The recommended weapon for your Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds is a weapon that can inflict paralysis, sleep, and poison status ailments in both Low Rank and High Rank. Since your Palico's damage isn't reliable on its own, we recommend equipping it with a weapon that can inflict abnormal conditions instead.

Paralysis is Versatile and Easy to Use

If you equip your Palico with a paralysis weapon, it will paralyze monsters and increase your chances of dealing damage to it. It becomes a good general purpose choice for your Palico since it easily compliments whatever weapon the hunter is using.

Sleep Goes Well with Great Sword and Gunlance

The first attack against a sleeping monster is greatly increased, so it is compatible with weapons with big single target hits such as Great Swords and Gunlances. Other weapon types can also inflict as much damage on sleeping monsters by detonating large barrel bombs.

Poison can Deal Continuous Damage

Poison doesn't create attack opportunities like Paralysis or Sleep, but it does deal extra continuous damage or damage over time (DoT). Also, if you are a hunter who already uses Paralysis or Sleep weapons, it is recommended to use Poison to contribute some damage as there is little benefit to your Palico also having the same weapon status ailment.

Best Armor for Your Palico

High Defense Armor

Your Palico in Monster Hunter Wilds would ideally be equipped with the armor that has the highest defense among the armor that can be made. Since a Palico's armor does not have any skills, defense and elemental resistance alone are sufficient to decide which armor to equip.

Make Armor from Leftover Materials

Equipping your Palico with strong armor will increase your Palico's survivability, but it's not as important as your Hunter's armor. It would be a waste to use the materials needed for hunter equipment for Palico armor, so it is okay to just equip your Palico with armor that can be made from leftover, unnecessary materials.
