Showing Damage is Recommended
For Monster Hunter Wilds, it is recommended to set damage numbers to display. This can help you improve your playstyle, such as by checking if you are attacking the monster's weakspots. Special damage displays for some monsters are also shown, so the numbers can be used to understand the situation better.
Damage Colors Explained
Details of Damage Indicators

White Numbers | Normal/Raw Damage Non-Critical, Non-Weak Spot |
|---|---|
Orange Numbers | Weak Spot Damage |
Arrows in Corners | Wound Damage |
Pink Line Above | Critical Damage - Damage is multiplied by 1.25x (without skills) - Achieved with a positive affinity value |
Blue Line Below | Weakened Damage - Damage is multiplied by 0.75x (without skills) - Achieved with a negative affinity value |
Blue Numbers | Dragonblight - Afflicted with the Dragonblight status effect - Elemental damage is negated |
Blue Shield | Reduced Damage vs. Uth Duna's Water Veil |
Yellow Numbers | Skill Damage - Extra damage from skills like Whiteflame Torrent or Scorcher. |
Gray Numbers | Negated/Nullified Damage - Complete mitigation of damage such as when attacking Arkveld's Chainblades with elemental damage, etc. |
When damage numbers are displayed, you can understand what effects are occurring based on the colors and indicators. If there are ▼ in the four corners of the damage, it's damage against Wounds, if there's a pink line above the number, you landed a critical attack, etc. There is a lot of information that can be gleaned from the number color.
0 Damage is Shown in Gray

In some situations, such as when attacking a part that nullifies Element (e.g., Arkveld's Chainblades) with only Element damage, gray damage numbers may be displayed. There are also other situations that result in 0 damage, and in those cases, 0 damage is also displayed.
