The environment in Monster Hunter Wilds changes when passing time, resting at Pop-Up Camps, doing Optional Quests, or with Environmental Links.

Changes Over Time

Changes Over Time

The environment (time of the day and weather) changes over time. You can check the Weather Forecast on the map to check how many minutes remain until the next weather condition. If it's changing soon, waiting it out might be a good option!

Resting at Pop-Up Camps

You can change the time of day and weather conditions by resting at a Pop-Up Camp, which can be set up on the map. While this consumes Guild Points, it allows you to cycle through the desired weather condition.

Starting an Optional Quest

Changes When Starting an Optional Quest

Starting an Optional Quest will automatically change the environment assigned to that quest. If you need a specific environment right away, check if there's an Optional Quest that matches what you're looking for!

Changes Over Time or After a Quest

Note that after starting an Optional Quest, the environment may change as time passes. Additionally, when you return from a quest, the environment will return to what it was before you started.

Share Environment Links Online

You Can Share Environment Link Online

If you are playing online, you can have your members to invite everyone to the Environment Link to switch to their current environment. If you're mainly playing with friends, use this feature to change your environment to theirs.

How to Play Multiplayer (Online)

Returning to Title Page won't Change the Environment

The environment doesn't change even if you return to the title screen, restart the game, or change the time on the game console.

How to Check Environment

Check the Map for Rough Schedule

Check the Map for Environment Overview
Show MapPress
or select from Menu
View Environment Summary
Press
when on the map
Show MapPress M or Select from Menu
View EnvironmentPress G when on the map

You can check the current weather and condition on the top left of the screen when you open the map or in the Environment Overview menu.

Check the Forecast for the Next 60 Minutes

Check the Forecast For the Past 60 Minutes

Open the Environment Overview and press the Q/E button (L1/R1 or LB/RB) to check the Weather Forecast for the next 60 minutes. Not only can you check the time of day and weather conditions, but also monster spawn times and material Outbreaks / Upsurges.

Changes & Differences Per Weather

  1. Some monsters only appears in specific Environments
  2. Some Endemic Life only appears in specific Environments
  3. Increase in gathering points and other features

Monsters in Specific Environments

Some monsters only appear in a certain weather conditions. For example, Rey Dau is a monster that only appears during Sandtide in Windward Plains.

Endemic Life in Specific Environments

Some Endemic Life only appears in certain environments. If you're looking to capture one, be sure to check its spawn conditions beforehand!

Gathering Points & Other Features

features and material outbreak/upsurge

Environmental Features and Gathering Points may increase depending on the environment. Some Environmental Features are also exclusive to specific environments. If you want to check what's currently being increased, open the Environment Overview for more details!
