What to Do When You Can't Rest

In Monster Hunter Wilds, if you're unable to rest, try the following solutions: progress the story to High Rank, clear Chapter 5-2, move to a tent other than Suja or the Grand Hub, complete a quest and return, or accumulate Guild Points.

Advance the Story to Chapter 4-1

Monster Hunter Wilds Rest Lower Ranks Image

In Monster Hunter Wilds, resting becomes available once you clear Chapter 4-1 and enter High Rank. While you're still in Low Rank, not only is resting unavailable, but you also can’t change the time of day in real-time. So, focus on clearing Chapter 4-1 first.

Clear Chapter 5-2

Fix Bad Weather Image

From Chapter 5-1 to 5-2, the weather is fixed to Inclemency and you won't be able to rest using a Tent. If you see the message Cannot use at current mission progression status, it means that story-related restrictions are preventing your Hunter to rest. In that case, continue the story until you clear Chapter 5-2.

Reasons to Rest

In Monster Hunter Wilds, resting allows you to do things like change the environment and time, refresh the monsters on the map, and update item trades.

Change Environment and Time

Rest Change Environment and Time Image

When you rest, you can specify and change the environment and time of day. This is especially useful when you're targeting monsters or endemic life that only appear under specific conditions.

Update Monsters Appearing on Map

The monsters that appear on the map will change over time. Taking a rest will refresh the monster spawns across all maps, so when you're trying to find Tempered monsters or quests with two monsters, take multiple rests to search for a good quest.

Respawn Endemic Life and Special Items

MH Wilds Endemic Life and Special Items Image

Taking a rest will cause Endemic Life, Special Items, and Gathering Points to respawn. However, they will also respawn when you move between maps, so there's no need to spend Guild Points for that. If you're trying to collect Endemic Life or Special Items that only appear under certain conditions or at specific times, resting can be a useful tool.

Festival Shares, which can be used to obtain items materials for upgrading Artian weapons accumulate over time. Specifically, one slot is filled each time the environment in Oilwell Basin changes from Plenty or Fallow to Inclemency. By setting the environment in Oilwell Basin to Inclemency and repeating breaks, you can steadily build up Festival Shares.
