Best Teams For Yelan
Popular Teams For Yelan
Team | Rating Description |
---|---|
▼Freeze Yelan | ★★★★★ - One of Yelan's most meta teams alongside Skirk. - Both she and Furina help each other generate Energy and also enable Hydro Resonance for more HP and thus more damage from either. |
▼Lunar-Charged Yelan | ★★★★・ - Yelan helps to trigger Lunar-Charged for key units like Ineffa and Flins. - Currently a team that has limited alternate teammate options due to being tied to a recently released reaction. |
▼Hyperbloom Yelan | ★★★★・ - Makes use of Yelan's Hydro application to generate Dendro cores to trigger Hyperbloom from. - Overall strong baseline single-target damage but may struggle into heavy AoE content. |
▼Bloom Yelan | ★★★・・ - Yelan can be played in a Bloom comp alongside Nilou to increase the team's single-target DPS. - Though she isn't the best option for this team, Yelan is still a suitable Hydro applicator. |
▼Vaporize Yelan | ★★★・・ - Yelan is an ideal Hydro support for On-Field Pyro DPSes that use a lot of Normal Attacks. - Best paired with another Hydro unit like Xingqiu to activate Hydro Resonance. |
▼Electro-Charged Yelan | ★★★・・ - Yelan can be a suitable Hydro support who can contribute a bit of her own personal damage for an Electro-charged team. - Slightly lower in ranking than Lunar-Charged due to specialized Lunar-Charged units like Ineffa and Flins having higher DPS potential from their abilities alone. |
▼Overload with Vaporize (Overvape) Yelan | ★★・・・ - A comp that combines several different reactions like Overload, Vaporize and even a bit of Electro-charged. |
▼Mono-Hydro Yelan | ★★・・・ - Strong option into content that is weak to Hydro. - Requires Furina to be marginally competitive. |

Yelan is among the best fourth teammate option for a Freeze team consisting of Skirk, Escoffier and Furina. Her and Furina mutually benefit off of each other's presence on the team via increased Hydro Energy Particle generation and the activation of the Hydro Resonance, which buffs both of their personal damage outputs.
Rotation Of Freeze Yelan Team
No. | Procedure |
---|---|
1 | Start with Furina's Skill into Burst. |
2 | Swap to Escoffier then use Skill followed by Burst. |
3 | Use Yelan's Skill, into Burst, then use one Normal Attack to apply more Hydro. |
4 | Switch to Skirk. Use her Elemental Skill (Tap), then press her Elemental Burst. Do Normal Attack (x5) into a dash cancel until her special state ends. Use a Charged Attack in between to absorb Void Rifts to prolong her special state. |
5 | Repeat from step 1 |
This team's rotation follows the familiar support first then On-Field DPS last scheme. Use the abilities of the supports with the longest durations first so the On-Field DPS can fully maximize the ability with the shortest duration by the time you swap into them.

![]() | ![]() ![]() | - A Cryo On-Field DPS who uses Normal Attacks in their combo can be good alternatives for Skirk when paired with Yelan. |
![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | - Escoffier offers the most buffs for Skirk, largely due to the Cryo RES shred. Replacing her leads to lower overall damage potential from Skirk. - Shenhe and Citlali can slightly compensate the lack of Escoffier through the buffs they provide, either through their abilities or their equipment (Citlali with the Cinder City) set. - Mika, especially at C6, can increase Skirk's Normal Attack speed, which leads to a decent boost in DPS, but still better paired alongside Escoffier. He can also help stack Furina's Fanfare thanks to his healing. - Charlotte functions purely as a healer and, like Mika, can generate Fanfare stacks for Furina's DMG% buff. |
![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | - Ideally Yelan will want to be paired with another Hydro teammate so she can have an easier time charging her Burst. - If Energy is not a problem for your Yelan, you can opt to slot in another Cryo buffer like Shenhe or Citlali instead. - A Freeze team with neither Escoffier nor Skirk can use Kazuha to provide Elemental RES shred and Elemental DMG% buffs. |
Keep in mind that Escoffier's Cryo RES shred and Skirk's 'Return to Oblivion' passive are at its best when the entire team is composed of only Cryo and Hydro teammates, thereby restricting your character options if you have either of them in this team. Choosing teammates based on these restrictions ensures that you aren't accidentally gimping your damage by fielding any other character that doesn't match either of their criteria.
Of course, if neither Skirk nor Escoffier are present, this shouldn't pose an issue. Although Freeze teams without Escoffier may struggle to clear certain endgame content.

This is the best Lunar-Charged team in terms of DPS potential and overall ability synergy. Flins' combos are likely to consist of Normal Attacks, which allows him to make full use of Yelan's Hydro application via her Elemental Burst. Ineffa and Sucrose are strong sources of Elemental Mastery to further increase the damage dealt by Flins, Ineffa herself and Lunar-Charged.
The biggest downside of this team is that Ineffa is the sole sustain unit, making other options less comfortable in practice.
Rotation Of Lunar-Charged Yelan Team
No. | Procedure |
---|---|
1 | Start with Ineffa's Elemental Burst, then her Skill. |
2 | Use Yelan's Skill into Burst. |
3 | Use Sucrose's Skill. Burst is optional. |
4 | Swap to Flins to do his basic damage combo. |
5 | Repeat from step 1 |
Flins has a special mechanic wherein he has an Elemental Burst that costs less Energy (and it has no closeup animation as a result), which is a mechanic he shares with Varesa. Because of this, their rotations and combos are likely to be very similar.
The general rotation of this team should be to deploy all of the support abilities first (from longest duration to shortest duration), then swap into the On-Field DPS to deal the most damage. Flins will take most of the field time, and is likely to be using his Elemental Skill enough times to fuel his discounted Burst (or mini-burst) several times until his support abilities expire.

![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | - If you have Ineffa, but no Flins, you can pair her and Yelan with Normal Attack On-Field characters who can reliably help trigger Lunar-Charged, like Keqing and Ifa. - With no Flins, your only option to activate Lunar-Charged is Ineffa herself. You can pair her with any of her substitute characters stated below. - Having neither Ineffa nor Flins results in the loss of Lunar-Charged since they're the only characters that can enable the conversion of Electro-Charged to Lunar-Charged. └ Jump to Electro-Charged Team | |
![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() | - Flins requires another Electro teammate to be able to use his smaller Bursts regularly within a rotation. Ororon and Fischl can help alleviate his Energy requirements. - Shinobu is a more forgiving option since she's the only other Electro sustain character available, which allows you to run Sucrose in the last slot instead. - You can use these substitutes alongside Ineffa in a Flin-less Lunar-Charged team. | |
![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | - Sucrose is Flins' premiere support option since she provides so much Elemental Mastery for both him and Ineffa. Replacing her leads to a decrease in total DPS, but it may be required if you do not have Ineffa, want to run a sustain character, and want to have Flins' damage be somewhat competitive. - Any of the above options can make decent alternatives for Sucrose if you have them. - Kazuha is not optimal for Flins, but can be used for an Ineffa-only Lunar-Charged team alongside a Normal Attack On-Field character. |
Yelan is among the better Hydro options for Flins' best premium Lunar-Charged provided you have Ineffa. This is so that you still have the Ascendant Gleam Moonsign level (2 Nod-Krai characters) needed to trigger Flins' Symphony of Winter passive, which increases Lunar-Charged damage. His DPS without this passive active can be underwhelming otherwise.
If you do not have Ineffa, it may be best to consider using Aino instead of Yelan as the Hydro support in order to maintain the Ascendant Gleam Moonsign. Read more in-depth info about Flins' team options in this article. If you want to learn about Ineffa's teams instead, check here.

Yelan and Xingqiu are an established pair that applies consistent Hydro to an enemy while contributing a decent chunk of single-target damage. This single-target DPS potential can be further enhanced by the addition of Hyperbloom, which is a homing Dendro-damage reaction created by applying Electro to Dendro Cores (Dendro plus Hydro).
Rotation Of Hyperbloom Yelan Team
No. | Procedure |
---|---|
1 | Start with Nahida. Use Burst into Skill. |
2 | Swap into Xingqiu, then use his Skill into Burst. |
3 | Use Yelan's Skill, followed by her Burst. |
4 | Switch to Shinobu, then use her Skill. Burst is optional. |
5 | Swap back into Nahida, then use Normal Attacks to apply Dendro and to constantly trigger both Xingqiu and Yelan's Bursts to apply Hydro at the same time, which creates Dendro cores. |
6 | Repeat from step 1 |
Nahida acts as the On-Field character that uses her Normal Attacks to quickly generate Dendro cores. Because of her lack of a shield or interruption resistance on this team, it may be hard to pilot at first since Nahida is likely to get knocked around or interrupted. Though the team at its core is very simple, it can require slightly more skill than teams with a shielder, since you'd need to accurately time your dodges.
Substitute Characters
Character | Sub | Details |
---|---|---|
![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | - The On-Field character is ideally a character that can use Normal Attacks to reliably apply Hydro using Yelan's Elemental Burst. - When fielding Clorinde, Alhaitham, or Cyno, you can opt to run Yelan as the solo Hydro instead to make a Hyperbloom team with decent Aggravate or Spread uptime ("Quickbloom"). - For Lauma, you want to keep her the only Nod-Krai character in the party so her "Light for the Frosty Night" passive allows the Hyperblooms to crit instead. |
![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | - If Xingqiu is unavailable for a Hyperbloom team with Yelan, rather than replacing Xingqiu with another Hydro character you can instead slot in another Dendro character to create a "Hyperbloom and Quicken" (Quickbloom) team. - This means you are triggering the Quicken reaction (Dendro plus Electro or vice versa) on an enemy and, because you don't have too much Hydro application and have more Dendro application, you're able to maintain the Quicken aura to let a Dendro or Electro DPS still trigger Aggravate or Spread. - You still get a decent amount of Hyperblooms on top of that, which leads to a sizeable total DPS overall. |
![]() | ![]() Shogun ![]() ![]() | - The Electro trigger is the most important part of a Hyperbloom team, since its their Elemental Mastery (EM) that's taken into account for the Hyperbloom damage. - Raiden Shogun is built with EM as a Hyperbloom trigger and will only ever use her Elemental Skill in rotations. Using Raiden as the trigger means you won't have a sustain character on the team, so it may be more challenging to play. - Ineffa converts Electro-Charged into Lunar-Charged, which can be a nice bonus to have in teams like this. Her shield will act as the main sustain of the party. - Ineffa can be the better choice over Kuki provided she is paired with Yelan AND Xingqiu so she has enough Hydro to trigger Lunar-Charged reliably. |
The core of a Hyperbloom team consists of a Dendro and Hydro character to create Dendro cores, and then an Electro character to apply Electro on the cores to trigger the reaction. In Yelan's case, you also want to use an On-Field character that can freely use Normal Attacks. She's also best paired with Xingqiu in some setups for more Dendro core generation and better single-target damage.

Although Yelan's DMG% buff from her Elemental Burst doesn't affect Bloom or Lunar-Bloom damage, she can still be used as a Hydro applicator in a Nilou Bloom team with or without Lauma (though Lauma teams will obviously deal more damage). Yelan is a good source of single-target damage in a comp that's otherwise entirely AoE-oriented.
Rotation Of Bloom Yelan Team
No. | Procedure |
---|---|
1 | Start with Lauma's Elemental Skill (Hold). If this is the very first rotation, use the Tap version instead. |
2 | Swap to Nilou then use Skill (x3). |
3 | Use Baizhu's Elemental Skill into Burst. |
4 | Switch to Yelan then do an Elemental Skill (Tap or Hold) then use her Elemental Burst. You can use Normal Attack (x1) to quickly apply even more Hydro. |
5 | Swap to Lauma. Use her Elemental Burst into an Elemental Skill (Hold). You can wave in a Normal Attack in between each action. After using her Skill, you will be On-Fielding Lauma who'll drive the Bloom reactions with her Normal Attacks. |
6 | (Optional) While Yelan's Burst and Nilou's Skill are still up, you can quickly use Baizhu's Skill, then swap to Lauma and do more Normal Attacks. |
7 | Repeat from Step 1. |
This Bloom team variation uses Lauma as the On-Field Driver who'll utilize her Normal Attacks to enable Yelan's Elemental Burst to apply Hydro and thus create more Lunar-Blooms. The single-target DPS potential of this team is fairly decent, but due to the Hydro application having less AoE, it may have a bit of trouble into multi-target content.
Substitute Characters
Character | Sub | Details |
---|---|---|
![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() | - Replacing Lauma disables the conversion of Bloom into Lunar-Bloom. - Any Dendro character that can apply the element rapidly and with ease can be considered substitutes for Lauma, albeit with the downside of you losing out on her high Lunar-Bloom damage from her Elemental Skill (Hold). - These characters will act as the On-Field driver who will be using their Normal Attacks to trigger the Bloom reactions alongside Yelan's Hydro application. |
![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() | - Baizhu can be replaced by any other Dendro or Hydro sustain character. - Slotting in Kokomi means you have three Hydro characters in the team. This can overwhelm the Dendro aura unless you use a Dendro Catalyst as the On-Fielder, such as Lauma or Nahida. |
![]() | ![]() ![]() | - Replacing Nilou results in a less-optimal Bloom team due to the base Bloom reaction being too slow and having worse damage in comparison. - You can try using Kaveh as a substitute since he can quickly detonate nearby Dendro cores with his Elemental Skill. The DPS potential is obviously going to be less than what Nilou can offer, however. - If you don't have Nilou, you can pivot into a Hyperbloom team instead by pairing Yelan with an Electro trigger like Shinobu, an On-Field Dendro driver like Lauma, and an additional Hydro source like Xingqiu since Shinobu consolidates healing already. └ Jump to Hyperbloom Team |
A Nilou Bloom team is restricted to only Dendro and Hydro units due to her passive, Court of Dancing Petals, which transforms Dendro Cores into Bountiful Cores, provided the team is only composed of the aforementioned elements. Not having the key units for a Bloom team will result in a noticeably weaker performance, with Nilou arguably being the most important unit overall.

Yelan's Hydro application combined with Xingqiu's makes for decent single-target damage and a consistent Hydro aura on an enemy that a Pyro DPS, like Hu Tao, can reliably trigger Vaporize on. Additionally, the Hydro Resonance that activates with both Yelan and Xingqiu present increases Max HP of everyone on the team, which is synergistic for both Hu Tao and Zhongli. Overall, this Vaporize comp variant has high damage potential into single-target content such as Stygian Onslaught.
Rotation Of Vaporize Yelan Team
No. | Procedure |
---|---|
1 | Start with Xingqiu, then use Skill into Burst. |
2 | Switch to Yelan's Skill, then Burst. |
3 | Use Zhongli's Skill to deploy the shield and monolith. |
4 | Switch to Hu Tao. Cast Skill to gain a Pyro infusion, then do Hu Tao's typical combo involving Charged Attacks. |
5 | Repeat from step 1 |
Because Hu Tao wants all the field time on this team, her supports will be deploying their abilities first in order ability duration from longest to shortest. Using Zhongli's shield before Hu Tao allows you to maximize the shield duration while she's outputting damage, rather than wasting some of its duration and durability on the other supports.

![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | - Hu Tao can be replaced by an Pyro DPS that uses a lot of Normal Attacks and/or wants to trigger Vaporize. |
![]() | ![]() ![]() | - Replacing Xingqiu may lead to uptime problems on the Hydro application with only Yelan. - Mona can be an okay substitute if you don't have Xingqiu, but the uptime on her Elemental Burst buff is too short in comparison to what Xingqiu brings. - If you're using a different Pyro On-Field DPS other than Hu Tao, you can field Bennett for buffing and sustain instead. |
![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | - The last slot in a Hu Tao Vaporize team with Yelan will generally prefer a shielder rather than a healer due to her HP mechanic. Notably, Dehya's unique pseudo-shield Elemental Skill that redirects damage from the active character to Dehya is usable in this team as a shield replacement. - If you can play this team comfortably without healing or shielding, you can opt to instead focus on supplementing Zhongli's Elemental RES Shred by slotting in similar shredders like Kazuha and Sucrose. - You can also consider bringing a Cryo or Electro DPS like Fischl or Kaeya to trigger more reactions as a way of adding to the team DPS. It won't be as good damage-wise, but it can be decent compromise if you don't have key units. - You can also consider Xilonen an option for other Pyro DPSes, apart from Hu Tao, for healing and RES shred. |
Yelan and Xingqiu as a core are a strong pair since they both supply each other Energy while maintaining a Hydro aura on an enemy with ease. This pair will generally do well alongside a Pyro DPS that can Normal Attack freely and can benefit from the amplified damage from a Vaporized hit.

Yelan can once again be paired alongside Xingqiu for strong single-target damage coupled with reliable Hydro application for an Electro-Charged team. Ororon's damage scales well in a dedicated Electro-charged team, so fielding him as the Electro character in this team allows him to perform at his best. Additionally, because Yelan and Xingqiu's Elemental Bursts are triggered with Normal Attacks, the fourth slot in the comp is usually for the On-Field Driver or DPS who can use their Normal Attacks to constantly trigger Electro-Charged on enemies.
Lan Yan is an ideal choice for the Driver slot since she provides sustain with her shield and Elemental RES shred by equipping the Viridescent Venerer set. She can also freely use her Normal Attacks without it being too disruptive for her core gameplay mechanics.
Rotation Of Electro-Charged Yelan Team
No. | Procedure |
---|---|
1 | Start with Xingqiu, then use his Skill into Burst. |
2 | Swap into Yelan then use her Elemental Burst into Skill. You can weave a Normal Attack between Burst and Skill to immediately apply more Hydro. |
3 | Use Ororon's Skill, then followed up by his Burst. |
4 | Switch to Lan Yan then deploy her Skill first, then her Burst, then use Normal Attacks (x3). You can dash to cancel the fourth one before doing more Normal Attacks. |
5 | (Optional) Use either Yelan or Xingqiu Skill to gain Energy and apply Hydro again. |
6 | Keep performing Normal Attacks (x3) as Lan Yan until support abilities expire. |

![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | - Other Normal Attack-based Anemo On-Field characters can be suitable replacements for Lan Yan, but you might have to run sustain options in the other slots to compensate. - The fourth slot is usually dedicated to the Driver or On-Field character, but if you've already fielded another On-Field character as the Electro or Hydro source (such as Clorinde or Ayato), then you can instead opt to use a supportive buffer or RES shredder in this slot. - You can also deploy non-Anemo units like Bennett or Xilonen for sustain and/or additional buffing. |
This team comp has a lot of freedom regarding how you choose its party members, with the only strict requirement being how the On-Field character must be able to do Normal Attacks so you can use Yelan's Elemental Burst. Of course, you'd also need to ensure you have an Electro source to trigger the reaction.

The goal of this is to rapidly chain-trigger the Overload, Electro-Charged and Vape (hence why this team is sometimes referred to as "Overvape") reactions in quick succession by having an Electro, Pyro and Hydro character. Having a Pyro On-Field DPS like Arlecchino who can use Normal Attacks makes the ideal partner for Yelan in this type of comp.

2 | Switch to Yelan. Use her Elemental Skill into Burst. |
3 | Swap to Fischl then use her Elemental Burst. |
4 | Deploy Bennett's Elemental Skill into Burst. |
5 | Swap back into Arlecchino. Use a Charged Attack to absorb the Blood Debts to gain a Pyro infusion. Then do her regular damage combo which involves Normal Attacks. You can dash cancel after the 3rd Normal Attack to save some seconds if you need to. |
6 | (Optional) If Fischl's summon runs out, use Fischl's Skill to redeploy Oz. |
7 | Switch to Arlecchino again to use more Normal Attacks until all the other support abilities expire. |
8 | (Optional) Use Arlecchino's Burst if she lost too much HP to quickly heal. Remember that this removes your Bond of Life stacks, so you need to reapply her Skill then use a Charged Attack to regain the Pyro infusion. |
8 | Repeat from step 1. |
The order of using the abilities on this team will typically start from the support with the longest ability duration then followed by the shortest one. Because Arlecchino's Pyro infusion persists even after you swap out. you can refresh Oz's duration by using Fischl's Elemental Skill.

When building around this kind of team, the most important thing to note is to have the three important elements: Hydro, provided by Yelan, Pyro and then Electro. An Electro or Geo sustain won't be too much of a problem so feel free to make use of them here. Additionally, the other essential rule of this comp is how On-Field DPS should have a primarily Normal Attack-based playstyle in order to trigger Yelan's Elemental Burst.

A mono-element team usually indicates the existence of at least three of the same elemental type DPSes whose damage is further enhanced by an Anemo or Geo buffer or Elemental RES shredder. This Mono-Hydro team relies on sheer elemental damage alone and Furina and Yelan, with their generous DMG% buffs, allow the comp to be viable into some endgame content where the enemy isn't completely immune to Hydro.
Rotation Of Mono-Hydro Yelan Team
No. | Procedure |
---|---|
1 | Start with Furina's Elemental Skill. |
2 | Deploy Kokomi's Skill (Jellyfish). |
3 | Swap back into Furina to use her Burst. |
4 | Switch to Yelan. Deploy her Elemental Burst into Skill. |
5 | Use Kazuha's Skill (Tap). Burst usage is optional but recommended. |
6 | Switch to Kokomi to use her Elemental Burst as the On-Field driver. Continue to do Normal Attacks (x3) while her Burst form is active. |
7 | Return to Step 1 once all support abilities expire. |
Because Kazuha's Elemental Shred with the Viridescent Venerer set is very short, having him go last among the Off-Field characters allows you to maximize the RES shred. Kokomi functions as the On-Field character since she can also apply Hydro with her Normal Attacks and can contribute decent damage while in her Elemental Burst form.
Substitute Characters
Character | Sub | Details |
---|---|---|
![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | - The best alternative for Kokomi as the On-Field character is Ayato, since he typically uses his Normal Attacks in his combos, allowing him to trigger Yelan's Elemental Burst. - Noelle is also a decent substitute since she can also use her Normal Attacks while in her Burst state. She is better paired with Xingqiu rather than Kazuha to maximize the Hydro DMG. - Anemo On-Field DPSes like Chasca and Wanderer can equip Viridescent Venerer instead, since they can consolidate the On-Field Driver role with the RES shredder's. |
![]() | ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | - Any other character with innate Elemental RES shred can replace Kazuha in this team. If you're running Xilonen, it's best to slot-in someone other than Kokomi or Noelle into the team since Xilonen already provides healing. - Sucrose doesn't provide the same Elemental DMG% bonus as Kazuha, but can still equip Viridescent Venerer. - If you have an Anemo DPS included, you can deploy Xingqiu in this slot instead. |
![]() | ![]() | - No other character provides the same amount of buffing power and personal DPS for this team like Furina. Because of this, she comes close to being mandatory for a Mono-Hydro team if you want to have viable DPS potential. - You can slot in Xingqiu as a substitute to at least elevate the single-target DPS of the team, but you're likely to get better results by deploying Yelan's other comp variations where she's paired with Xingqiu instead. |
Furina's DMG% buffs paired alongside Yelan's makes for a potent increase to the teams DPS, which helps to designate Furina as a core part of a Mono-Hydro team. The difference in results of this comp with and without Furina are very noticeable, so it's best to only consider this team if you have Furina and if she is currently unoccupied by any other comp on your account.
