Best Teams for Varesa
Varesa Is Best Used As Hypercarry
| Team | Rating Description |
|---|---|
| ▼ Overload Team | ★★★★★ - Varesa's strongest team in terms of DPS potential, which significantly increases as you acquire more constellations on both Chevreuse and Iansan. - Chevreuse is the core of this team and in return for her strong RES shred and teamwide ATK% buff, the team must only include Electro and Pyro characters. - Despite the reaction potentially knocking away lighter enemies, Varesa's mobility in combat allows her to deal with this some ease. |
| ▼ Hypercarry Varesa | ★★★★・ - Varesa's high DMG multipliers as a Plunge Attack DPS and rotations that can be longer than the norm can be used as a hypercarry with all supports aimed at buffing her. - Reactions are not the main focus since Electro as an element has many reactions that can be utilized. - Furina, Xianyun, & Iansan buffs Varesa's DMG and provide enough HP changes for Furina's fanfare to stack faster. |
| ▼ Aggravate Team | ★★★・・ - Aggravate increases the damage dealt by a single Electro attack, provided that you maintain the Quicken aura on enemies. - While viable, the output is underwhelming in comparison to her other teams since her damage isn't made up of several hits, which Aggravate prefers. - Nahida & Baizhu can keep a constant Dendro aura and activate Dendro resonance for additional EM. - Aggravate's DMG increases with EM. This means building Varesa will have the added priority of having EM on her. |
Varesa is an Electro On-Field DPS whose primary damage is concentrated in her Plunging Attacks. Her teams will often gravitate towards a setup that buffs her own damage output with dedicated supports, and there are clear teammates she clearly prefers over others.

Chevreuse provides Electro and Pyro RES shred whenever the team triggers the Overload reaction, with the primary condition being the party can only consist of Electro and Pyro characters. Varesa naturally performs well with this team-up, especially since Chevreuse also provides an ATK% buff with her Skill (hold) and more Electro DMG bonus with Chevreuse's C6.
Rotation Of Overload Team
| No. | Procedure |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open the rotation with Varesa's Skill into Charged Attack, then plunge. This is the first rotation. |
| 2 | Swap to Durin. Use his Skill (x2) then Burst to enter his Confirmation of Purity mode. |
| 3 | Switch to Chevreuse. Use her Skill (hold) then Burst. |
| 4 | Swap to Iansan. Start with her Skill, into a Normal Attack (x1), then Burst. |
| 5 | Return to Varesa. Start her typical combo with (Skill→Charged Attack→plunge) x2. Activate her special Burst when it's up. |
| 6 | Repeat the combo in step 5 one more time. Follow it up with (Charged Attack→plunge) x2 with an optional (Skill→Charged Attack→plunge)x1 as an ending. |
| 7 | Swap to Durin. Repeat steps 2, 3 and 4. This is the second rotation. |
| 8 | Switch to Varesa. Open the combo with Skill, into a Charged Attack, into a plunge. then do the combo stated in step 5. End the combo with a (Charged Attack→plunge). |
| 9 | Repeat from step 1. |
| Note | While the notation is labeled as Charged Attack in (Skill→Charged Attack→plunge), in practice you only need to tap the Normal Attack button since Varesa's Skill automatically changes her Normal Attack into a Charged Attack. |
|---|
The combo above essentially alternates between two rotations, the first one where Varesa starts it, and the second where Durin starts it. This allows the team to carefully maintain Chevreuse's RES Shred with timed Overload triggers. If this seems overwhelming to you, you can opt to do just the first rotation instead, since it should be enough to clear most content.

Iansan | Bennett Fischl Ororon | - Iansan is essentially Varesa's dedicated support, since she can easily max out Iansan's movement-based ATK% buff while also triggering the full effect of the Cinder City set. Additionally, she also acts as Varesa's Electro battery by generating Electro particles for Varesa. - Bennett is one of the closest alternatives due to his generous ATK% buff. He can easily replace a low-constellation Iansan, but is less valuable when your Iansan is C6. - Fischl after completing her Witch's Homework task offers a modest ATK% buff when in an Overload team, which allows her to be a viable but weaker substitute. - Ororon can be an appealing option for Energy and to ensure you still have access to the full Cinder City set buff. |
Durin | Mavuika Pyro Traveler Dehya Xiangling | - While Durin brings RES shred, he can be substituted by any Off-Field Pyro applicator. - Mavuika is naturally the strongest option since she also benefits from the ATK% buffs and RES shred found in this team, so her personal damage in this team (especially if you do specific combos) are pretty respectable still. |
Chevreuse | - | - Chevreuse is the character that can elevate an Overload team into meta status, especially with her C6. Without her, an Overload team's damage can feel underwhelming, and may struggle to clear specific content. - C6 is ideal, but even at C0 Chevreuse is better than any other option for this team. |
Does Varesa Need Iansan or Chevreuse?
Varesa needs Chevreuse to complete her strongest team, which is Overload. Even at C0, Chevreuse offers a hefty 40% Electro and Pyro RES shred and 40% ATK buff, which are all desirable buffs for an attack-scaling DPS like Varesa. Conversely, while Iansan is designed to be her most synergistic support, you can easily replace her with alternatives and find marginal differences in performance. There is no true alternative for Chevreuse (in an Overload team) in comparison.
| Note | No C6 Iansan and Chevreuse? - You don't need to get either of their C6s for Varesa to perform well. These constellations are good if you want to start reaching Varesa's peak potential outside of investing in 5-star constellations or weapons. - Additionally, note that getting copies of specific 4-stars on a banner is not guaranteed. So you don't need to go out of your way to pull for their C6s if you don't have the means to. - You're likely to clear content with whatever Iansan or Chevreuse constellation level you have currently. |

This team supplies Varesa with a lot of DMG% buffs and can be considered "hypercarry" in nature, from Furina's Fanfare stacks and Xianyun's Plunging DMG buffs. It's a solid overall team with great synergy between each member, but the DPS potential is noticeably lower than Varesa's Overload team.
Rotation Of Plunge DPS Varesa
| No. | Procedure |
|---|---|
| 1 | Start with Furina's Skill, then Burst. You can dash after using her Skill to cancel the long animation. |
| 2 | Switch to Iansan. Use her Skill, followed by a Normal Attack (x1) then Burst. |
| 3 | Switch to Xianyun. Do a Normal Attack (x1) first, then Skill, then Burst. |
| 4 | Switch to Varesa. Use her (Skill→Charged Attack→plunge) combo twice. then end the combo with her special Burst once it's active. |
| 5 | Repeat step 4's combo. |
| 6 | Finish Varesa's field time with a (Charged Attack→plunge) at least once. You can optionally do it one more time then use her (Skill→Charged Attack→plunge) again if you feel the need to. |
| 7 | Repeat from 1 |
| Note | While the notation is labeled as Charged Attack in (Skill→Charged Attack→plunge), in practice you only need to tap the Normal Attack button since Varesa's Skill automatically changes her Normal Attack into a Charged Attack. |
|---|
This rotation is a little easier to pilot than Varesa's ideal Overload rotation. You still need to be wary of accidentally using Varesa's normal Elemental Burst however, so it's important to ensure that you plunge after every Skill usage to exit her Fiery Passion state and enter Apex Drive.
Substitute Characters

|---|---|---|
Furina | Xilonen Bennett | - Furina is obviously the better DMG% support option, but she can easily be replaced by any general "buffer" that works well with Varesa. - Xilonen can shred elemental RES and trigger the full Cinder City set 4-piece effect. - Bennett has a generous ATK% buff tied to his Elemental Burst area, which if you can work around, can result in decent performance regardless. |
Xianyun | Kazuha Zhongli | - Xianyun compounds Furina's DMG% buffs with her own Plunging Attack DMG increases. She's also effectively the primary sustain of the team, but can be substituted with any other generalist buffer or sustain as well. - You can consider replacing her with an Anemo support that can equip Viridescent Venerer like Kazuha, or a sustain with RES Shred like Zhongli. - Remember to choose a healer rather than a shielder if you're still using Furina due to her HP drain. |
Iansan | Bennett Fischl Ororon Ineffa | - As stated, while Iansan synergizes extremely well with Varesa, she can be replaced if you don't have her. - Bennett's ATK buff is substantial, but can be troublesome to maintain due to being limited to his Burst area. - Fischl with her Hexerei buffs can provide a small ATK% buff in an Overload team. - Ororon is the best option if you want reliable Energy gain for Varesa while also maintaining the full Cinder City set buff. - Optionally, you can consider using Ineffa in this team as well, provided you have a Hydro source so she can benefit from Lunar-Charged still. |
Replacing Xianyun results in the team being less "Plunge DPS" and more hypercarry oriented. The difference shouldn't be too great that it'd compel you to secure Xianyun just for this, so use whichever characters you have at hand.

Varesa's damage scales with her ATK rather than Elemental Mastery, but she can equip EM main-stat artifacts in an Aggravate team to increase the damage output of the hits that are affected with Aggravate. Due to her less frequent hits, Varesa's DPS potential in an Aggravate team is less impressive, but you can still choose to run it in the event you need Dendro to deal with specific combat gimmicks or mechanics.
Rotation Of Aggravate Team
| No. | Procedure |
|---|---|
| 1 | Start with Nahida. Use her Skill (Tap) to mark nearby enemies, or Skill (Hold) to mark further or spread out enemies. Use her Burst after. |
| 7 | Repeat from 1. |
| Note | While the notation is labeled as Charged Attack in (Skill→Charged Attack→plunge), in practice you only need to tap the Normal Attack button since Varesa's Skill automatically changes her Normal Attack into a Charged Attack. |
|---|
As stated in other teams, remember to avoid using Varesa's normal Elemental Burst since it can cause a break in the next rotation.
Substitute Characters
| Character | Sub | Details |
|---|---|---|
Nahida | Yaoyao Baizhu | - Nahida offers the most in the Dendro slot due having Elemental Mastery buffs in her kit. - You can still substitute her with any decent Off-Field Dendro applicator like Yaoyao or Baizhu, with Yaoyao being better in multi-target content and Baizhu being more usable into single-target content. |
Xianyun | Kazuha Zhongli | - Xianyun is still one of Varesa's ideal teammates due to the Plunging DMG buffs, but you have plenty of alternatives otherwise. - You can consider replacing her with an Anemo support that can equip Viridescent Venerer like Kazuha, or a sustain with RES Shred like Zhongli. - Remember to choose a healer rather than a shielder if you're still using Furina due to her HP drain. |
Iansan | Ororon | - As stated, while Iansan synergizes extremely well with Varesa, she can be replaced if you don't have her. - Ororon is the best option if you want reliable Energy gain for Varesa while also maintaining the full Cinder City set buff. |
This team is akin to her Hypercarry team, just with the inclusion of a Dendro unit to help trigger the Aggravate reaction. The same teambuilding logic from that team also applies here, wherein the goal is to favor general buffers over Sub-DPSes to ensure that Varesa still deals a decent amount of damage regardless if it isn't her best team.
