If done too rapidly, it becomes a Quick Reel instead.

You can perform a Slow Reel by slowly moving the reel up and down after casting your lure. Watch the speed of the lure, as well as the Hunter's movements carefully to ensure a slow reel is being executed.

Maintain a Steady Pace

When performing a slow real, remember to maintain a steady up and down motion on the joystick. Going too quickly will transition into a Quick Reel, while going too slowly will only register the downwards input, which results in a Jig.

Alternatively, Rotate the Stick

If you're having consistency issues with the up and down motion, try to rotate the joystick instead. Just be aware that performing the slow reel this way can be a bit janky, and doing this too slowly will also result in a Jig.

Effects and Catchable Fish

Some Fish Prefer Slow Reels

▲Started with a Slow Reel into a Jig.

There are some fish that are only attracted to a Slow Reeling method. Even fish that don't bite when you cast your lure are attracted once you begin slow reeling, so keep this in mind.

Combine Reeling Methods to Fish Easier

For Whoppers such as Speartuna, you can make the catch easier by starting with a Slow Reel, then transitioning to a Quick Reel to help position the fish closer to you. This shortens the distance you need to cover while wrestling the fish, so make sure to give it a try!
