Each time you mount, the monster will gain resistance, making it gradually more difficult to mount

  1. If the monster goes berserk, use R2 to embrace.
  2. Create wounds using a knife or a weapon.
  3. Knock it down by attacking the wounds with a weapon.
  4. Do not ride monsters near traps

The trick to riding Monster in Monster Hunter Wilds is to embrace it with R2 or evade the monster when it goes wild. When it is safe, use your weapon or knife to create wounds and knock it down with your weapon.

If the Monster goes berserk, use R2 to Embrace

Fall Down If You Ran Out Of Stamina
Embrace
Hold

When the monster is rampaging, your stamina will be significantly reduced, but you can suppress it by holding down R2. When you ran out of stamina, you will be thrown off from the monster's back, so press R2 immediately when the monster starts to rampage.

You Can Move Through Parts To Dodge

Movement
or

If you move to different parts at a specific timing during the rampage, you can dodge the rampage while maintaining the mount. However, if your movement timing is delayed, the stamina will decrease. So, if you don't want to fail or take the risk, it's safe to stick with R2.

Hurt the Monster with a Knife or Weapon

Weak Knife Attack

-Very low power and chance to inflict wounds
- Possible to do even when enduring.
Strong Knife Attack

- Fairly low power and ability to inflict wounds.
- Compared to weapon, you can attack more frequently.
Weapon Attack

- High power and ability to inflict wounds
- If it hits a wound, it unleashes a finishing attack.

You can inflict wounds while attacking monsters while mounting them Use strong knife attacks normally, but if you are enduring it, weak knife attack is recommended. If you are aiming for a finishing move, use a weapon attack to give a final blow to the monster.

Deal Wounds On Different Parts Of The Monster

Movement
or

Don't attack the monster in one place, move around the monster's body to wound it in multiple parts. You can increase the damage you deal by wounding their whole body, and you can obtain materials by destroying the wound.

Effects and Benefits of Wounds

Finishing Attack
on the wound

If you attack the wounded area with a weapon, a weapon-specific finishing attack will be activated and the monster will be knocked down. This also demount you from the monster, so make sure to inflict wound sufficiently before performing the finishing attack.

Do not Mount Monsters when near Traps

If the monster gets caught in a trap while riding it, the trap will take priority and the player will be thrown off. You will fail mounting, so avoid riding the monster near the traps.
