Gather Exquisite Fossil in Windward Plains

In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Fossilized Fire Opal can be obtained from activated 'Exquisite Fossils' in Windward Plains, regardless of High Rank or Low Rank, though it has a low spawn rate. When the environment is in Inclemency (Sandtide), gathering points are more likely to be activated, so adjust the environment with Optional Quests or camp resting for efficient farming.

Can Also Obtain in Oilwell Basin

Fossilized Fire Opal can be gathered in Oilwell Basin, but with only two gathering points and some distance from the Pop-Up Camp, Windward Plains is the best location for efficient farming.

Farm Optional Quests in Inclemency (Sandtide)

Geologist Skill Lv2 increases the number of Special Items gathered by 1 per attempt. In contrast, Gatherer Meal skill randomly adds 1 more item. These two skills stack, allowing you to gather up to 3 Fossilized Fire Opal from a single spot. Since Geologist can be activated with the Chainmail Equipment you start with, be sure to switch your gear at the camp before heading out to gather.

Activates with 'Forager's Luck' Armor

The Forager's Luck skill, activated through the Group Skill 'Imparted Wisdom,' boosts the spawn rate of activated gathering points. However, crafting the required armor requires high-quality materials or rare Tier 6 Special Items from Item Trade. Since gathering is efficient even without Forager's Luck, it's not necessary to prioritize this gear.

Low Priority of Gatherer Meal Skill

Geologist always increases gathering, while Gatherer Meal's boost is random, so there may be times when gathering amount doesn't increase. Additionally, since Truffle D Conga is a rare material, activating Gatherer Meal isn't always necessary.
