Monster Hunter Wilds features two distinct seasons, separated by an Inclemency event that alters the behavior of monsters and changes the appearance of the local fauna and flora. The first season, Fallow, is a period of scarcity where monsters constantly fight for survival. This is followed by Inclemency, a weather event that brings harsh thunderstorms and heavy rain. Finally, the season of Plenty arrives, a period of life and abundance marked by good weather and herbivorous monsters grazing on the flourishing local flora.

Features of Each Detailed Map

Map Name	Characteristics
Windward Plains	Windward Plains is a vast sandy expanse that the research team will initially investigate upon arriving in the new land. The field consists of various areas with unique characteristics, such as deserts, grasslands, and rocky landscapes. There are 17 distinct regions within this locale.
Scarlet Forest	Scarlet Forest, a water-rich woodland, is reached by traveling upstream from the river flowing through Windward Plains. As it is adjacent to Windward Plains, it's possible to visit the Scarlet Forest from the beginning of the game. This forest is inhabited by large monsters, including Lala Barina and Uth Duna.
Oilwell Basin	Oilwell Basin, as its name suggests, is a field where oil seeps from the ground and accumulates with changing weather. The area experiences an abnormal event called Firespring, where fierce flares blaze. Large monsters like Rompopolo and Nu Udra can be found here.
iceshard Cliffs	A cold field with a heavy snowstorm.
Wounded Hollow	The field that serves as the arena for this game. It can be visited even outside of the quest, and it is also possible to defeat the monsters wandering around the arena

Main Characters

Name	Description
Hunter	The protagonist and the character you play as. A hunter assigned to the Forbidden Lands Research Commission, their job is to help investigate this unexplored region.
Palico	A Felyne, a cat-like creature, fully capable of speaking with people—who is the hunter's trusted "Palico" partner. They'll provide invaluable hunting AND moral support.

Alma	The Hunter's "Handler"—one who manages monster hunt requests, permissions, and quests. She'll accompany you out on quests and provide valuable support and knowledge.
Gemma	A smithy with the Research Commission. She'll take care of all your weapon and armor crafting needs!

Nata	A mysterious young boy that accompanies you on your journey.
Olivia	A hammer-wielding member of the Hunter's Guild Forbidden Lands Expedition Team. She previously took on special missions from the Guild, but has since been assigned to the Forbidden Lands. She can assist the Hunter as a Support Hunter during quests.
Athos	An elite Long-Haired Palico assisting Olivia.
Erik	Astrum Unit's Handler. An adroit biologist renowned throughout academia.

Fabius	As a leader of the Hunter's Guild, he established the Forbidden Lands Research Commission after discovering Nata, and took charge of forming each expedition unit. A former hunter distinguished among the guild

Introduction of the Seikret Mount

The Seikret isn't just your trusty mount for traversing areas, it also lends invaluable support during hunts, making it your ultimate hunting companion.

New Feature: Focus Mode for Aiming

Focus Mode is a new feature available for all weapon types, and allows you to accurately aim your attack and guard abilities. By targeting a monster's weak spot, you can deliver a powerful special attack. Additionally, Focus Mode lets you adjust your distance and aim at the monster.

New Feature: Wounds that can Create Weak Points

Wounds is a new system that creates weaknesses in monster's bodies. By repeatedly attacking the same area, a wound will be created and it will temporarily become a weak spot, allowing you to deal large amounts of damage. It is different from the wounding system that was used in the previous game "Monster Hunter World".

New Feature Slinger: Hook Slinger

Hook Slinger is a new feature that allows you to collet items and activate field Environmental Features from a distance. It can also be used when riding mount, Seikret.
