Guardian Ebony Odogaron Strategy Tips
Always Be Aware of Your Side Positioning
In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Guardian Ebony is known for its agile movements and fierce attacks, using its front legs and bites to strike directly. To gain an advantage, position yourself at its sides or behind to make attacking easier.
Recover from Dragonblight with Nulberry

The Guardian Ebony attacks can inflict Dragonblight, which nullifies the element of your attacks. Since elemental damage will be reduced, it's a good idea to bring Nulberry to counter it.
Recover from Bleeding with Ration or Crouch
If you suffer from Bleeding due to the Guardian Ebony's attacks, you can recover using a Ration or crouching. Since you'll take additional damage with each evade or attack, be sure to recover as quickly as possible.
Actively Destroy Wounds for Opportunities
Like other Constructs, Guardian Ebony's naturally heals wounds, so there's little benefit to leaving them unattended. You can also expect materials and the possibility of a knockdown from destroying wounds, so make sure to break them effectively.
Two Opportunities to Expose Weak Points
When Guardian Ebony uses its front legs to cause an explosion on the ground, it exposes a weak point. While it's slightly harder to target from the side, it's easier to aim for when it's targeting a Palico or similar. Don't miss the opportunity to land a down.
Other Weak Point Exposure is Tough for Melee
During the Spinning Bludgeon with its tail, there is a moment when the tail exposes a weak point. However, it's very challenging to target with Melee Weapons, so only aim for it with a Focus Strike if you're lucky.
Trigger a Turf War to Deal Damage
If you're struggling with the Guardian Ebony, you can lure nearby large monsters and trigger a Turf War to create an opening for your attacks. While they're fighting, use sneak attack or other methods to assist the battling monster.

Generates Crystals
G. Ebony Odogaron generates crystals whenever it uses energy attacks in areas where the ground has a mottled pattern. These crystals explode when touched by elemental attacks, and they can be triggered by Odogaron's own attacks. Therefore, be especially cautious in areas with mottled ground patterns.
Destroy the Crystals Yourself
Instead of waiting for Odogaron to trigger these crystals, you can prioritize destroying them yourself by shooting them with elemental slinger ammo. This makes the fighting zone safer for the Hunter and also allows for more aggressive play.
Gaps Between Attacks
Although Ebony Odogaron is an agile monster with plenty of attacks, there are significant gaps between each of its attacks. It would be a good strategy to weave your own attacks in between your evades until you create a wound which you can use for a knockdown. You can then use that opportunity to land a heavy attack of your own.
Avoid the Claw Swipes
The left and right swipes often used by Odogaron can be avoided by moving to either of its sides. The damage of these attacks might not be that high, but they fill up the bleeding gauge, so make sure to avoid them when possible.
Check the Tail Swip and Move Accordingly
The jumping tail swipe can easily be avoided by moving to the side. However, this attack can generate explosive crystals when used in areas with a mottled pattern, so watch for the subsequent explosions.
Dragon Lunge
Ebony Odogaron will lunge at the Hunter before causing a Dragon-element explosion at your feet. If you evade the initial lunge by moving sideways, make sure to take a few more steps back to avoid the ensuing explosion.

Tempered Monster with Tempered Wounds

As a Tempered Monster, Guardian Ebony Odogaron will appear with Tempered Wounds
. These wounds can be destroyed just like normal wounds, making them great targets for attacks. Additionally, destroying these wounds will result in dropping Slinger Ammo, which may make this hunt easier.
Utilize Slinger Ammo Drops
The Slinger Ammo that drops from destroying tempered wounds deals a significant amount of damage, so make sure to use them when you can.
Increased Attack Variations
Tempered Monsters can string their attacks together faster than their normal counterparts. Don't just charge in blindly and instead wait for the right opportunities to present your counterattacks.
