How to Apply and Destroy Wounds

Keep Attacking the Same Area

Wounds in Monster Hunter Wilds can be applied by continuously attacking the same part or area of the monster. First, aim for the weak spot where damage is likely to penetrate and inflict Wounds.

Wounds Will Not Re-Open

▲ Noticeable black scabs appear over destroyed wounds

For almost all monsters, after destroying a wound with a Focus Strike, there will be no more wounds that appear on that same body part. Instead, you should focus your attacks on the next area that you want to wound. Doshaguma is the only exception, as you can re-open any of its wounds once destroyed.

Mounted Attacks

Mounted attacks are effective at creating Wounds and also Knockdowns, making them worth aiming for whenever possible. Utilize this move when trying to create multiple Wounds.

Continuous Attacks Destroy Wounds

Monster Hunter Wilds' Wounds can also be destroyed by continuously attacking the same part of the monster. First, aim for weak spots where damage can easily pass through and create Wounds.

Avoid While Others are Mounted

If another Hunter is currently mounted, avoid attacking any Wounds. If a wound is destroyed while another player is mounted, then the monster will topple over and throw off the mounted Hunter, which wastes the mount. Instead, wait for the mounted Hunter to finish his mounted attacks before destroying any exposed wounds.

Some Monsters Can Heal Wounds

Some monsters, such as Guardians, can heal their wounds over time or via absorbing energy. When hunting Guardians, it would be beneficial to focus on wound destruction more than usual.
