Gavid Bowfin LocationsPay Attention to Fishing Rod Movement and Speed
The key is to move the joystick up and down, as this will be registered as a 'Jiggle'. Be careful not to enter the up and down inputs too quickly as this could result in a reel that is too early.
If Nothing Bites, Rotate the Joystick
If the Gravid Bowfin refuses to bite or the 'slow-jiggle' is proving fruitless, try . If the fish is proving difficult to catch, you can try this approach.
Use the Emerald Jitterbait Lure

The ideal lure for this fish is the Emerald Jitterbait. The Gravid Bowfin is more likely to bite with this lure so if you are noticing some difficulty catching the fish still, try checking or changing your lure.
Emerald Jitterbait is Obtained from a Side Quest

Be Careful when Fishing at Iceshard Cliffs
The fishing spot in the Iceshard Cliffs Area 1 are populated with fish, apart from the Gravid Bowfin, that are also attracted to the Emerald Jitterbait, which could lead you to reeling in unwanted fish. If the other fishes are too many, you can consider changing your lure Common Wood Minnow instead.
Aim the Lure Slightly in Front of the Gravid Bowfin

Throwing the lure slightly in front of the fish's direction of travel can make it easier for the Gravid Bowfin to bite. It's important to note that getting too close may startle the fish and scare it away, so take some caution when approaching the fish.
Just Want to Catch Something? Try the Capture Net

If you simply want to obtain the Gravid Bowfin, the Capture Net can be aimed and released at the fish for an easy catch. The fish caught through this method is not registered as being actually obtained through the in-game fishing mechanic,

Feature | Fish with head plating to defend against threats. The plating is not part of their biology but rather a collection of scavenged materials. Because of the similar fin shapes, some believe these are actually female Virid Bowfins in their breeding period. However, not enough specimens have been found or studied to shed light on these theories. Gravid Bowfins show a strong interest in Emerald Jitterbait. |
