4Attack the Tongue if it is Exposed
When Enraged, it will Cover its Arms with Ores

When enraged, Chatacabra will cover its arms with ores, and its attack patterns will change. Most attacks using its arms will have follow-ups and increased damage, so it is best to avoid fighting directly in front of it.

Destroy its Arms While Covered with Ores

Destroying its arms while covered in ores will down it, creating a long damage window. Its arms do not have a lot of health when covered in ores, so targeting them is an effective way to maximize damage.

The Tongue Attack has No Knockback

Chatacabra's tongue attack does not have a knockback effect and does not deal much damage. This can be an opportunity to attack the monster, assuming you are okay with taking some damage.

Attack the Tongue if it is Exposed

When Chatacabra begins to crawl and stick its tongue out, use a Focus Strike attack on its tongue. If successful, it will be downed, giving you an opportunity to attack.

How to Fight Chatacabra

1▼ Most attacks can be avoided by moving away slightly
2▼ Dodge Ground Slams by Moving Sideways
3▼ The Ore Slam has Wide Range
4▼ Jump Attacks are telegraphed
5▼ Will lunge at you when it is crawling

Simply Move Away from Most Attacks

Most of Chatacabra's attacks have a short range and can be avoided by moving away slightly. Note that there are some attacks with long reach, such as arm slams.

Dodge Ground Slams By Moving Sideways

When enraged, the first hit of the slam attack has an increased chance of causing stagger, so it is important to avoid getting hit by the first attack. If you are hit by the first attack and are cornered against a wall, there is a high possibility of all three attacks landing. Since the wind-up for this attack is slow, you can aim for an Offset Attack if you are confident.

The Ore Slam Has Wide Range

When enraged, Chatacabra covers its forearms in ore and the number of slam attacks will increase and have a longer reach. Simply moving away will not be enough to dodge these enhances attacks, so make sure to use evades.

Jump Attacks Are Telegraphed

When it begins to shake its body from side to side, it is a telegraph for a jump attack. Simply move to the left or right side to avoid the attack.

Will Lunge At You When It Is Crawling

After retreating, it will crawl on all fours and stick its tongue out, then lunge towards you. If you are far away, simply moving left or right is enough. However, if you are attacked at close range, dodge or guard immediately.
