Bring Deodorant for Stench

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Congalala is known for its attacks involving farting and breath. If hit, you'll become afflicted with the Stench status, which prevents you from using healing items. The Stench status will wear off over time or by evading in a Water area, but using Deodorant will instantly cure it.
Be Cautious of Breath Attacks After Eating Mushrooms
Congalala can change the elemental effect of its attacks by eating different mushrooms, such as gaining a paralysis effect from Parashroom. You can determine the element just before it exhales by observing its breath. Additionally, after eating a 'Black Mushroom', Congalala can use all types of elemental deviations, so be cautious.
Get Ingredients from Downed Congalala Eating Black Mushroom

When Congalala's health gets low, it may eat a Black Mushroom. If you stagger Congalala during the few seconds it's eating, it will drop a Truffle Du Conga ingredient. It's worth aiming for this opportunity.
Target Weak Spot After Farting or Dung Attacks
After some of Congalala's moves, such as farting or dung throwing, its backside glows red, making it vulnerable to Focus Strikes for a stagger. These attack opportunities often arise, so it's recommended to actively target them to gain an advantage in the hunt.
Focus on Moving Around the Sides and Back
Congalala has many attacks aimed at the front, but its fart attacks towards the back do no damage, making it safer to attack from behind. With the added benefit of easier Focus Strikes to its backside, focus on positioning yourself to the sides and rear.
Attack When Eating Mushrooms
When Congalala starts eating mushrooms, it's a great opportunity to attack. Even after being downed and getting back up, it will try to eat mushrooms again, so repeatedly targeting Wounds and dealing damage will allow you to attack uninterrupted for a long time.
How to Fight Congalala
1 | Exaggerated Telegraphs |
---|---|
2 | Diving Press Window |
3 | Dodge the Body Press |
4 | Punish After Triple Swipe |
Exaggerated Telegraphs
Congalala's attacks all have telegraphs that are really easy to identify. It takes a deep breath before releasing its breath attack, strains to fart, and rises before a body press. Learn to identify Congalala's telegraphs and pair your temporary retreats with quick counterattacks.
Diving Press Window
When standing some distance from Congalala, it will attempt to use a diving press. Continue moving in one direction to guarantee avoiding this attack.
Dodge the Body Press
Congalala stands and raises both of its arms high before falling down to perform a body press. Dodging towards either side will cause the attack to miss, so be sure to evade horizontally.
Punish After Triple Swipe
When Congalala stands on its hind legs and raises one of its arms, it is about to commence its triple swipe attack. This attack has no tracking capabilities and Congalala will only move in straight line. After the third swipe, Congalala will temporarily fall over, giving Hunters a chance to land some attacks.
