Aim For The Head To Stun

The key to using the Hammer in Monster Hunter Wilds is to target the head. As a blunt weapon, repeatedly attacking the head can stun the enemy, temporarily disabling their movements.

Resistance Increases With Repeated Stunning

Monsters build resistance to stunning with each successive hit. As they become harder to stun, the number of stuns you can achieve in a battle depends on how accurately you target the head.

The damage output of the Mighty Charge attack is very high, so make it the focus of your strategy. Use R2 to charge while moving, and once it's charged to Level 3, aim for the Mighty Charge attack. During situations when the enemy is down or vulnerable, use the △ attack to deal damage, then transition into Mighty Charge for maximum effectiveness.

While charging, use the Charged Step to evade. As long as you have stamina, you can use it repeatedly, allowing you to maintain your charge level while dodging attacks.

When Comfortable, Aim For Offset Attacks

How To Do
(You can hold down the button to adjust the timing of the attack)

The Hammer's Wild Swing has an offset attack effect. However, the Wild Swing is executed as the third hit in a series of repeated △ presses, it can be a bit tricky to aim for. Once you're comfortable with the controls and have gained some confidence, try aiming for it.

Hammer Upswing Adjusted In The Final Version

In the Monster Hunter community update, Hammer adjustments were revealed. It seems that the Upswing from continuous △ hits and the Charge Level 2 combo will no longer knock back allies when they are hit. However, be mindful that it can still cause friendly fire, so caution is advised in multiplayer situations.
