All Weapon Types List

Table of Contents

Sleep Damage and Effects

First Hit Deals Double Damage

Damage During Sleep is Doubled

Attacks against sleeping monsters deal double damage on the first hit. Make sure to use a high damage attack to maximize damage against sleeping monsters.

Sleep/Wake-up Motion

Monsters have vulnerable moments when falling asleep and waking up. For weapon types with low single-hit damage, capitalize on these sleep entry and wake-up animations by chaining consecutive attacks to maximize damage.

Weapon Attacks Cause Sleep Buildup

Sleep Buildup

When attacking with sleep weapons, there is a chance to accumulate sleep buildup. The monster goes to sleep once it exceeds the 'Sleep Resistance' value. Note that the monster's resistance increases each time it falls asleep, making it progressively harder to induce sleep in longer fights.

Best Skills to Pair with Sleep Element

SkillEffect
Sleep AttackRating: ★★★
Increases the rate of sleep buildup. (Sleep buildup has a maximum limit.)
Critical StatusRating: ★★
Increases abnormal status effects (paralysis, poison, sleep, blast) when landing critical hits.
CoalescenceRating: ・・
Temporarily increases elemental attack power and status effects after recovering from blights or abnormal status.
Charge MasterRating: ・・
Increases element power and status buildup for charged attacks.

The skills listed above work well with sleep. However, since the first hit after inducing sleep is the most important for damage output, focusing too heavily on sleep-related skills can reduce your burst firepower. If you do choose to activate sleep-focused skills, limit them to 'Sleep Attack', and prioritize skills that boost attack power and affinity instead.

How Strong Is the Sleep Element?

Sleep Great Sword Best for Solo

The Great Sword boasts the highest single-hit firepower among all weapons, making it exceptionally well-suited for Sleep Element, where the first hit deals double damage. It also allows you to reliably create opportunities to land the Overhead Slash, so sleep is undoubtedly powerful with the Great Sword.

Paralysis or Blast for Other Weapons

Sleep is inferior to Paralysis as a crowd control method. Additionally, the openings created during a monster's sleep and wake-up animations are comparable to the stagger caused by Blast, which also deals damage. Except for the Great Sword, which greatly benefits from the increased damage on the first hit after Sleep, it is recommended to use Paralysis or Blast weapons for other weapon types.

Paralysis for Multiplayer

In multiplayer, weapon diversity often leads to lower initial burst damage, reducing the effectiveness of Sleep's first-hit damage multiplier. Furthermore, coordination issues may cause players to hesitate in delivering the opening attack during sleep, resulting in decreased overall DPS efficiency. For these reasons, 'Paralysis Weapons' are recommended in random multiplayer sessions.
