Palico Guide - Settings & Abilities

Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds). Includes information on changing their standby settings, equipment, and things they can do. Palico is great at assisting the Hunters.

Support Actions and How to Unlock

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Palicos have 12 Support Actions—some are available from the start, while others are unlocked by completing side missions.

Vigorwasp Delivery

Vigorwasp Delivery brings a Vigorwasp to the Hunter and restores their health. This skill is triggered when the Hunter’s health is low. Note that the Palico’s movement speed is not very fast, so stay close to your Palico.

Increases Health Recovered When Upgraded

As your Palico's level increases, Support Actions will be upgraded. When upgraded, the amount of health restored increases. Additionally, it is possible to trigger this skill in quick succession.

Purewasp Delivery

Purewasp Delivery brings a Purewasp to the Hunter and cures status ailments. Similar to Vigorwasp Delivery, stay close to your Palico to quickly receive its benefits.

Can be Used Continuously When Upgraded

As your Palico's level increases, Support Actions will be upgraded. When upgraded, a second Purewasp will be available, allowing your Palico to cure status ailments immediately.

Provoke

Provoke draws the monster's attention, causing it to focus its attacks on the Palico.. This can give you time to reposition, recover health, or attack safely.

Upgrade Allows Palico to Counterattack

As your Palico's level increases, Support Actions will be upgraded. When upgraded, the taunt duration increases and allows the Palico to counterattack.

Place Paracorn

Place Paracorns lets your Palico set a Shock Trap to restrain monsters. Additionally, if the monster is weakened, you can choose to capture it.

Upgrade Reduces Cooldown

Once upgraded, Place Paracorn's cooldown will be reduced, allowing for more frequent use.

Let-Er-RRRip

Fires thorny ammo from the Felyne Ballista to attack monsters. The ballista attacks can wound the monster.

Upgrade Increases Duration

As your Palico's level increases, Support Actions will be upgraded. Let-Er-RRRip now lasts longer, making it easier to apply wounds.

Sporenet: Song o' Power

Song o' Power provides the Hunter with an attack buff, increasing the damage dealt. This Support Action is triggered when a monster is downed.

Provides a Stronger Buff

As your Palico's level increases, Support Actions will be upgraded. The amount of attack gained when the buff is active increases. Additionally, the effect duration is extended, allowing you to have better uptime.

Sporenet: Song o' Purrtection

Song o' Purrtection increases the Hunter's defense after they have been incapacitated once during a quest while fighting a monster.

Provides a Stronger Buff

As your Palico's level increases, Support Actions will be upgraded. The amount of defense gained when the buff is active increases. Additionally, the effect duration is extended, allowing you to have better uptime.

Attract Vigorwasps

Attracts Vigorwasp in an area near your Palico, you can move closer and press the ◯ button to trigger the healing effect. Note that this is a healing overtime effect.

Health Recovered Increases When Upgraded

As your Palico's level increases, Support Actions will be upgraded. A Giant Vigorwasp will replace the regular Vigorwasp, restoring more health.

Flashfly Cage

Flashfly Cage sets up a cage containing Flashflies. You can blind the monster by approaching it and pressing the ◯ button to activate them.

Upgrade Reduces Cooldown

Once upgraded, Place Paracorn's cooldown will be reduced, allowing for more frequent use.

Rath-from-Above

While Rath-from-Above is active, your Palico flies through the air with a balloon, providing covering fire for the duration and dealing damage to the targeted enemy. Additionally, it can shoot down a flying monster.

Has a 60 Minute Cooldown

Once used, Rath-from-Above has a lengthy 60-minute cooldown before it can be used again. You can check the cooldown timer by navigating to the Palico Info in the menu. Note that if a quest is completed while this skill is active, the cooldown will not occur.

Longer Duration and Follow-up Attack

As your Palico levels up, Rath-from-Above will be upgraded, increasing its duration. Additionally, there will be a follow-up attack at the end of its duration, which can be seen when the Palico begins to charge up an attack.

Plunderang

Plunderang throws a boomerang at the monster, which has a chance to steal materials if it hits the target. If successful, the material stolen will be displayed on the right side of the screen.

Vigorwasp Revival

Vigorwasp Revival will revive the Hunter when they are incapacitated. It makes it harder to fail a quest by ignoring one faint.

Has a 60 Minute Cooldown

Once used, Vigorwasp Revival has a lengthy 60-minute cooldown before it can be used again. You can check the cooldown timer by navigating to the Palico Info in the menu.

Palico - What It Can Do

Palicos from Monster Hunter Wilds can assist or help the Hunters by using support actions, attack the monster, notify you the best timing for a capture, and placing a large barrel bomb. Palico mainly helps the Hunter for hunting.

Use Support Actions

Palicos can assist hunters with a wide variety of support actions, which can have various effects such as recovering the hunter's health, attacking the monster, or drawing its attention. However, it is not possible to specify which support action will activate.

Attack Monsters

Palicos attack monsters regardless of whether they are large or small. Although it doesn't do as much damage as the Hunter, it uses a variety of attacks such as boomerangs, bombs, etc.

Useful for Inflicting Ailments

Similar to previous titles, your Palico's weapon can inflict status ailments on monsters. This allows them to paralyze or even put monsters to sleep after landing enough attacks.

Notifies Capture Timing

Palicos will inform the Hunter when a large monster becomes weakened and capturing it becomes possible. The Hunter will be notified with subtitles and its voice (Use Set Voice Type) so be careful not to miss it.

Placing a Large Barrel Bomb

When the Hunter places a Large Barrel Bomb while a monster is sleeping, Palico may place an additional Large Barrel Bomb. In this way, you can increase the damage, so take advantage of it.

How to Change Language

Change from Options Menu

Palico's language settings can be changed at any time by opening the options and selecting "Felyne Language" under "Audio".

Deploy and Standby Settings

Change Settings at Camp

Monster Hunter Wilds' Palico Deploy / Standby settings can be changed from "Palico Standby Settings" in the menu within each camp. There are a few disadvantages to having Palico with you, so use it when you want to go completely solo.

No Palico with 3 or More Players

When 3 or more players gather in multiplayer mode, Palico's will be automatically set to standby and will not accompany the Hunter on the quest.
