Check for Speartuna at Fishing Spot in Area 17

Q532 Speartuna Fishing Spot Scarlet Forest

Speartuna may not always be present in its habitat, and you might not find it even after going to the location. In such cases, repeatedly travel between other maps and fishing spots until it appears. Note that Speartuna might not appear immediately after using Fast Travel, so make sure to circle the water's edge in the habitat 2-3 times before switching maps if it hasn't shown up.

Set up the Pop-Up Camp 'Great Lake Shore' in Area 17

Q532 Take Area 17 for Speartuna

You will need to travel between other areas and fishing spots until you find Speartuna. Use the Camping Kit to set up the Pop-Up Camp 'Great Lake Shore' in Area 17, which is the closest to Speartuna's habitat.

How to Get Camping Kit & Use

Cast the Lure and Reel Slowly to Attract Speartuna

Q532 Lure Slowly for Speartuna
Reel Slowly
Slowly Up and Down

When you spot Speartuna, cast the lure. Use Tuff Joint Bait and reel slowly while moving the stick up and down to attract it.

Reel Quickly to Guide It Toward You Before It Bites

Reel Quickly
Move Up and Down Quickly

When Speartuna notices the lure, quickly move the L Stick up and down and use quick reeling to guide it toward you. By guiding it closer, you shorten the time for the tug-of-war after it bites, making it less likely to fail. Once it's close, switch to slow reeling to get it to bite.

Use Timing and Quick Reeling to Catch Speartuna

Once Speartuna bites, the tug-of-war begins. You need to respond to its movements quickly; any delay in your actions will result in failure to catch it. If this happens, you will need to start the search for Speartuna again.

Push the Stick in the Fish’s Direction

How to Do
Tilt to Follow the Fish's Direction

Once the Speartuna is hooked, you need to keep tilting the stick in the direction of the Fish's movement until it tires and stops. If you neglect this maneuver, the Fish may escape, so be careful.

Careful Not to Bump Into Obstacles

How to Do
Tilt
to Move Away from Obstacles

If the Fish moves towards obstacles, quickly push the stick in the opposite direction to guide it away and prevent escape.

Move When Speartune Jumps

How to Do
Tilt
in the Direction it Jumps
Press

When the Fish jumps, you need to tilt the stick in the direction it jumped and press the R2 button. If not done correctly, there is a risk of the fish escaping. Since Speartuna may jump multiple times in succession, stay focused and handle the controls carefully.

Reel in Once the Speartuna Stops Moving

How to Do
Move Quickly Up and Down
When the Movement Stops

Continuing the previous actions will cause the Speartuna to become tired and stop moving. This is the chance to reel in the line. Keep reeling until it starts moving again. The closer you can pull it towards you, the higher the chances of successfully catching it.
