Guardian Doshaguma Strategy Tips

1Similar to Regular Doshaguma
2Energy Explosion from Foreleg Slam
3Cancel Defense Down with Adamant Seed
4Actively Target and Destroy Wounds
5Use Element Slinger to Trigger Crystal Explosions
6Weakness Exposed on Foreleg After Energy Explosion

Similar to Regular Doshaguma

The motions of Guardian Doshaguma in Monster Hunter Wilds are similar to the regular variant. However, since it is a Construct, be aware that it doesn't enter a fatigue state (including Exhaust) and is unaffected by Dung Pods.

Energy Explosion from Foreleg Slam

Guardian Doshaguma's foreleg attacks are infused with Wyvern Milk energy, causing small explosions on the ground when hit by attacks like Hammer's Big Bang or Hunting Horn, Gunlance, and Insect Glaive's Overhead Smash. To reduce damage, maintain a slightly greater distance from its foreleg attacks compared to the regular variant.

Crystal Generation in Spotted Ground Areas

In areas where Wyvern Milk is leaking, the ground becomes spotted, and energy explosions in these spotted areas will result in crystal generation.

Cancel Defense Down with Adamant Seed

Guardian Doshaguma's saliva causes Defense Down if touched. You can counter this with Defense Up items like Adamant Seed, so be sure to bring them.

Actively Target and Destroy Wounds

Guardian Doshaguma has a tendency to recover Wounds after a certain period, so it's recommended to actively destroy them. Destroying Wounds multiple times will cause the energy to dissipate, allowing you to trigger a long stagger.

Attack Opportunity During Absorption Phase

After dissipating the energy, Guardian Doshaguma absorbs energy in areas with spotted ground patterns. During this time, it is completely defenseless, so make sure to attack aggressively.

Use Element Slinger to Trigger Crystal Explosions

Like other Dragon-type species, the crystals generated by Guardian Doshaguma react to Elemental attacks and trigger explosions. However, since Guardian Doshaguma doesn't have any Elemental attacks of its own, all the generated crystals can be used by the Hunter, so make sure to take advantage of them to gain the upper hand in battle. Use slinger with any elemental pod.

Weakness Exposed on Foreleg After Energy Explosion

After the foreleg glows white, a weak spot is exposed for a brief moment. By landing a Focus Strike, you can trigger a stagger. This is a prime attack opportunity, so make sure to aim for it.

How to Fight Guardian Doshaguma

1Forearm Smash
23 Consecutive Lunges
3Anticipate the Launching Follow-Up
4Differentiate Between Feints and Charges
5Avoid the Ground Smash's Impact Point
6Can Counter Focus Strikes

Forearm Smash

Guardian Doshaguma's forearm smash can often be avoided by evading towards the sides or rear. Note that in areas with Wyvern's Milk, these attacks may generate crystals, so keep an eye on where these attacks are landing.

3 Consecutive Lunges

G. Doshaguma can use an attack that involves 3 consecutive lunging attacks. Each lunge extends farther forward than it looks, so it is best to dodge to either side instead of backwards where the attack might reach you.

Anticipate the Launching Follow-Up

Guardian Doshaguma starts this attack string with a light swipe that deals damage but does not flinch the Hunter. Then, it prepares a launching attack with an energy explosion using its other arm. If you can telegraph this move, quickly move to the side and aim to use a Focus Strike. Note that the Guardian Doshaguma may also use the light swip without the launching follow-up, but the move will be executed slowly.

Differentiate Between Feints and Charges

A normal charge starts when the Guardian Doshaguma pulls back slightly before dragging its shoulder across the ground. A feint will telegraph a forearm smash, but transition into a different move entirely. Learn to identify each so that you can react appropriately.

Avoid the Ground Smash's Impact Point

The Guardian Doshaguma will stand on its hind legs with both arms glowing before smashing them into the ground to cause an eruption of energy. While the arms have a narrow range, the following explosion does not. So try to estimate the attack's total range and avoid it by retreating or getting behind the Guardian Doshaguma.

Can Counter Focus Strikes

Guardian Doshaguma is capable of countering Focus Strikes. Unlike other monsters who are knocked down after a successful Focus Strike, a Guardian Doshaguma will immediately attempt to tackle the Hunter after flinching from this attack. Get into the habit of dodging after a Focus Strike whenever you're facing off against a Guardian Doshaguma.

Tempered Moves and Behavior

└Tempered Wounds Drop Slinger Ammo
2Faster Attacks
3Feint Follow-Ups

Tempered Monster with Tempered Wounds

スリンガー

As a Tempered Monster, Guardian Doshaguma will appear with Tempered Wounds. These wounds can be destroyed just like normal wounds, making them great targets for attacks. Additionally, destroying these wounds will result in dropping Slinger Ammo, which may make this hunt easier.

Faster Attacks

As a Tempered Monster, the Guardian Doshaguma executes its attacks at a much faster pace when compared to the regular High-Rank variant. When trying to perform actions that require precise timings, such as Perfect Guards and Perfect Evades, you may need to re-adjust your timings if you have grown accustomed to fighting the regular High-Rank Doshaguma.

Feint Follow-Ups

The Tempered Guardian Doshaguma can perform Feint attacks just like its High-Rank counterpart, but be aware of the fact that it might include a follow-up attack once it finishes its feint attack.
