New Features - What's New & Systems

What are Wounds?

A New System to Create Weaknesses

A New System to Create Weaknesses

Wounds is a new system to create weak points on a monster's body. By repeatedly attacking the same part of the body, wounds are created as temporary weak spots, which hunters can attack to inflict heavy damage. This is different from the Wound system in MH World.

Destroyed Wounds Cannot Be Reopened

Continuously attacking Wounds will trigger Wound Destruction, preventing that area from being wounded again. After a Wound is destroyed, target a different part to create a new wound.

Mounted Attacks Can Inflict Both Wounds and Knockdowns

Mounted attacks are effective at creating Wounds, making them an action worth aiming for whenever possible. Weapon attacks, in particular, are more effective at wounding than knives, so utilize them when trying to create multiple Wounds.

Attacking Wounds

When you make a wound, that area becomes a weak spot and the damage increases. Consistently creating wounds is very important to create opportunities and inflict damage on monsters.

Destroy Wounds to obtain Materials

Wound Reward

By destroying wounds, you can collect extra materials on the spot. Each time you destroy a wound, you will gain materials, allowing you to gather them efficiently while battling monsters.

Wound Destruction is Different from Part Destruction

Wound Destruction is a different system from the 'Part Destruction' seen in previous titles. Wound and part destruction offer a different set of material rewards.

Destroyed Wounds Cannot Be Reopened

Continuously attacking Wounds will trigger Wound Destruction, preventing that area from being wounded again. After a Wound is destroyed, target a different part to create a new wound.

Focus Strike is a powerful attack designed to deal heavy damage to wounds. Activated by pressing the R1 button during Focus Mode, the attack starts with an initial hit and continues with a follow-up strike that deals significant damage. This move can destroy wounds and has the potential to knock down monsters.

Weapon-Specific Benefits from Wound Destruction

Depending on the weapon type, destroying wounds with Focus Strike provides various benefits. For example, with Long Sword, you can 'raise the color stage of your Spirit Gauge for each wound stroyed,' while with Hunting Horn, you can 'store up to 5 melody effects.'

Weapon Types that Easily Inflict Wounds

Wound Infliction is Consistent Across All Weapon Types

Weapon Inflict Wounds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the effectiveness of inflicting Wounds doesn't vary much between weapon types. Additionally, differences in weapon attributes such as cutting, blunt, and ammo types do not affect how easily Wounds can be inflicted.

Weapon Types List

Bow Enables Focused Attacks with Guiding Arrows

The 'Guiding Arrow' used with the Bow has a homing effect that targets the hit area, allowing you to attack any chosen spot from any angle, making it easier to create wounds.
