Tier List

* The order of the weapons under the same tier are not based on which is stronger

The strongest weapons in Monster Hunter Wilds are the Great Sword, Long Sword, Gunlance, Bow, and Heavy Bowgun. These weapons have exceptional damage that exceeds all the other weapon types.

At High Rank, Element Strength Will be Taken Into Consideration

At the early stages, you can clear the story by just upgrading your starting weapon. However, once you get to High Rank, weapon Element and Skills will change weapon performance so the ranking may change.

Weapon Ranking Evaluation Criteria

tier- Weapons that can deal outstanding damage
tier- Weapons that have a high damage and balance
- Great at not only offense but also in providing support
tier- While these weapon has their own unique strength, they have a high threshold for dealing damage.

This ranking should only be used as reference. The most important factor in what weapon you should use is your own preference!

The Great Sword's aim can be adjusted during Focus Mode, making it easier and more stable to hit monsters with the powerful Overhead Slash attack. Additionally, you can create opportunities with Power Clash and Offset Attacks to be able to deal Overhead Slash.

High Damage With Easy to Use Counters

The greatest strength of the Long Sword is its ability to counter enemy attacks through a wide range of counter moves without losing momentum. It takes time to get used to, but once mastered, it's a very strong weapon. Another strength of the weapon is its Spirit Gauge that increase Attack the higher its level is.

Includes Excellent New Attacks & Minor Changes

Many of the new techniques in Wilds for the Long Sword are excellent. The Spirit Helmbreaker, a well-known high damage attack, has a new follow-up, the "Spirit Release Slash".

The Spirit Charge can also be used to easily produce a roundslash to build Spirit Gauge. There are also other excellent new attacks and some welcome changes, such as the ability to cancel Spirit Helmbreaker in the middle of the move, which strengthens it.

One of the Lightest Weapons With the Ability to Stun

The Sword and Shield is one of the most mobile weapons in the game. It has little gaps in when attacking, allowing for a small and agile stance. It can attack with the shield, which builds up Stun when focusing on a monster's head.

Sword and Shield is also the only weapon type that can use items while in the drawn state, so it is recommended to those who are looking for a support-oriented weapon for multiplayer.

Evade Move "Backstep" is Strong

Backstep and Sliding Swipe have long invincibility frames, making them excellent evasion tactics. It takes some time to get used to, but once mastered, will allow you to evade and attack without losing momentum.
