Distinguish Between Two Different Flash Preparations

If you are hit by Gypceros' Flash, the Hunter will be stunned even if you turn away. Two types of Flash are when it shakes its head three times while standing still, and the other when it jumps and shakes its head twice. The Flash where it shakes its head three times can be interrupted with a Focus Strike in Focus Mode, so aim for this opportunity. When it's jumping and shaking its head, respond with Guard or Evade.

Complete Head Destruction Turns Flash into an AttackBoost Opportunity

When Gypceros' head is destroyed twice, it can no longer use Flash. This significantly lowers the difficulty, so prioritize attacking the head to be destroyed. Even after destroying the head, Gypceros will still do the Flash motion, which becomes an opportunity for you to attack.

Down Gypceros with Heavy Blunt Ammo from the Slinger

When Gypceros' head is destroyed, it will drop "Hard Head Fragments." Picking these up turns them into Heavy Blunt Ammo for the Slinger. Aim for Gypceros' head with the ammo, and if it hits the head, Gypceros will go down, which creates another opportunity to attack.

Bring Antidote for Poison Countermeasures

Gypceros frequently uses Poison-based attacks. Be sure to bring an Antidote to quickly cure the Poison.

Flash Pod and Shock Trap Don’t Work

Flash Pod and Shock Trap don’t work on Gypceros. If you want to stop its movements, bring Pitfall Traps instead.

Identify When It Plays Dead

Gypceros plays dead and then gets up to attack. You can distinguish a play-dead state if Quest Complete doesn't show or its body istwitching. If your HP is fine, don't worry about the rising AttackBoost and focus on landing a powerful AttackBoost. In the play-dead state, you can carve once.

More Attack Opportunities When Fatigued

When Gypceros is fatigued, it becomes more vulnerable to attack opportunities, such as stumbling when it uses Dash Attacks or losing the ability to use Poison-based attacks. Actions like the Poison animation will still provide attack chances, so take advantage of them and launch your attack.

Gypceros Strategy Tips

1Deal with Flash using its weak points Focus, Guard, or Evade
2Evade Poison Deviation by moving to Left and Right
3When running around, Evade by moving Left or Right
4Beware of long-range Tail Attack after Dash Attack
5Beware of the Tail Attack as it has a longer range than it looks
6Pretending to be Dead is a chance to attack or carve
└Be careful of being chased after getting up and leave

Deal with Flash using its weak points Focus, Guard, or Evade

Gypceros will hit the crest of its head 3 or 2 times, releasing a violent Flash. If you get hit, you will be in a Stun state and it is dangerous, but you can deal with it by Interrupt it with Focus Strike, Part Break twice on the head, Guard or Emergency Evade.

Flash can Focus Strike by shaking his head 3 times.

The Flash that Gypceros releases by standing still and shaking his head three times can be canceled with Focus Strike. The flash that Gypceros makes when it bounces and shakes its head 2 times cannot use Focus Strike, so use Evade or Guard to deal with it.

Use the Left joystick to Recover from Stun

When you are hit by a Flash, you will be stunned for 3 seconds, and if you remain in that state, there will be a follow-up attack from Gypceros Tail. If you move L joystick faster while being stunned, you will be able to use Evade in time. so be sure to remember that.

Evade Poison Deviation by moving to Left and Right

Gypceros will fire a Poison Element Deviation toward you. It's easy to Evade if you keep moving left and right even though it fires at you multiple times. so be sure to look carefully and avoid being attacked.

When running around, Evade by moving Left or Right

The action of running around while spewing Poison is also a signature move for Gypceros. Evade left and right more widely than other monsters' Dash Attack. There are patterns in which it runs around three times in a row, and there are also patterns in which the tail appears in a single shot, so keep a distance and chase after them to determine which one to look for.

Beware of long-range Tail Attack after Dash Attack

After the Dash Attack, there is a pattern that leads directly to a Tail Attack, and if you chase it without warning, you are likely to be attacked by its Tail. If you want to chase Gypceros after a Dash Attack, try to avoid being in the line of sight of the tail.

Beware of the Tail Attack as it has a longer reach than it looks

Its characteristically flexible tail is stretched out in a straight line and slammed down on you, making it more dangerous than it looks, as it has a much longer reach when attacking. it will stretch its tail quite long, but the hitbox to the side is narrow, so stay calm and dodge to the side.

Beware of the Tail Rotation at Close Range

In addition to extending the tail, there is also a pattern in which the tail is swung around multiple times in the surrounding area. beware of this pattern when performing close-range attacks at its feet.

Pretending to be Dead is a chance to Attack or Carve

Gypceros may suddenly collapse on the spot and "pretend to be dead". It's easy to tell because he's convulsing and the quest isn't marked as completed. This is your chance to attack or carve, so don't miss it.

Beware of the chase after pretending to be dead

After pretending to be dead, please Beware of follow-up damage while Gypceros is getting up. After you finish doing things like carve or attack, keep your distance and avoid being attacked.

It takes 10 seconds from Falling to Getting up

It takes about 13 seconds from where Gypceros falls due to pretending to bead until he gets up and attacks again. Since you can only carve him when he is lying down, he will not stagger no matter what you do, but you can still take damage, so attack him all at once to deal as much damage as you can.
