4▼ Exterminate the Hatchlings

Prepare Antidotes, Cleanser, and Energy Drink

When facing Nerscylla, be sure to bring Antidote for Poison attacks, Cleanser for web-binding attacks, and Energy Drink for dealing with Sleep. It's best to set these items to the Radial Menu to quickly access and use these items. Furthermore, since the field is extremely cold, don't forget to bring hot drinks.

Radial Menu Guide

Sleep and Poison Resistance for Complete Immunity

If you struggle with Nerscylla's status attacks in melee combat, activating Sleep Resistance or Poison Resistance for full immunity is a viable option. With no need for status countermeasures, you can fight more comfortably.

Attack the Head and Torso

Nerscylla's claws and legs are hard to hit, so focus on the head and body. As you create more wounds on its claws and legs during battle, your damage will increase. Target the softer parts to deal more damage.

White Sharpness Prevent Attacks from Being Deflected

Nerscylla's forelegs can be attacked without being deflected by using a weapon with white sharpness, even without Mind's Eye. However, as sharpness decreases, your attacks will stop working once it drops to blue. Monitor your sharpness and sharpen your weapon as needed.

Escape Webbing Quickly with Cleansers or Rapid Inputs

When caught by a web attack, you will suffer significant damage from the scissors attack, so use Cleanser or rapidly move the L stick to break free. Since Restraint → Scissors attacks happen quickly, have a Cleanser ready for escape.

Wait for an Opening

Nerscylla's speed and quick attacks mean you should wait for an opening to strike, rather than risking an attack that leaves you vulnerable. Utilizing Offset attacks will also enhance your attack opportunities once you're accustomed to trapping it and predicting its movements.

Exterminate the Hatchlings

Nerscylla is accompanied by a large number of its Hatchlings and will often attack from the side during battle. When hunting Nerscylla, use Focus Mode to target and eliminate the hatchlings to reduce their numbers. It's also effective to block their vision using Flash Pods or similar items.

Perform Focus Strikes

After the scissor attack, a weak spot is exposed once the pincers close, providing an opportunity to perform a Focus Strike. Aim for this weak spot to knock them down.

Use Slinger Pod from Tempered Wounds

Breaking Nerscylla's Tempered Wounds drop powerful Slinger Piercing Pod. Piercing Pod is especially effective in triggering a stagger, so use it to knock Nerscylla down when it's hanging from the ceiling.

How to Fight Nerscylla

1▼ Evade to the Left or Right
2▼ Keep Your Distance From Web Attacks
3▼ Use Cleanser to Remove Web Restraints
4▼ Evade the Body Slam and Counter
5▼ Use Energy Drink Against Sleep
6▼ Avoid Sneak Attack with Emergency Evade

Evade to the Left or Right

Similar to previous games, it uses threads to swing like a pendulum and execute dash attacks. It can be hard to estimate the reach of these attacks, so it is safest to dodge to the left or right.

Keep Your Distance From Web Attacks

Nerscylla spits threads toward the wall, moves quickly along it, and launches consecutive dash attacks. Maintain distance to avoid getting caught.

Use Cleanser to Remove Web Restraints

Nerscylla fires thread from its abdomen that will bind you upon impact. If you get hit, you'll face a follow-up scissor attack. Use Cleanser or continuously rotate the L stick to quickly break free of the binding. The scissor attack has a poison element and causes a poison status ailment if you're hit, so don't forget to bring Antidotes when hunting this monster.

Evade the Body Slam and Counter

When Nerscylla lifts both legs, it's winding up for a devastating slam that deals significant damage. This move leaves a large opening, so stay composed, evade, and strike when you get the chance.

Use Energy Drink Against Sleep

Nerscylla may launch sleep-inducing attacks from its abdomen. Use an energy drink to recover before getting put to sleep.

Avoid Sneak Attack with Emergency Evade

Nerscylla hides behind its spiderweb to launch a sneak attack. If you find evading difficult, you can use Emergency Evade by pressing the X button. Keep in mind, however, that Emergency Evade can only be used when your weapon is sheathed.
