4▼ Sever Tentacles to Reduce Range
5▼ Fight in Favorable Areas
▼ Between the First and Second Arms Is Relatively Safe

Utilize Burning Coal in Area 9

In Area 9 of Oilwell Basin, you can deal 300 damage by rolling a fallen coal towards Nu Udra. There are multiple coals on the ground, so there are plenty of opportunities to deal a lot of damage.

Down Nu Udra by Accumulating Damage

With enough damage, you can down Nu Udra for a substantial amount of time. While downed, attack Nu Udra's head or focus on severing tentacles.

Attacks Are Enhanced in Flame-Clad State

Signaled by a roar, Nu Udra ignites the oil on its body and wraps itself in flames. While flame-clad state, Nu Udra will use more aggressive, wide-range attacks using flames, so play defensively when this happens. The enveloping flames will fade as Nu Udra accumulates more damage.

Sever Tentacles to Reduce Range

tentacles

Cutting off Nu Udra's tentacles will reduce its attack range and make it easier to fight. Focus on one tentacle at a time instead of attacking each evenly.

Fight in Favorable Areas

Maneuvering on oil slicks slows you down and makes it difficult to avoid attacks. We recommend using Guided Ammo to lure Nu Udra to a place where there are no oil slicks which are indicated by the dark brown areas on the map.

Between the First and Second Arms Is Relatively Safe

Nu Udra's frontal attacks are relentless and difficult to evade, making it challenging for weapons without Guard or counter options. However, positioning yourself between its first and second arms minimizes the threat, as it primarily uses Spinning Bludgeon, making it easier to handle.

Weak Spot Exposed After Double Body Slam

Nu Udra repeats a double body slam, briefly exposing a weak spot between its first tentacles. Landing a Focus Strike during this window triggers a knockdown, so be ready to capitalize on it.

How to Fight Nu Udra

1▼ Position Laterally
2▼ Tentacle Slam Telegraph
3▼ Raining Fire Attack
4▼ Frontal Breath Opening
5▼ Block the Quick Sweep
6▼ Consecutive Tentacle Strikes

Position Laterally

Nu Udra has a variety of frontal attacks, so focus on fighting it from its sides. As you attack, try to sever its tentacles to decrease the range of its attacks, making the monster much easier to deal with.

Tentacle Slam Telegraph

Nu Udra telegraphs its tentacle slam attack by feinting a retreat coupled with a roar. The attack range is wide, so make sure you're completely out of the way when you recognize its telegraphs.

Raining Fire Attack

If Nu Udra rotates and withdraws its tentacles, it is preparing to use a powerful attack. Nu Udra will violently thrash its tentacles around, causing a rain of burning debris that explodes after landing. The further away you are, the more scattered the debris, so watch your feet while avoiding this attack to reduce the chances of being hit.

There's an Opening After the Attack

This Raining Fire attack consumes the flames that engulf Nu Udra, leaving it momentarily vulnerable to attacks. Make use of this opportunity and use aggressive attacks during this opening.

Attack is Interruptible

Nu Udra's Raining Fire attack is interruptible, which causes the release of less flaming debris. You can use this moment to attack, but remain wary of the exploding debris as you approach.

Frontal Breath Opening

Nu Udra's frontal breath attack provides a great opening for attacks. If you can avoid the attack or if a different Hunter is being targeted, use this opportunity to commit heavy attacks against Nu Udra.

Block the Quick Sweep

It can be difficult to telegraph the quick sweep because Nu Udra only slightly raises its front tentacles. More over, if you are standing in front of Nu Udra, it may be too late to avoid the attack entirely. Instead, we recommend guarding with your weapon if its available.

Consecutive Tentacle Strikes

Nu Udra has a consecutive tentacle strike attack with a long reach. Continuously evade towards the sides of Nu Udra to avoid this attack.
