What You Can Do in Blacksmith

You can craft and update weapons and armors. You can also upgrade and craft recommended equipments for the hunter and Palico and manage Kinsects.

Weapon Crafting & Upgrading

Weapons can be crafted and upgraded by consuming materials and Zenny. By switching tabs with L1 and R1, you can select from the weapon tree or production list.

Weapon Types List and Balancing Adjustments

Armor Crafting & Upgrading

Armor can be crafted and upgraded by consuming materials and Zenny. Each piece is grouped by set, but you can sort them using filters.

High-Rank Equipment Comes in α and β Variants

High-Rank Equipment is available in α and β types, each differing in armor skills and slot numbers. Their appearance also varies, increasing the chance of unlocking Layered Armor.

Craft & Upgrade from Wishlist

By hovering over a weapon or armor piece and pressing the △ button, you can add it to your wishlist. This feature allows you to filter and display only the equipment added to your wishlist.

Wishlist Shows Required Materials

The wishlist is a useful feature that tracks how many required materials you still need. You can check this from the menu to see what materials are missing while out in the field.

Craft & Upgrade Recommended Equipment

The Recommended Equipment list displays craftable gear based on your progress. New equipment is added as the story progresses, making it a helpful tool for finding optimal gear. The list reflects the weapon type you currently have equipped.

Palico Equipment Crafting

Palico Equipment crafting allows you to create gear for your Palico. Unlike standard gear, it directly consumes monster materials instead of scraps.

Kinsect Management

In Kinsect Management, you can craft and upgrade Kinsects used with the Insect Glaive. Different Kinsects have varying attack types, dust effects, and bonuses, so choose one that complements your equipment.

Conditions for Unlocking Equipment at the Smithy

Armor Unlocks via Story Progression and HR Increase

Aromr Unlocks Through Story Progression and HR Increase

Equipment available for crafting or upgrading at the Smithy unlocks as you progress through the story or increase your HR (Hunter Rank). If the upgrade tree is not visible, continue advancing the story.

Obtain the Required Materials First if There's an Unknown Material

If the name of the next upgrade series is unknown, it will gradually unlock as you obtain the required materials or hunt the relevant monster. Collect materials through monster hunts and field exploration.

Layered Armor Unlocks Along High-Rank Armor

Layered Armor Unlocks Along High-Rank Armor

Layered Armor, which allows you to change only your appearance, becomes available once you craft the corresponding equipment. You can preview it using the □ button, so if appearance is a priority, try out different looks before selecting your equipment.

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Smithy is located within each area's Base Camp. In Windward Plains, it can be found near the Tent, making it easy to locate.

What is the Smithy?

The Smithy in Monster Hunter Wilds is where Hunters can craft and upgrade weapons and armor. Additionally, Kinsect management and Palico Equipment crafting are also available.

You can also Preview Weapons and Armor

At the Smithy, pressing the □ button on the crafting screen allows you to preview selected weapons and armor. Since it can be displayed alongside your current equipment, use this feature when choosing gear based on appearance.
