How to Upgrade Armor and Unlock Conditions

Unlocked after Arriving at Azuz, Village of Everforge in Chapter 2

Upgrading Armor will be unlocked after arriving at the Everforge Village, Azuz, in Chapter 2-1. After arriving, talk to Smithy to start the tutorial and be able to upgrade your armor.

Armor cannot be Upgraded during Chapter 1

When Smithy is released in Chapters 1-2, you can produce armor, but you are not able to upgrade it. If you want to upgrade your armor, first progress through the story.

How to Upgrade Armor?

Select and Upgrade the Armor you Already Own at Smithy

After selecting Forge/Upgrade Armor in Smithy, move the cursor to the armor you want to upgrade, press ✕ button, and select Upgrade to upgrade it. You can raise the level of your armor by using reinforcement materials, Zenny, and earning reinforcement points.

Armor Sphere is Required for Reinforcement

Armor Sphere is used as a material to upgrade armor. Armor Sphere can be obtained from rewards for clearing quests, the Refined Fire Cauldron in the Azuz Village, and distributed bounties. If you have any leftover materials, we recommend making them through smelting.

Sometimes you need a Large Amount of Zenny (Money)

Zenny is also required when upgrading armor. In particular, to upgrade high-rarity armor to the final stage, a large amount of zenny is consumed. If you want to upgrade high-rarity armor, make sure you have enough money.

What to do When you cannot Upgrade your Armor

Check the Story Progress

If you can't upgrade your armor, first check your story progress. In Chapter 2-1, weapon enhancements will be unlocked when you arrive at Azuz, Everforge Village.

Check if you have enough Armor Sphere and Zenny

If you don't have enough Armor Sphere and Zenny, which are materials for upgrading armor, you will not be able to upgrade your armor. If you cannot upgrade your armor even if you have progressed enough in the story, check the reinforcement materials to see if you have enough.

Check if the Game is at Latest Version

There was an issue where some menus could not be selected in Smithy, but this has been fixed as of March 4th. There is a possibility that the patch has been updated, so close the game and go online to check if the patch has been installed properly.

How to Update on PS5

Select Monster Hunter Wilds on the PS5 home screen. You can check for updates and update by pressing the 'Option Button' and clicking 'Check for Updates'.

How to Update on Steam Version

Select Monster Hunter Wilds from your Steam library. You can update by right-clicking > Properties and selecting Update.
