However, you can't challenge all NPCs immediately. Some NPCs are level-locked, meaning you have to be at a certain level first before they can be challenged.

If you are focusing on leveling up, it is ok to skip character invitation matches. Although you can get Character and Talent Cards, & Lucky Coins, no EXP can be obtained after winning the match.
Tavern Challenge Friendly Fracas & Serious Showdown
Similar to inviting characters mentioned above, you cannot gain EXP from Tavern Challenges so it is ok to skip it if gaining EXP is your priority.
