Zoh Shia Strategy Tips

3▼ Target the Weak Spots While Breaking Parts
4▼ Move Quickly to Safety During Big Wide Attacks
5▼ Shard Hits Deal Huge Damage & Knockdown
6▼ Focus on Weak Points for Exposure & Knockdown

Utilize Elemental Slinger Ammo

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Zoh Shia generates wyvern milk crystals through energy release. These crystals can react to Zoh Shia's elemental attacks, posing a threat. However, they also respond to the Hunter's elemental slinger ammo, providing an opportunity to deal significant damage by utilizing them as environmental features.

Elemental Slinger Ammo Found Scattered in the Area

Elemental Ammo is scattered around the area; survey your surroundings and easily collect them with the Slinger.

Slinger Dropped by Zoh Shia is Also Effective

Zoh Shia drops three types of Slinger Ammo, with heavy 'Piercing Pod' and heavy 'Blunt Pod' being especially useful. Pierce Pod delivers high instant damage and can deal significant damage when hit on the wings, while Heavy Blunt Ammo targets the head for a chance to stun, making both ammo types worth using actively.

Target the Weak Spots While Breaking Parts

Zoh Shia's large size limits its close-range attack options, making it relatively safe to attack its front early in the fight. Focus on the front before its shell is shed, and once the shell is removed, shift your attacks to its sides and rear.

Move Quickly to Safety During Big Wide Attacks

When Zoh Shia's health is sufficiently reduced, its next large attack will cover nearly the entire area. Combined with damage from the crystals, it can be devastating. When the first wide-range attack happens, make sure to move quickly and run to the opposite wall to avoid it.

Shard Hits Deal Huge Damage & Knockdown

After Zoh Shia's first large attack, look for destructible shards near the ceiling. Using Slinger on the ice shards to hit Zoh Shia will deal significant damage and trigger a knockdown. Make sure to take advantage of these environmental features to maximize your damage.

Focus on Weak Points for Exposure & Knockdown

Zoh Shia doesn't always expose its weak points, but in certain moves like the wing slam or after a breath attack, the mouth or wing tips may become vulnerable. While these moments aren't frequent, they significantly increase the chances to knock it down, so always stay aware of Focus Mode.

How to Fight Zoh Shia

Phase 1 (Until First Cataclysm)
1▼ Winged Arm Slam
2▼ Dual Winged Arm Slam
3▼ Winged Arm Sweep
4▼ Downwards Breath Attack
5Cataclysm

Winged Arm Slam

Zoh Shia will perform a slamming attack with its one-winged arm. There’s a brief delay before the slam, and if you move too early or have too short of a distance, you might get hit. It’s best to move widely to the left or right to avoid it.

Beware of Larger Explosions

The longer Zoh Shia leaves its winged arm on the ground, the larger the resulting explosion. Make sure to put sufficient space between yourself and this attack to avoid it.

Dual Winged Arm Slam

When Zoh Shia stands up and attacks with both winged arms, a massive explosion will occur near the impact point, so quickly move to the side. The side is safe, so it's efficient to shoot elemental slinger ammo at the generated crystals while staying there.

Winged Arm Sweep

When Zoh Shia swings its winged arms in a wide arc, a massive explosion will occur along the line of attack. It’s safest to move forward or backward based on your distance from Zoh Shia to avoid it.

Downwards Breath Attack

After dealing a certain amount of damage, the head’s outer shell will be blown off, and breath attacks will be added to its moves. At this point, the breath it performs while standing up and aiming at the ground near its feet is extremely dangerous, so quickly move towards the backside of Zoh Shia. If you remain slightly away from the base of the tail, you won't get hit by the breath attack.

"Cataclysm"

After dealing sufficient damage to Zoh Shia, it will move towards the dragontorch and perform its first super move, the Cataclysm. Once it begins charging this attack, quickly move towards the wall on the opposite end of Zoh Shia.

Phase 2(After First "Cataclysm")

Phase 2 (After Cataclysm)
1▼ Breath Follow-Ups
2▼ Consecutive Fireballs
3▼ Rush Attack
4▼ Frontal Explosions
5▼ Second Cataclysm

Breath Follow-Ups

After the forst Cataclysm, the explosions from the winged arms will extend along a straight line, and additional moves like breath attacks will follow. Since these breath attacks are elemental, they will also trigger the crystal explosions, making it dangerous. Move to away from the areas where the crystals are expected to spawn.

Consecutive Fireballs

When Zoh Shia stands up and its face does not face the ground, it will use Fireballs either as a single shot or a double shot. These Fireballs cause a massive explosion at the impact point, but as long as you keep moving, you won’t get hit. If your stamina is running low, using an Emergency Evade is also an option.

Rush Attack

When Zoh Shia is at a distance, it will rush towards you. Zoh Shia generally only moves in a straight line, so make sure to carefully judge its direction and move to the left or right.

Frontal Explosions

When Zoh Shia slams its exposed winged arms, a large fire-element, fan-shaped explosion will occur towards the front. This will trigger crystal explosions, so Zoh Shia geavoid the crystals and explosions, then move toward the winged arm that was slammednerally only moves in a straight line, so make sure to carefully judge its direction and move to the left or right. The exposed winged arm takes increased damage, making it a better attack target.

Second Cataclysm

Once you reduce Zoh Shia's health even further, the second Cataclsym. This time, Zoh Shia will commence this attack from anywhere in the arena, making the outerwalls unsafe. Instead, you need quickly move behind Zoh Shia and stay near the base of its tail to avoid this attack completely.

Phase 3 (Broken Outer-Shell)

Phase 3 (Broken Outer-Shell)
1▼ Lightning Elemental Attacks
2▼ Fork Lightning
3▼ Lightning Storm

Lightning Elemental Attacks

After the second Cataclysm, Zoh Shia's core will be exposed, and its attack speed will increase along with added lightning-elemental attacks. At this point, make sure to keep a safe distance to avoid the surrounding electric shocks. From here on, the attacks will be more intense compared to when the outer shell was intact, so focus on dodging and only go for attacks during long openings in its movements.

Fork Lightning

After the monster stands up and swings its head, a straight-line lightning attack will occur. This attack will light up the location where it will strike beforehand, so quickly move away from the glowing area.

Lightning Storm

After generating a large number of crystals around it, the Zoh Shia will stand up and trigger a series of lightning strikes. The lightning will cause the surrounding crystals to explode, and it will also use moves like Fireballs simultaneously. It's best to move to the safer tail side and attack from there.
