Palico Guide - Settings & Abilities

Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds (MH Wilds). Includes information on changing their standby settings, equipment, and things they can do. Palico is great at assisting the Hunters.

Palico - What It Can Do

Palico from Monster Hunter Wilds can assist or help the Hunters in attacking the monsters, setting up a shock trap, recovering hunter's health with vigorwasp, notify you the best timing for a capture, and placing a large barrel bomb. Palico mainly helps the Hunter for hunting.

Attack Monsters

Palico attacks monsters regardless of whether they are large or small. Although it doesn't do as much damage as the Hunter, it uses a variety of attacks such as boomerangs, bombs, tanks, etc.

Also useful for Inflicting Ailments

In the previous series, if Palico's weapon were given an ailment effect, it would inflict ailment effects when attacking monsters. If Monster Hunter Wilds has the same feature, they can help by causing paralysis or making the enemy sleep.

Setting a Shock Trap

During a battle with a large monster, Palico can place a Shock Trap to stop the monster's movement. You can't choose where to place it, so lure the monster to where the trap is located to trap it.

Recover Hunter's Health with Vigorwasp

When the Hunter's HP decreases, Palico will use Vigorwasp to recover the Hunter's health. Unlike Endemic Life's Vigorwasp, it can recover your health from a pinch because it immediately recovers HP.

Also Removes Status Ailments

When the Hunter receives status ailments, he may use an item to remove the ailment condition, similar to using a Vigorwasp.

Tells the Hunter the timing for Capture

Palico will tell the Hunter when a large monster becomes weakened and capturing it becomes possible. The Hunter will be notified with subtitles and its voice (human language settings only) so be careful not to miss it.

Placing a Large Barrel Bomb

When the Hunter places a Large Barrel Bomb while a monster is sleeping, Palico may place an additional Large Barrel Bomb. In this way, you can increase the damage, so take advantage of it.

Palico's language settings can be changed at any time by opening the options and selecting "Palico Voice Settings" under "Audio".

Can be Trained by Leveling up and Completing Side Missions

It has been stated that Palico from Monster Hunter Wilds can improve its abilities by leveling up and completing side missions. In previous games, Palico's status increases as you leveled up, and you can unlock Palico tools such as "Vigorwasp" by completing side missions

Palico Guide - Deploy and Standby Settings

Change Settings at Camp

Monster Hunter Wilds' Palico Deploy / Standby settings can be changed from "Palico Standby Settings" in the menu within each camp. There are a few disadvantages to having Palico with you, so use it when you want to go completely solo.

When there are 3 or more Players, there are no Palico

When 3 or more players gather in multiplayer mode, Palico's will be automatically set to standby and will not accompany the Hunter on the quest.

You can change Palico's Equipment in Monster Hunter Wilds from "Change Palico's Equipment" in the menu in each camp.
