Obtained from Tempered Monsters or Melding

The Damaged Weapon Shard in Monster Hunter Wilds can be obtained as a quest reward from Tempered Monsters or by using the "Meld Relics" option in Melding.

There are three types of weapon shards based on rarity, but ultimately you'll want to collect the powerful rarity 8 parts. That's why it's more efficient to focus on collecting "Ancient Weapon Fragment", and we recommend using your Melding materials on Ancient Weapon Fragment instead.

Obtainable as a Quest Reward from Tempered Monsters

By defeating Tempered Monsters, you can obtain Weapon Shards as quest rewards. The type of shard you get depends on the monster, and the Damaged Weapon Shard becomes available once Tempered Monsters are unlocked at HR21.

Melding “Relic Alchemy” allows you to use materials to craft weapon shards. Damaged Weapon Shard becomes available after Chapter 4-3, but it's recommended to use Ancient Weapon Fragment or Old Weapon Shard Part for Melding.
