Wild Stinger Is Accessible as Forgeable Weapon
Wild Stinger is a Heavy Bowgun forgeable from Congalala materials, so there's no need to farm for reinforcement bonuses like with Artian weapons. You can forge it quickly after hunting just a few monsters, making it an easy weapon to start with.
How to Get Wild StingerArtian Weapons Are Also an Option
Preferred Reinforcement Bonus | |
---|---|
Production | Attack Infusion x3 └Paralysis Element x3 or Sleep Element x3 |
Reinforcement | Attack Boost x3 Capacity Boost x2 |
If farming for 'Reinforcement Bonuses' isn't an issue, Artian weapons are also recommended. They allow for more shots with 'Pierce Ammo' compared to forged weapons, making it easier to charge the Ignition Gauge.
Best Build for Heavy BowgunParalysis or Sleep Weapon for Palico
Weapon | Key Feature |
---|---|
![]() | - It helps accumulate Paralysis. └Paralysis is easier to achieve when paired with Paralysis Ammo. |
![]() | - It can immobilize the target with Sleep. |
For Palico weapons, those with Paralysis or Sleep effects are recommended. They can disrupt enemy actions, creating opportunities for attack.
Items and Meals to Prepare
Immobilize Items | |
---|---|
![]() | - Almost a necessity for controlling movement. - Set up the crafting recipe in Radial Menu. - Using it too often will cause the effect to become ineffective. |
![]() | - Needed as a crafting material for Flash Pods. - Ensure it's fully stocked. |
![]() | - Paralysis can be induced with 3 shots at the start, making it a good choice. - Immobilize the target in place to deal more damage. |

![]() | - Attack Up item with a 3 minute duration. - Since it stacks with Demondrug effects, use them together. - Can be easily obtained in bulk through gathering requests. |
![]() | - Attack Up with a 30 minute duration. - If you have the spare resources, use Mega Demondrug. |

![]() | - Grants Attack Up simply by having it in your pouch. - Side mission 'As Gatekeeper' reward. |
Use Attack up Items Before Starting
Demondrug has a long-lasting effect and a slightly longer usage time, so it's recommended to use it at the Base Camp in advance. Use Might Seed and Demon Powder just before leaving Seikret to make sure they aren't wasted.
Make Sure to Have Capture Items Ready
Tempered monsters have a lot of HP, and even when they're weakened, it can take longer than anticipated. Restraint methods also tend to be less effective. To save time, capture them as soon as the weakness indicator appears, before moving to another area.
Meat + Egg is the Best Meal Choice
Ration | Additional Ingredients | Finishing Touches |
---|---|---|
![]() | ![]() | ![]() ![]() |
For the meal, select Meat + Fluffy Egg (Airy Egg) for an attack up boost. For the finishing touches, any choice is fine, but Eastern Honey, which increases recovery, and Jeweled Mullet Roe, which boosts attack while in wet status, are recommended.
Strategy and Tips for Tempered Arkveld Farm
Farming Strategy
Use Paralysis Ammo After Sneak Attack
Once you reach the waypoint, equip the Corrupted Mantle and initiate a 'Sneak Attack'. After the Sneak Attack, quickly apply Paralysis and prioritize shooting 'Wyvernheart' at the chains, aiming for a knockdown through damage accumulation.
Paralysis Applied up to 2 Times
During the effect of 'Corrupted Mantle', Paralysis can be applied up to the second time with just the carried Paralysis Ammo. Be mindful of the second paralysis as a way to create an opening for shooting Wyvernheart.
Mainly Use Wyvernheart for Your Strategy
The basic rotation for this equipment is: 'Shoot Wyvernheart once the Ignition gauge is full' → 'Shoot Pierce Ammo when the gauge runs out' → 'Shoot Wyvernheart again once the gauge fills up.' Focus on aiming at the chains during both Wyvernheart and Pierce Ammo attacks.
Prioritize Wyvernheart While Corrupted Mantle Is Active
While Corrupted Mantle is active, the Ignition Gauge recovers significantly faster, usually enough to reuse Wyvernheart after firing just 5–6 Pierce Ammo shots. Don't hesitate to use Flash Pods or traps during this time; focus your attacks on the chains for maximum effect.
Use Flash Pods to Protect Yourself
It's better to use Flash Pods to interrupt attacks that are especially difficult to avoid. Rather than forcing the monster down during gliding or chained attacks, this gives you more time to stay on the offensive.
Flash Pod Loses Its Effect After 7 to 8 Uses

The Flash Pod gradually loses its effectiveness with continued use, and by the 7th or 8th use, it will no longer have any effect. Be mindful of this timing and pace your usage to avoid wasting them.
Utilize Environmental Features
Using environmental features, like Vine Traps and Falling Pillars in Windward Plains, or Floating Rubble in Ice Cliffs, can help conserve Flash Pods and give you an advantage. Try to begin hunts in areas where such features are readily available.
How to Unlock Field Survey & What to DoDestroy Temp Wounds After Traps & Flash Pods
Breaking Tempered Wounds outside of Paralysis or Trap effects will trigger a knockdown, giving you a window to fire your Wyvernheart. Make sure to avoid breaking them during moments when a knockdown won't occur.
Practice to Be Able to Guard Instantly
How to Do |
---|
+ (*Press both as the enemy attacks) |
Since 'Auto Guard' doesn't trigger immediately after firing or reloading, it's important to stay ready for a manual guard. Mastering guard helps you initiate 'Power Clashes' and significantly lowers the chances of being incapacitated.
Capture Before It Relocates
▲If the mini-map circle turns white, the monster is relocating.
Letting a weakened monster escape can cost you extra time, so when your Palico calls out that it's weakened, try to capture it right away. Stopping it with a 'Flash Pod' or a second paralysis makes it much easier to set a trap and secure a safe capture.
