relocates

If it moves to a different area after it is weakened, it will cost extra time, so if a skull is displayed on the mini map or Palico tells you that it's weakened you need to capture it quickly. Flash Pods do not work on Nu Udra, so it is best to capture it with Shock Traps.
