Activate Demon Mode while Attacking

Demon Mode
How to Activate Demon Mode
(Cancels when R2 is pressed again or stamina is depleted while in Demon Mode.)

The key to using Dual Blades in Monster Hunter Wilds is fighting in Demon Mode. While Demon Mode is active, your stamina gradually depletes, but in return, your attack, movement speed, and evasion are boosted, and you gain immunity to knockback.

Fill the Demon Gauge by Attacking While in Demon Mode

Demon Gauge View

When you land attacks on enemies while in Demon Mode, the Demon Gauge fills up. The Demon Gauge is required to use powerful techniques such as Demon Flurry and Demon Dodge.

Fill the Demon Gauge to Enter Archdemon Mode

Demon Gauge

When the Demon Gauge is full, you enter Archdemon Mode. In this state, your attack speed increases, you can perform special attacks, and Demon Dodge can also be used even without activating Demon Mode. However, using the special attacks or demon dodge will consume the Demon Gauge.

Utilizing Stamina Recovery after Demon Mode

Activating Demon Mode will deplete your stamina, so you need to periodically deactivate it to restore stamina. If you're in Archdemon Mode during this time, you can continue using special attacks and demon dodge to fight, even while your stamina is recovering.

It Will be Canceled Once the Demon Gauge is Depleted

When the Demon Gauge is fully depleted, the Archdemon Mode will be canceled. In addition to gradually decreasing over time, the Demon Gauge is consumed when performing Demon Flurry and other special attacks while in Archdemon Mode. Be sure to keep this in mind.

Perfect Evade Gives Buffs

Advantages of Perfect Evade (while at Archdemon Mode)
- Increases Attack Power & Element Damage
- Allows you to repeatedly attack while evading.

Demon Dodge, available in both Demon Mode and Archdemon Mode, activates when a dodge becomes a Perfect Evade when timed with the enemy's attack. If successful, you counterattack during the evasion and also enter a buff state called Demon Dodge state for a limited time. Try aiming it for once you get used to using the dual blades.
