You Are Not Able To Deal Damage
During the Theater Mechanicus event, you can only deal damage to enemies using the mechanicus. Your attack however can crowd control and cause elemental reaction. Choose characters that can deal continues elemental reaction and move enemies into a certain direction.

Throw Enemies In The Hole
For the trial stage, you can't damage the enemies so one of the ways to defeat them without using Mechanicus would be to send them falling through holes using your character skills.
Cause Elemental Reaction To Crowd Control
Use the elements of your character and the elements of Mechanicus to cause Elemental reaction. Reactions that can control the movement of like Frozen and Overload are desired.
