Starting Field Survey Quest in Field
Monster Hunter Wilds' local Field Survey can be launched in two ways: does a certain amount of damage to monsters on the field, or selects Start Local Field Survey with the monster icon on the map
Deal Enough Damage by Attacking

If you deal a certain amount of damage to a large monster encountered in the field, the Field Survey Quest will start automatically.
Leader Approval Needed for Environment Link
If a Link Member attacks while in an 'Environment Link', a confirmation dialog will appear on the leader's screen. Once the leader approves, the 'Field Survey Quest' will begin.
How to Create a Link PartyStart the Quest from the Map Icon

Select the large monster icon on the map and press 'Start Field Survey Quest' to begin the quest.
Tempered Monsters Appear at High Rank

Tempered Monsters only appear in High Rank fields, so Field Survey Quests for Tempered Monsters can only be triggered in High Rank environments. To unlock Tempered Monsters' Field Survey Quests, progress through the story until High Rank becomes available.
How to Spawn Tempered MonstersHow to Unlock Great Hunts

Map | Conditions |
---|---|
Plains | Continuing Conflict Hunt Tempered Rathian/Quematrice |
Forest | Fur Damaging are Dislikeworthy Hunt Tempered Lala Barina/Tempered Congalala |
Basin | Troublemakers Hunt Tempered Ajarakan/Tempered Gravios |

Clearing the 'Optional Quest' featuring two Tempered Monsters on a specific map unlocks the ability to combine multiple targets into a single 'Field Survey Quest'. While this increases the quest's difficulty, it also enhances reward output, making it a viable option for skilled hunters seeking efficiency and better loot.
Great Hunts GuideWhy Field Survey Quests Won't Appear
1 | Field Survey for This Monster Already Attempted |
---|---|
2 | Monster's Health Greatly Lowered by Attack |
3 | Insufficient Hunter Rank (Varies Depending on the Target Monster) |
4 | Currently Undertaking Another Quest |
In any of the above four situations, you cannot start a field survey or save it as a field survey.
Can Be Identified by Alma's Dialogue

If you attack a monster that does not generate a local field survey, Alma will say, 'We don't have the Guild's authorization to hunt that monster. Let's look for another target.' No matter how hard you attack, no quest will occur, and no reward will be given even if you defeat them, so be careful.

2 | ▼If You Clear It Once, You Can Save It From History |
There are two ways to save Field Survey in Monster Hunter Wilds: 'Save from the monster icon on Map' or 'Save from history after clearing.' Save limit is 50 items, so be sure to digest them each time.
Save From the Monster Icon on the Map

Select the monster icon on Map and press 'Save as Field Survey' to save using Guild Points. The environment at the time, such as the proliferation of Falling Boulder, is saved, so use it when you don't have time or when you have an advantageous environment.
Adjust Start Position with Luring Pod
When saving Field Survey, you can adjust the monster's initial position by using Luring Pod. If you hit a monster with Luring Pod and guide it to the area you want to set as the initial position, attack the monster and start the quest, the initial position of Field Survey in the history will be adjusted.
Save from History After Completing It

Once completed, the Field Survey Quest will be saved in the history and checked at the Quest Counter. From that history, you can also use Guild Points to save it as a Survey Quest.
After Saving, Accept Quest at Counter

You can order saved Field Surveys from Quest Counter. The maximum number of quests you can save is 50, but you can accept up to 3 quests, so try as much as you can. Once you have used up the quest three times, the saved quest will disappear.
Saved Quests Can Be Deleted Anytime

You can delete the saved Field Survey by pressing the △ button. Use this when your Quest reaches its storage limit. Please note that The deleted Quest will also disappear from the 'Local Field Survey history' and you will not be able to accept orders again.

Tempered Monster RewardsSave and Start Whenever You Have Time

Survey Quests can be saved along with the environment at the time, allowing you to play at your preferred time later. Guild Points are consumed when saving, making it convenient for when you’re short on time.
Field and Survey Quest Differences
Local Field Survey Hunts in Current Field

In Monster Hunter Wilds, a Local Field Survey is a quest that lets you hunt specific monsters identified during field exploration or via the map interface. Unlike other quests, the hunt starts seamlessly in the current environment.
Save Becomes Field Survey

When you save active monsters on the map as a 'Field Survey,' you can preserve the specific monsters and current environment exactly as they appeared for the quest. You can also save from the Field Survey History, and each saved Field Survey can be accepted up to 3 times.
Save and Repeat Quests With Good Rewards
If you combine one local field survey and three field surveys, you can accept the same quest up to 4 times in total. We recommend actively saving and farming quests that offer good rewards.
