Aim for the Black Parts After Stripping the Outer Shell

Aim for Black Parts of Zoh Shia

Zoh Shia's first form is covered in a white outer shell. As you break parts or as its form changes, the shell will fall off, exposing the black areas of its body. The black parts are more vulnerable to damage, so focus on targeting them for better damage output.

Stripped Outer Shell Regenerates Over Time

In the first and second forms, the outer shell you break will regenerate over time. However, breaking it for the second time or later becomes easier, so continue attacking actively even if it regenerates. In the third form, it stops regenerating the white outer shell, and the black parts are continuously exposed.

Outer Shell Regeneration Heal Wounds

When Zoh Shia regenerates its outer shell, any existing wounds are also healed. Be mindful not to ignore wounds for too long when aiming for a Focus Strike.

Make Use of the Element Slinger Ammo

In Monster Hunter Wilds, Zoh Shia is known for generating Wyvern Milk Crystals with each attack. These crystals can explode if triggered by Zoh Shia's Element attacks, posing a danger. However, they also respond to the Hunter's Element Slinger Ammo, which can be used to trigger massive damage, making them a valuable environmental feature to take advantage of.

Element Slinger Ammo Is Scattered Throughout the Area

Element Ammo of each type is scattered throughout the area, so make sure to look around and pick them up whenever possible.

Slinger Dropped by Zoh Shia is Also Effective

Zoh Shia drops three types of Slinger Ammo, with 'Heavy Pierce Ammo' and 'Heavy Blunt Ammo' being particularly useful. Heavy Pierce Ammo delivers strong burst damage, making it ideal for targeting the wings for high damage. Heavy Blunt Ammo, when aimed at the head, has a chance to Stun, so be sure to use these strategically during the fight.

Use Slinger or Retreat to Wall for Area Wide Attacks

As Zoh Shia's health drops, it will use a wide-area attack that covers most of the battlefield. Crystals will appear before the attack, and destroying them will create safe zones. Use Slinger Ammo to break the crystals. If you can't destroy them in time, escape to the opposite side of the arena, where the attack won't reach, and take shelter near the wall.

Big Damage & Knockdowns with Environmental Features

After the first major attack, a notable environmental feature will appear on the ceiling. You can use the slinger to drop them, and if they hit Zoh Shia directly, they will deal significant damage and cause a knockdown. Be sure to actively aim for this opportunity.

Focus Strike for Downs When Weak Point Is Exposed

Zoh Shia doesn't always expose its weak points, but at specific moments, such as after performing a wing smash or breath attack, its mouth or the tips of its wings become vulnerable. By timing a Focus Strike with the weak point exposure, you can achieve a stagger or knockdown, creating a significant opportunity for attack.

Return to Camp in Critical Moments

Zoh Shia has many powerful attacks, so in critical situations, fast traveling to camp can be an effective option. The camp has an item box, allowing you to replenish your items and reset your strategy.

High Rank Has Faster and More Powerful Attack

High Rank Zoh Shia has fast attack motions and deals significant damage. If you're struggling, consider equipping Divine Blessing or Fire Resistance to mitigate damage. Partbreaker is also an effective skill to make it easier to break its shell.

List of All Skills and Effects

How to Fight Zoh Shia

Phase 1 (Until First Cataclysm)
1▼ Winged Arm Slam
2▼ Dual Winged Arm Slam
3▼ Winged Arm Sweep
4▼ Downwards Breath Attack
5Cataclysm

Winged Arm Slam

Zosia will perform a slamming attack with its one-winged arm. There’s a brief delay before the slam, and if you move too early or have too short of a distance, you might get hit. It’s best to move widely to the left or right to avoid it.

Beware of LargerExplosions

The longer Zoh Shia leaves its winged arm on the ground, the larger the resulting explosion. Make sure to put sufficient space between yourself and this attack to avoid it.

Dual Winged Arm Slam

When Zoh Shia stands up and attacks with both winged arms, a massive explosion will occur near the impact point, so quickly move to the side. The side is safe, so it's efficient to shoot elemental slinger ammo at the generated crystals while staying there.

Winged Arm Sweep

When Zoh Shia swings its winged arms in a wide arc, a massive explosion will occur along the line of attack. It’s safest to move forward or backward based on your distance from Zoh Shia to avoid it.

Downwards Breath Attack

After dealing a certain amount of damage, the head’s outer shell will be blown off, and breath attacks will be added to its moves. At this point, the breath it performs while standing up and aiming at the ground near its feet is extremely dangerous, so quickly move towards the backside of Zoh Shia. If you remain slightly away from the base of the tail, you won't get hit by the breath attack.

Cataclysm

After dealing sufficient damage to Zoh Shia, it will move towards the dragontorch and perform its first super move, the Cataclysm. Once it begins charging this attack, quickly move towards the wall on the opposite end of Zoh Shia.

Phase 2 (After First Cataclysm)

Phase 2 (After Cataclysm)
1Be careful with falling Rocks
2Various Breath Attacks was added to Wing Attack
3Keep moving to dodge the Breath Attack
4For the back-and-forth charge, watch the direction of movement and dodge left or right
5If the Wing Arms are slammed down, a massive explosion will occur in front
6For triple breath attack, focus on evading
7Watch out for 3 consecutive Wing Arm slam
8For the second strong attack, dodge by going to the tail side

Be careful with falling Rocks

Starting on Phase 2, an asteroid like rock will randomly fall from above. It does not occur frequently but it deals a very high damage while burning the hunter so it pays to be careful.

Various Breath Follow-Ups to Wing Attack

After the first Cataclysm, the explosions from the winged arms will extend along a straight line, and additional moves like breath attacks will follow. Since these breath attacks are elemental, they will also trigger the crystal explosions, making it dangerous. Move to away from the areas where the crystals are expected to spawn.

Keep moving to dodge the Breath Attack

If the boss stands up while not facing the ground, it will deal a single or double-charged Breath attack. The charged breath will produce a huge explosion at the point of impact. So long as you keep moving, you should not be hit by this move. If you ran out of Stamina, an Emergency Evade can also be done.

For the back-and-forth charge, Watch the direction of movement and dodge left or right

If you are at a distance from Zoh Shia, it might deal a charging attack towards you. The attack is a straight-line so you just need to move greatly to left or right. Once the monster reach the wall, it will rotate. Make sure that after dodging, adjust your cameral to see the boss.

the Wing Arms are slammed down, a Massive Explosion will Happen

When the wings are slammed down on the ground, a large explosion with Fire Attribute will occur in front of it in a cone shape. This will make the crystal explode so dodge the crystals and explosions and head to the right wing for an opening. The wing has a soft Hitzone so it is a good chance for attacking.

For Triple Breath Attack, Focus on Evading

The three breath attacks has a good homing capability so focusing on dodging when this attack is unleashed is recommended. ブAfter the breath attacks, it often transitions into other moves so carefully check the movement of the boss.

Watch out for 3 consecutive Wing Arm slam

The Wing Arm Slam can be done by the boss up to 3 times consecutively. It aims for the hunter every time so make sure to watch the timing and dodge.

For The Second Strong Attack, Dodge by Going to The Tail Side

After reducing the HP of the boss, you will reach the next phase and the boss will deal the second strong attack. Once you see the motion, head behind the Zo Shia and dodge. Similar to the first strong attack, you can also create a safe area by breaking crystals with slinger.

Phase 3 (Broken Outer-Shell)

Phase 3 (Broken Outer-Shell)
1▼ Lightning Elemental Attacks
2▼ Lightning Storm
3▼ Fork Lightning
4▼ Ground Explosion

Lightning Elemental Attacks

After the second Cataclysm, Zoh Shia's core will be exposed, and its attack speed will increase along with added lightning-elemental attacks. At this point, make sure to keep a safe distance to avoid the surrounding electric shocks. From here on, the attacks will be more intense compared to when the outer shell was intact, so focus on dodging and only go for attacks during long openings in its movements.

Lightning Storm

After generating a large number of crystals around it, the Zoh Shia will stand up and trigger a series of lightning strikes. The lightning will cause the surrounding crystals to explode, and it will also use moves like Fireballs simultaneously. It's best to move to the safer tail side and attack from there.

Fork Lightning

After the monster stands up and swings its head, a straight-line lightning attack will occur. This attack will light up the location where it will strike beforehand, so quickly move away from the glowing area.

Ground Explosion

In the phase 3, there is a move wherein the monster stands out and wrap itself in lightning. After these movement, explosions on the ground of thunder element will happen. Once the foot starts to glow, make sure to start focusing on dodging.

How to Dodge Instant-Death Attack of Zoh Shia

You can dodge the Instant Death attack (Special Attack) of Zoh Shia by using Slinger Ammo to destroy crystals on field, by running to the opposite side of Zoh Shia to the walls, and by fast travelling to camp.

Destroy Crystals using Slinger Ammos

After depleting the health of Zoh Shia, it will deal a powerful attack that can burry your hunter. Make sure to pick up the Slingger Ammo that Zoh Shia drop and fight against the Instant Death attack.

Run to the Opposite side of Zoh Shia to the Walls

While the move has a wide AoE, it does not affect the area close to the walls of Zoh Shia. If you are not able to destroy the crystals with Slinger, run to the walls.

Fast Travel to The Camp

You can also go Fast Travel to the camp to dodge the attack. You can also access the Item Box in the camp and prepare further in the battle. The camp itself is fairly close to the hunting area so there won't be much time loss.
