For farming Tempered Uth Duna in Monster Hunter Wilds, the recommended build is the Artian Thunder Heavy Bowgun due to its high Thunder Ammo capacity. It enables consistent and efficient damage with Thunder Ammo, optimizing clear times for rapid farming.

Paralysis or Sleep Build for Palico

WeaponAdvantages
Felyne Barina NeedleFelyne Barina Needle- There's a chance it will stop the target's movement with Paralysis.
Felyne Nerscylla WedgeFelyne Nerscylla Wedge- There's a chance it will incapacitate the target with Sleep.

For your Palico's weapon, those with Paralysis or Sleep effects are recommended. These can inflict status effects that hinder enemy movement, creating openings for attacks.

Items and Meals to Prepare

Ammo Preparation

Required: Since your initial stock won't be sufficient
- Register the crafting recipes in the Radial Menu.
Immobilization

- Bring the maximum amount.
Capture Items and Traps
Pitfall TrapPitfall Trap- Want to prepare traps for capturing.
- If you have a Shock Trap, use one for attacking.

- Easier to gather in bulk through Material Gathering.
DemondrugDemondrug- Attack Up item with a 30 minute duration.
- If you have the resources, use a Mega Demondrug.
Demon PowderDemon PowderAttack Up item with a 3 minute effect duration.
- Since it overlaps with both powders and potions, it further increases firepower.
- An option for further reducing time completion.
PowercharmPowercharm- Attack Up just by carrying it in your pouch.
- Side Mission 'As Gatekeeper' Reward.

Use Attack Up Item Before the Battle Begins

Demondrug has a long-lasting effect but a slightly longer cooldown, so it's best applied in advance at Base Camp. Use Might Seeds and Demon Powder just before descending from Seikret to maximize their duration and avoid unnecessary waste.

Bring a Capture Set if You Can

Tempered monsters have high HP and often take longer to finish off even after they start limping. On top of that, control tools like traps tend to be less effective. To save time, capture the monster immediately when the weakened icon appears, ideally before it moves to another area.

Best Meal is Meat + Egg + Jeweled Mullet Roe

RationAdditional IngredientsFinishing Touches
MeatMeatFluffy EggFluffy EggJeweled Mullet RoeJeweled Mullet Roe

For meals, choose Meat + Fluffy Egg (Airy Egg) for a potential Attack Up boost. For finishing touches, Jeweled Mullet Roe is recommended, as it increases attack when in a 'wet state'.

Tempered Uth Duna Farm Strategy & Tips

Strategy Tips

1Attempt to Strip the Veil
2Strike the Front Legs with Piercing Shots
3Use Flash Pods to Protect Yourself
4Craft Ammo and Flash Pods Before Running Out
5Destroy Tempered Wounds at the Right Timing
6Practice to Quickly Execute Guard
7Capture Before the Monster Relocates

Attempt to Strip the Veil

After initiating combat with a Sneak Attack, quickly focus on removing the veil. The veil causes waves to appear during certain actions, which must be dealt with, so preventing them is key. Aim to attack in a way that engages the membrane, which will cause blue damage indicators to appear.

Water Generated by the Arms Can Be Ignored

The water flow generated when the veil is deployed can be troublesome, as it can stop your movement or knock you over. However, the water flow caused by one arm can be completely ignored if you have Aquatic/Oilsilt Mobility Lv2. On the other hand, the waves generated by the body or tail do have a damaging effect, so it's safest to stop them using Guard or Flash Pods.

Strike the Front Legs with Piercing Shots

▲Successfully piercing both front legs yields excellent damage efficiency.

Tempered Uth Duna has good ammo damage penetration on the front legs, allowing for efficient damage output. Focus on attacking along lines that pass through the front legs and maximize penetration. Tempered Wounds are often located on the legs, creating additional opportunities for attacks.

Use Flash Pods to Protect Yourself

The best timing for throwing a Flash Pod is to prevent the water flow during the veil phase or to avoid being approached. To maximize firepower, it's important to maintain Critical Distance, so using it to halt the monster's movement during close-range attacks is advisable.

Use Flash Pods When the Monster Closes in or Dives

It's a good approach to throw Flash Pods at all of Uth Duna's close-range attacks. However, it's especially effective to use Flash Pods during rapid approaches followed by arm sweeps or tackles, and during dive presses after jumping.

Craft Ammo and Flash Pods Before Running Out

Always craft Thunder Ammo and Flash Pods before using them up completely. If you craft them after they run out, you'll have to switch to different ammo or reset the Flash Pods, which adds unnecessary steps.

Destroy Tempered Wounds at the Right Timing

Tempered Wounds can cause a knockdown when broken outside of Paralysis Effect or Trap. This creates a valuable opening for follow-up attacks, so try to avoid breaking multiple wounds at once.

Practice to Quickly Execute Guard

How to Do
+
(*Press Both as the Attack Lands)

Auto-guard is disabled immediately after firing or reloading, so be prepared to execute a manual guard on reaction. Mastering manual guard enables Power Clashes and significantly reduces the risk of being incapacitated.

Capture Before the Monster Relocates

▲If the mini-map ring turns white, the monster is about to relocate.

If the monster relocates after it's weakened, it can waste valuable time. So when your Palico says 'It's Weak!', it's best to capture it immediately. Use a Flash Pod to stop its movement and safely set a trap for capturing.

How to Unlock and Spawn Conditions

Set to 'Inclemency' and 'Rest' Repeatedly

Uth Duna Map in Scarlet

When searching for Tempered Uth Duna, it's recommended to set the environment to 'Inclemency' and repeat 'Rest'. While it can appear in all weather conditions, the likelihood of its appearance is highest during Inclemency, making it the most efficient method for spawning.
