What to Do When You Can't Rest
In Monster Hunter Wilds, if you're unable to rest, try the following solutions: progress the story to High Rank, clear Chapter 5-2, move to a tent other than Suja or the Grand Hub, complete a quest and return, or accumulate Guild Points.
Advance the Story to Chapter 4-1

In Monster Hunter Wilds, resting becomes available once you clear Chapter 4-1 and enter High Rank. While you're still in Low Rank, not only is resting unavailable, but you also can’t change the time of day in real-time. So, focus on clearing Chapter 4-1 first.

From Chapter 5-1 to 5-2, the weather is fixed to Inclemency and you won't be able to rest using a Tent. If you see the message Cannot use at current mission progression status
, it means that story-related restrictions are preventing your Hunter to rest. In that case, continue the story until you clear Chapter 5-2.
Move to Another Tent

You cannot rest at the Tents in Suja or the Grand Hub. If you want to rest, move to a Tent located on another map.

You cannot rest in a tent during a quest. If you have accepted a Quest, take a break after completing the Quest or returning from the quest.
Earn Guild Points

To rest in a tent, you need 500 Guild Points each time. If you don't have enough Guild Points, try earning more from activities like capturing Goldenfish or completing Quests.

Rest From the Tent's Campfire Menu

In Monster Hunter Wilds, you can rest from the Tent's campfire menu. Resting consumes 500 Guild Points, but you can specify and change to the preferred time and environment.
Rest Using the Portable BBQ Grill

You can rest using the Portable BBQ Grill at locations other than the Base Camp. However, similar to resting at the tent, it consumes 500 Guild Points and you'll be moved to the Tent at the Base Camp of the current map.

When you rest, you can specify and change the environment and time of day. This is especially useful when you're targeting monsters or endemic life that only appear under specific conditions.

The monsters that appear on the map will change over time. Taking a rest will refresh the monster spawns across all maps, so when you're trying to find Tempered monsters or quests with two monsters, take multiple rests to search for a good quest.

Taking a rest will cause Endemic Life, Special Items, and Gathering Points to respawn. However, they will also respawn when you move between maps, so there's no need to spend Guild Points for that. The events occurring on each map will change when you take a rest. Events can include outbreaks of Endemic Life, Special Items, or Gathering Items, an increase in Traps, and even Special Items that only appear during specific events.

Material Retrieval automatically collects specified consumable items and crafting materials for you. It stores up to 2 slots' worth per in-game day (up to a maximum of 16 slots), so materials will continue to accumulate even when you take breaks.

The Support Ship, where you can exchange Guild Points for weapons, materials, and other supplies, remains at the camp for 3 in-game days. After 3 days, it will depart, but it will return to the base camp once again after the same time passes. You can refresh the available items by taking repeated breaks.
