Columbina Works Best as a Lunar Reactions Support

Columbina is meant to be the dedicated Lunar Reaction support for Moonsign teams. Her ability to apply Hydro and enable all Lunar Reactions is well-sought after in various Lunar Reaction comps; only the true Lunar DPSes like Zibai can make full use of all of Columbina's Buffs.

Moonsign Ascendant Applies Important Effects

Moonsign is a new mechanic introduced in Nod-Krai. Each Nod-Krai character increases it by 1 level, and at the 2nd level, various buffs for Lunar Reactions are activated.

Form Teams With Columbina With Geo, Dendro, Or Electro Characters

When forming teams with Columbina, using Geo, Dendro, and Electro characters is generally recommended to enable Lunar Reactions. Nod-Krai characters work especially well, but forming a full Nod-Krai team is suboptimal since there are additional buffs you receive from the Ascendent Gleam resonance effect when there are non-Moonsign characters in the team.

Columbina is the ideal Hydro applicator for maintaining the Moondrifts created by the Lunar-Crystallize reaction, which enables Zibai to use her special Skill a few more times per rotation. Both Zibai and Linnea's damage outputs also naturally benefit from all of Columbina's Lunar Reaction DMG% increases. Illuga's CRIT DMG buffs and Nightingale Song stacks also compounds even more stat increases that Zibai greatly appreciates.

Zibai's premium Lunar-Crystallize team is a balanced mix of damage from both herself and the Sub-DPSes, as well as an abundance of DMG and RES Shred sources that benefit Zibai, Columbina and Linnea at the same time. This is the reason why Zibai occupies a top spot in the current meta.

Zibai	Navia Itto Noelle	- Most Geo DPSes can be flexed as Zibai alternatives in a Lunar-Crystallize team with Columbina, though only Zibai benefits from direct Lunar DMG% buffs from both Columbina and Illuga. - Consistent Geo and Hydro application helps trigger the attacks from the Moondrifts faster, so Noelle is slightly more favored in this aspect. - Having Linnea alongside the other Geo DPSes can at leaast help non-Zibai Lunar-Crystallize setups to perform better. - DEF scalers like Itto and Noelle might find better results when paired with Gorou over Illuga, while Navia's personal damage should see an increase with an ATK% buffer like Bennett or Nicole.
Illuga	Gorou Albedo Nicole Chiori	- Illuga's buffs will only truly benefit direct Lunar-Crystallize DMG made by the active character, which is limited to Zibai and Columbina's Gravity Interference attacks when she is played On-Field. - His CRIT and DMG% buffs do affect regular Geo DMG, but to a lesser extent. - Illuga (especially at C6) is one of Zibai's most sought-after teammate, since she more often than not only realizes her full damage potential with him on the team. - Illuga's absence can be filled in by Gorou and his sizeable DEF boost. Gorou even has the potential to produce better results than a non-C6 Illuga if you have Linnea. - Other Geo Sub-DPSes can also be decent alternatives. - For the other Geo DPSes, you will want to replace Illuga more often than not with a support that synergizes with them more.
Linnea	Zhongli Chiori Gorou Albedo Mona	- Other Geo buffers that can act as a sustain or provide synergistic buffs for Zibai can be serviceable Linnea alternatives. Expect the damage to significantly dip since Linnea's personal damage is one of her strongest aspects. - If you have Albedo but no Linnea, you can pair them together to activate his Hexerei passive, allowing his Skill to have better uptime. - Alternatively, you can also fill in the last slot of Zibai's team with another strong Sub-DPS like Ineffa. This is only recommended if there is at least one other Geo teammate so you still have access to Geo Resonance.

Columbina's Moonridge Dew that is generated from her Ascension 4 passive, "Law of the New Moon", can be used to enable Nefer's special Charged Attacks, helping Nefer bypass the issue of using up Verdant Dew stacks too quickly when executing her optimal combos that is present when you use other Off-Field Hydro supports.

Sucrose's fast animations and Elemental Mastery sharing make her one of the better fourth slot teammate choices for the best DPS potential, but you can swap her out for a healer like Kuki Shinobu if survivability is an issue.

Rotation Of Lunar-Bloom Team

Nefer	-	- Nefer is the premier Lunar-Bloom DPS and therefor has no true replacement (apart from Columbina herself) for the role since no other Dendro or Hydro DPS character can deal Direct Lunar-Bloom DMG. - Columbina's Charged Attacks do count as Lunar-Bloom DMG when you have Verdant Dew stacks, but the damage is still weaker when compared to Nefer.
Lauma	Aino (C6) Ineffa	- Like Nefer, Lauma is hard to substitute since Lauma is Nefer's most important teammate due to all the buffs she provides that Nefer can easily take full advantage of. Without her, Nefer's DPS sees a significant decrease. - The best way to replace Lauma if you don't have her is with another Nod-Krai character. Aino at C6 can apply another Lunar-Bloom DMG% buff even if her Hydro application is redundant with Columbina on the team, while Ineffa can provide a shield, some EM buffs, and trigger a few Lunar-Charged hits now and then.
Sucrose	Nahida Nilou (C2) Shinobu Ineffa	- Ideally you'll want to a non-Nod Krai character to complete the Lauma, Nefer and Columbina team in order to activate the additional Ascedant Gleam buffs. - Sucrose is the best choice since she provides an Elemental Mastery buff when either her Skill or Burst hits an enemy, and because she usually builds a lot of EM, her Ascendant Gleam buff will be substantial. - Nahida is also a decent alternative, but she prefers to have the Deepwood set instead. - Shinobu and Ineffa are the more defensive-oriented options if you're finding trouble keeping Nefer alive. - Nilou's C2 provides additional Dendro RES shred.

Columbina is a strict upgrade over Aino in the Lunar-Charged Team with Flins and Ineffa due to her teamwide Lunar DMG% increase providing having solid buffing value for a team with more than one damage source. Buffing both Flins and Ineffa naturally leads to solid performance boost.

Although it's possible to replace Sucrose with Jahoda if you want healing, the amount of buffs Sucrose offers (as a non-Moonsign character, through her EM sharing and Elemental RES Shred with Viridescent Venerer) outweighs most competition for this Lunar-Charged team.

Flins	Cyno Clorinde Neuvillette Navia	- Electro DPSes like Cyno who have EM and/or ATK scaling can be serviceable alternatives to Flins, albeit with lower DPS potential since they won't deal direct Lunar-Charged DMG, so Columbina's buffs aren't as optimal. - You can also flex other On-Field DPSes whose kit is flexible enough that you can play them with the Ineffa-Columbina core, since they can be paired with various On-Field DPSes and still output decent results.
Ineffa	Fischl Ororon	- Fischl can be used to activate the Hexerei: Secret Rite Resonance effect with Sucrose, and she can buff EM while providing great Electro application. - Ororon can be used as an Electro Sub-DPS with his effect of triggering an Electro attack when an Electro-Charged or Lunar-Charged reaction occurs. - Ineffa will still be Flins' best teammate since her Off-Field DPS increases the team's damage ceiling, and her shield makes the team far more comfortable to pilot.
Sucrose	Jahoda Lan Yan	- Jahoda is an Anemo healer who can Viridescent Venerer (VV) for Elemental RES shred, but you'll lose the increased EM effect from Ascendent Gleam if the team is composed of Flins, Ineffa and Columbina. - Lan Yan is an Anemo shielder who is also a viable VV holder that has access to Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers. Her lack of EM buffing does cause a noticeable gap in performance between her and Sucrose, however.

This team has Columbina consume the Verdant Dew stacks generated by triggering Lunar-Bloom (or Bloom). Each Charged Attack uses one stack, so a constant source of Dendro, specifically Lauma, is a key component to this team's intended playstyle.

Since Lunar-Bloom does not entirely replace the original Bloom reaction, you can safely deploy Nilou in this setup so you gain the DPS increase contributed by her Bountiful Blooms.

Baizhu	Nahida Yaoyao	- Lauma's C1 lets her double as a sustain character, allowing you to slot in more offensive Off-Field options like Nahida for her Elemental Mastery buffs. - Yaoyao is the 4-star substitute to Baizhu if you just need a healer. Note that a Dendro or Hydro sustain is required if you want Nilou to retain her passive that produces Bountiful Blooms.
Nilou	Aino Ineffa	- If you don't have Lauma, Aino can be flexed into this slot over Nilou to retain the Moonsign Resonance. - Alternatively, a synergistic Electro Sub-DPS like Ineffa can be used in place of Nilou so you can get a few Hyperbloom triggers for a modest increase in damage.

Columbina lets non-Nod-Krai or Moonsign characters have access to Lunar Reactions. However, the damage dealt by these reactions often isn't very significant. Instead, the reason why you would want to deploy a non-Moonsign DPS alongside Columbina is to take advantage of her strong pairings with other Lunar characters, like Ineffa, or to activate Ascendant Gleam to benefit from the Moonsign Resonance and a certain Support's abilities, such as in the case of Lauma and Linnea.

In the team sample above, Neuvillette's personal damage is complimented by the Ineffa-Columbina duo that is known for their Off-Field DPS.

As a rule of thumb, you'll want to pair the On-Field DPS with their preferred Off-Field Support in the fourth slot.
