Hirabami Strategy Tips

1▼ Part or Wound Break to Knock It Down
2▼ Set Traps While It's on the Ground
3▼ Wrestle Out of Icy Restraint
3▼ Ice Deviation Exposes Its Weak Spot

Part or Wound Break to Knock It Down

Hirabami usually hovers, making it hard to hit, but Part Breaks or Wound Destruction can bring it down. Instead of attacking recklessly, focus on the weak points to steadily build up damage and knock it down.

Set Traps While It's on the Ground

Shock Traps and Pitfall Traps do not work while Hirabami is floating. Since Hirabami has a grounded combat phase, set traps during this time.

Wrestle Out of Ice Breath Attack

If you get hit by Hirabami's Ice breath, you'll be frozen in place and vulnerable to follow-up attacks. Wrestle to break free by rapidly moving your L stick before the next attack lands.

Ice Deviation Exposes Its Weak Spot

Hirabami exposes its weak spot, the head, during Ice Deviation, allowing for a Focus Strike. Successfully landing this attack will knock it down to the ground, so take advantage of the opportunity.

How to Fight Hirabami

1▼ Wait for the Right Opportunity
2▼ Attack Wounded Parts
3▼ Avoid Standing In Front of the Tail
4▼ Anticipate the Diving Attack
5▼ Be Wary of the Air Coils

Wait for the Right Opportunity

Hirabami often hovers, making it difficult to land attacks. However, it leaves openings after actions like tail swipes or bites. Instead of forcing an attack, wait for these moments to strike.

Attack Wounded Parts

If you're having trouble against Hirabami's floating, aim for a knockdown by targeting its wounds. When it hits the ground, leave the wounds intact and focus on other body parts to use the existing wounds for another knockdown.

Wounds Guide

Avoid Standing In Front of the Tail

While floating Hirabami can use a variety of different tail attacks. The risk of being hit by one of these attacks increases when standing directly in front of Hirabami, so try to circle around and hit the back side of the tail instead.

Anticipate the Diving Attack

Hirabami has an attack where it dives into the ground in an attempt to strike the Hunter. This attack leaves Hirabami vulnerable for a few seconds, so anticipate this attack, dodge, and then punish Hirabami.

Be Wary of the Air Coils

Watch for when Hirabami begins to perform rapid air coils. This is a telegraph for a large AoE attack, so make sure to back off as soon as you identify this attack.
