Refinement Guide: Unlock Conditions

The unlock conditions for refining Monster Hunter Wilds are: Clear Chapter 2-4 for "Armor Sphere Refinement", Clear Chapter 5-1 for "Oricalcite Refinement", and Clear Chapter 4-3 for "Festival Share".

Armor Sphere Refinement: Clear Chapter 2-4

Armor Sphere Refinement will be unlocked by clearing chapters 2-4 of the story. Armor Sphere is a material used to enhance armor. You won't be able to use it when you arrive at Azuz Village, The Everforge, so let's proceed with the story first.

Creating Armor Spheres are Released as the Story Progresses

Not all Armor Spheres can be created as of Chapters 2-4. The number of Armor Spheres that can be created increases as you progress through the story. So if you want to create a High Rank Armor Sphere, advance through the story first.

Oricalcite Refining Chapter 5-1 Cleared

Oricalcite refinement will be unlocked by clearing Chapter 5-1 of the Story. At first, you can only specify Dearisite for smelting, but you can now specify Auto Smelt or Festival Shares to specify Oricalcite, etc.

Festival Shares Chapter 4-3 Cleared

Festival Shares will be unlocked by clearing Chapter 4-3 of the Story. You can obtain items needed to upgrade Artian weapons, in the festival shares. Sharing will accumulate over time and can be received not only from the Smelting Foundry but also from Nata

Each Time you Reach Inclemency, 1 Slot will be Accumulated

Refinement Guide & How to Farm Refinement Points

There are two efficient methods to collect the materials needed for smelting. By Speedrunning Gravios and Tempered Arkveld. Each has its benefits, so choose the one that suits your play style.

Collect Materials by Speedrunning Gravios

By speedrunning Gravios Optional Quest "Armor Like a Mountain" with Artian Water Heavy Bowgun, you can collect monster materials that can be used for refining and raise your HR at the same time. Although it requires a little preparation in advance, you can defeat it in about 1 to 2 minutes, and since it is an Optional Quest, you can do it as many times as you like.

Gather Materials at Tempered Arkveld

Arkveld has the highest refinement value points among all monsters, so it can be refined efficiently. It is also attractive that by defeating Tempered Arkveld, you can obtain rare 8 Artian Parts along with monster materials. If you want to collect parts while collecting smelting materials, you may want to try this method.

When you find the Investigation Quest, run it with Guaranteed Gem, Repeat it

On rare occasions, Arkveld quests may appear where you can get a guaranteed gem. Althought the number of times is limited, you can exchange 1,000 points with one gem, so if you find it in the Environment Overview, save it and go around.

Arkveld Materials are Consumed after Creating an Equipment

High Rank Arkveld materials can be used to create excellent equipment. It is especially used for High Rank's Arkveld Equipment and Guardian Arkveld Equipment, so it is recommended that you gather the necessary equipment before consuming the materials for transmutation.
