Perfect Guard - How to Use & Tips

Guard the Monster's Attack at the Right Timing

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Perfect Guard occurs when you time your guard perfectly against a monster's attack. If successful, "Perfect Guard" will appear in the top-right corner of the screen.

Push Button Before the Attack Lands

The key to Perfect Guard is to guard just before the monster's attack hits you. If you execute it too early it will become a normal guard and if you're too late, you'll take the hit. You need to carefully observe the attack and time your guard accordingly.

Perfect Guard - Effects & Follow-up Moves

Increase the Chance of Power Clash

Successfully performing a Perfect Guard increases the likelihood of triggering a Power Clash. Power Clash occurs after successfully guarding a certain number of times. Since Perfect Guard accumulates more charge than a regular guard, it makes triggering Power Clash easier. Winning a Power Clash allows you to deal damage to the enemy while creating a large opening.

Power Clash Guide

Reduced Damage Taken & Stamina Consumption

Perfect Guard reduces both damage taken and stamina consumption compared to a regular guard. When using a Lance, the power of the automatic counterattack following the guard is also increased, so make sure to actively aim for it.

Doesn't Consume Great Sword Sharpness

The Great Sword typically consumes Sharpness when guarding, but performing a Perfect Guard does not consume any Sharpness.

Allows Follow-up Attacks

Unlike a regular guard, successfully performing a Perfect Guard allows you to follow up with various moves depending on the weapon type. Since you can quickly transition from perfect guard to attacking, it's recommended to practice the follow-up moves for your weapon. The training area is a great place to practice.
