The recommended lure to fish Gajau is a Duster Rig.

Get Lure From Side Mission

Side Mission

Duster Rig can be obtained from the side mission "The Catch of a Lifetime" from NPC Kanya at Base Camp in Scarlet Forest.

Pull the Lure for Fish to Bite

Gajau bites by tilting the L stick up and down the reel.

Catching Gajau Requires Specific Controls

Once Gajau bites, the game begins. The player needs to react according to the fish's movements, and if the player is slow to react, fishing fails.

Tilt the Stick in the Direction of the Fish

After Gajau bites, the player must tilt the L stick in the direction of the Fish's movement until it gets tired and stops moving.. Be careful as the Fish will run away if you fail to react in time.

Fish may move toward obstacles such as rocks, and if the player does not react in time, it will escape. If the fish is about to hit an obstacle, flick the stick in the opposite direction to guide the Fish.

When the Fish jumps, you need to move the stick in the direction it flew and press the R2 button. Be careful as the fish may run away if the player can't react in time. Speartuna may jump multiple times in a row, so focus on the control while fishing.

Start Reeling When the Fish Gets Tired and Stops

up and down quickly

Doing the steps mentioned above will eventually make Gajau tired and stop moving. This is a chance to catch, so keep pulling the reel until it starts moving again. Pull and lure the fish towards the player to catch.

FeatureLarge fish characterized by the long rostra extending from their heads. The rostra are used to catch prey and defend against enemies. Speartuna are a common sight during the Fallow but absent during the Plenty. It is believed that they avoid competing with other large fish over the abundant food. Speartuna show a strong interest in Tuff Joint Bait.
