Located in the Base Camp

Monster Hunter Wilds' Training Area can be accessed from Base Camp. You can head to the entrance as shown in the map above.

Talk to Olivia to Unlock

Talk to NPC Olivia for Unlock Conditions

To unlock the Training Area, defeat the Chatacabra in the tutorial and then talk to Olivia at Base Camp. Olivia's location is marked with a red waypoint icon.

What Can You Do at the Training Area?

Calculate Damage Output

Monster Hunter Wilds' Training Area allows you to see your damage output and practice combos. Try out the usability of all 14 weapon types, find your favorite weapon, and practice for hunting. You can change weapons at the camp close to the area as well.

Strongest Weapon Types

Use Settings to Show Damage Output

You can see exactly how much damage you are dealing. The settings for this are at the top "Game Setting", you can turn on the damage display there. Note that you can't change it on the title screen, so you need to change it in-game.

Recommended Settings

Talk to Palico Meownager

Training Settings can be configured from Palico Meownager

Training settings can be configured by talking to Palico Meownager in the training area. Various settings can be made, including your partner's training behavior and attack, so give it a try.

Training Settings List

Hide Quality Settings Can be set to soft / hard
Wound Settings Can be set to normal / ON / OFF
Select Mode Can be set to Standby / Smash / Throw
Smash Pattern Can be set as weak (knocked back)
Orientation Can be set in different directions
Natural Recovery Settings Can be set as Enabled / Disabled

Practice Counters

You can also practice countering attacks by changing the settings so that your training partner attacks you. We recommend Big Bang / Overhead Smash mode as it is the easiest to practice with.

Wedge Beetle and Hook Slinger

A Wedge Beetle is installed in the air in the center of the training area. You can practice hanging on the Wedge Beetle with the Hook Slinger and other weapon actions in the air.

Items Are Not Consumed

Items used in the training area are not consumed. You can also measure damage when using attack-increasing items such as the Demon drug.

How to Leave the Training Area

Return via Exit or Meownager

Exit via NPC

You can return to Base Camp by going to the exit of the training area or by talking to Palico Meownager. Do this if you are returning to the Base Camp

Talk to Alma and Accept Quest

Talk to Receptionist Alma and accept the quest

If you want to finish the training and start a quest, talk to Alma in the training area and accept the quest. The quest will start letting you exit the training area.
